2 years, 3 months ago @teawithtams6596 The problem with blaming immigrants is that people are going to start profiling based on the colour of your skin, so even if you are a Canadian and paid your dues, because the colour of your skin looks exactly like the ones that just came to Canada, you'll get attacked. 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @mattstamaticc I truly believe this all revolves around the housing crisis. Not enough housing can be built. Canadians with options are not taking low-income jobs. It's not a survivable wage anymore. Canada's #1 GDP is Real Estate. Potential first-time home buyers are not willing to throw themselves into a lifetime debt for a weak economy. \n\nSo what does Canada do? Fill these vacancies with immigrants. Not inherently wrong, but it's a band-aid solution to temporarily pump up the numbers. \n\nImmigrants, specifically refugees are taking low-income jobs. Speak Arabic? You can easily fill your job positions for minimum wage. Just like mafia tactics in third-world countries, the government takes their passports away and they must fulfill their duties at a very low wage and very high cost of living under threat of being thrown back into a potentially war-torn country. Came to Canada as a Dentist? Doesn't matter, you need to climb the ladder again and in the meantime work as a Receptionist making minimum wage.\n\nImmigrants with money are obligated to prove themselves. Buy housing, start a business. Numerous cities such as Brampton are being filled with slums. Housing a double digit of residents in the basement at absurd costs so the landlords can afford their ridiculous mortgages and lifestyle off the back of other immigrants/refugees.\n\nThe main issue is the hate directed towards immigrants. First of all, in the video it was disgusting for the man to acknowledge that someone was wearing good clothes and asking where the refugee center is. Someone can be a refugee and still have money. That's the ideal refugee. Someone with money in a war-torn country such as Sudan are high targets and completely deserve to run away to a safe country like Canada - especially if they can afford to spend money and stimulate the economy.\n\nStop attacking the people. This is a housing crisis issue that has been so poorly managed that these deeply rooted symptoms are beginning to show. 2 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @rileyslostmind You should have gone to the Alexandra hotel, it functions as a hotel as well as a place for cheaper living for the homeless I’ve stayed there as a guest visiting Toronto many times and have heard so many different story’s from the homeless that live there now. The park itself (Alexandra park) next to the hotel has many homeless there too. There was a time I went to stay in Toronto for the weekend and couldn’t find anywhere to stay hotels were booked up or too expensive for my budget and one of the people that were living in Alexandra park overheard me when I tried to check in and offered a tent and food it was very welcoming I stayed with them for a few hours but ended up leaving because my ex had seen my story about not having anywhere to stay for the night and busses were done for the way back to Muskoka and got to stay with her. A lot of the homeless I met at the park weren’t addicts just got dealt a bad hand and had nowhere else to go, this was back in 2020. I’ve recently stayed at the Alexandra hotel this past summer for the exhibition and smashing pumpkins concert and it’s just the same as before. Heartbreaking the stories you hear but a very welcoming hotel and great what they do for the less fortunate. 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0
2 years, 3 months ago @JuicyJ-k6u Dam right help Canadians 1st !! refugees are taking our little jobs, and our children can't get jobs because of it therefore trickling down to Canadian Canadian, we can't have shit in our country 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0
2 years, 3 months ago @TheRamnath007 As an immigrant, I don't understand how canada chose to bring in so much immigrants without actually creating capacity. 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0
2 years, 3 months ago @mosamra3776 Trudeau has destroyed Canada.. This is actually one of the 100 issues this potato head Castro son did to this country... It's sooo sad they put refugees before their own people and veterans 1 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @Damnit1Lost They want to bring as many people here as possible, raising living costs astronomically to kill off as many people as they can. Think about why they are doing what they are doing. 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @smooij3199 Toronto is outta control fam! crackheads and tweekers gone wild! the old dude is right, they used to be discreet now they are just starfished on the sidewalk or shitting where they smoke. The immigrant homeless on Peter street dont even have the respect not to litter and spit and urinate all over the streets of their new home... I'd also like to say that its yuppies and karens who let their dogs shit all over the sidewalks that are contributing to ruining the city 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @christina9470 The problem is not immigrants...the problem is poor immigrants. People who move here with nothing and want to milk the system. I moved here from a Latin American country in 2017, and I have never asked anything from government. I am not a refugee and I was never a student at a fake school. I came here with enough money to live comfortably and then got a great job. You are importing poverty, so of course things will be hard. You need to import wealth and education...people who actually contribute to the system. A richer and better system can help more people. 2 Jx5TKMOmZL0
2 years, 3 months ago @jaybee9016 I'm born and raised in Toronto, shout out to you for at the very least going out and talking to as many people as you could who had an opportunity to be heard. 1 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @mostlydeceased The dude complaining about the volunteers for social services work getting paid is redic. This is work and to maintain it getting done consistently and as often as needed you need to pay peers or employees for their time and work. Yes some people will hold to volunteer work, I do volunteer work myself. But if you're volunteering you're more likely to call out for silly reasons or not work as hard and then you end up short staffed and people not getting the help they need. I have worked in these encampments, got paid, but provided the camps with harm reduction supplies, food & water, and toiletries as well as helping people call Central Intake and references to medical support. That is still work, I would usually walk about 10km a day with a heavy bag on my back and I'm poor disabled person myself. \n\nAs well as addressing unhoused folks using substances, would you want to go to detox while not having a home? It feels absolutely horrible and getting sober when you don't have a bed to shower in, a toilet to use, a shower to clean yourself up in, is really f*cking hard. A lot of people start using substances like meth to help them survive as well, needing it to stay up at night so you don't get attacked at night sleeping. Don't shame substance use, but especially substance use with the unhoused. 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0
2 years, 3 months ago @cal6386 That man is right. It’s all a political scam. They knew what would happen and the money they could generate. Living in Toronto for 24 years, I saw the difference happening before my eyes. This country has fallen in shambles beneath a leader who has failed. 0 Jx5TKMOmZL0

2 years, 3 months ago @dickdilligaf9240 It's even bad in places like PEI. Nowhere is safe and the risk of losing your apartment or job is insane. \n\nAnd every restaurant is now an Indian Restaurant... I don't care what you think about my opinion, this is not Canada anymore. 1 Jx5TKMOmZL0
2 years, 3 months ago @ChrisOfChin Pains me so deeply. I work at a Hotel. Without going into detail, we house so many refugees from Sudan, Nigeria, Ukraine etc. completely for free. They are all lovely people for the most part don't mistake my meaning, but I seldom hear of such programs addressing widespread actual Canadian citzen homeless housing, nor have any of the refugees at my Hotel been Canadian citizens born and raised who were granted asylum. \n\nThe other day I had to kick out a homeless gentleman from my hotel who was sleeping in the heated stair-wells. My manager instructed me to contact the non-emergency police number and get them to escort him out and/or possibly trespass him. He was compliant, not rude and understanding and wasn't causing any property damage or bothering anyone, nor consuming drugs or anything of the sort. It pained my heart and it reminded me of the risks I may face in the future considering how fucked the housing is.\n\n100%, and I mean 100%, of the new employees we've hired in the Hotel are Indian students here on student-visas, or refugees (many Ukrainians and one African lady). And 0% of the people being housed at my Hotel are Canadian born citizens. Disgusting mess of a country with all thanks owing to J.T. 95 Jx5TKMOmZL0
