How about we remove one of those "0" on those numbers relating to imigration!!! Middle class tax cut for those making, $57,000 a year or less, middle class really, that's barely above the poverty line in most parts of Canada for a family! No wonder Canada's in trouble, the Liberals have no friggin idea what anything cost anymore what a sad state of affairs!!!!

"Without warning tightened immigration" The last 3 years of Trudeau's reign were Canadians, actual Canadians who can vote, screaming at Trudeau to cut the immigration numbers. Anyone angry about it is just pissed that they can't cry more since Carney isn't making a circus of the whole thing.

Who benefits ? Big companies which require a steady supply of low skilled labor . Recruiters , consultants, lawyers all get their cut . No regard for quality … just numbers, and society must deal with the dregs … similar to pollution by greedy corporations.

we are already overwhelmed with migrants....they should cut those number to zero for many years just to recover from the strain.

To keep citizens a priority over the influx of immigrants and refugees Denmark had cut welfare benefits to illegal immigrants and refugees and many began leaving to more profitable countries (in benefits). Why has our country not put something like that in place? It definitely would sort out those who came for the 'freebies'.  ~ Denmark's ‘integration benefit'  measure was a significantly lower benefit level being offered to people who have resided in Denmark for less than seven of the past eight years. Foreigners will also receive a financial incentive to learn the language. These were 'integration benefits'. Citizens who have lived outside of the EU (or country?) for seven of the past eight years were also subjected to the new rules. The purpose, to make Denmark a less attractive destination while making it more attractive to work and contribute to Danish society.  It reduced the flow in to a more manageable number.

Easy way to do it like poland now days and trump send them back home and cut down the numbers

Last year, they said that 114,000 Indian students in Canada did not attend classes, but not a single school reported this issue to the IRCC because, guess what, the students still pay their fees! So, the schools are complicit, filling those seats as empty and making more money by selling one spot to two students. These are the same schools that appear on your TV screens saying, "cutting down the number of international students means they would be out of work and have to end some of their programs."

Talk is cheap. IRCC claiming to have slowed the intake means nothing...Stats Can numbers will tell the story at the end of 2026. Not surprising that Carney is cutting 850 jobs from stats can. lol

The cuts to temporary foreign workers, refugees, and other immigrants do not go near far enough. Maximum number allowed, in total, should be no more than 60,000, laser focused on STEM and medical grads.

The number should be cut to 0.

Dude saying he’s not a number. He’s a literally a number to the ministry. Everyone is a number. No one owes anyone anything. The majority of Canadians are asking for a cut to immigration. I for one celebrate that governments are doing what the majority wants instead of catering to the few. If it didn’t work out, that’s too bad.

Please don't believe this report. I am from Canada, This issue is not dividing us at all . In fact the overwhelming majority agrees immigration numbers of recent years are unsustainable .These policies to cut immigration are driven by public pressure on the government..Fr24 is cherry picking and make it sound like there is huge backlash to these cuts.

this is a 180 from the past 5 years, however, it is a false promise. once the immigration cuts are out of recent memory of the voter base, restaurants begin to need customers (11,000 shuttered in 2 years), colleges get surplus nostalgia, and landlords demand their inflated rental income (see economic rent), the government will ramp the numbers up again.

Those aren't slashed numbers. Very minor adjustments....thise cuts arent big enough by far.

Refugees make 7k with 4 kids . Great , LIMA Sold in market .Work permit need to cut in numbers . and International students needs to slow down .
