Immigration is a federal responsibility, not provincial and Canada should remain a welcoming country to all immigrants imo, but, if you're here on a work or student visa, newcomers should have to prove employment, training, full-time enrollment, and residency on a quarterly basis. It would drastically limit people becoming ghosts in the system. Refugees and asylum seekers should be allowed 1 appeal only and removed immediately if their claim has been denied. A 90-day grace period should be enacted to get their paperwork and affairs in order. If you're here for a better life, steps should be taken to ensure you're actively trying to accomplish that goal until citizenship is granted. Jmho.

Another important concern is that visa officers in certain countries who facilitated fake applications through bribery should be thoroughly investigated, while many genuine and legitimate visitor‑visa applicants — who simply wished to visit Canada and enjoy places like Niagara Falls — were unfairly rejected. The full staff in these offices should be reassigned, and the approval systems and procedures should be completely overhauled to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper decision‑making going forward. Immigrants who have legitimately obtained Permanent Residence or Canadian citizenship are also facing unfair barriers, especially in the job market. Many of these immigrants have sacrificed their assets and life savings in their home countries, embraced Canada as their new motherland, and now find themselves suffering with no realistic path to return — making fairness and accountability in the system even more essential.

How Canada broke its immigration system: They elected a Liberal government in 2015.

To be here as a citizen today, I had to pay CAD$35.000 for a two years program in Toronto. But to get the study visa I had to prove a lot of things, including money, proof that I had paid the college (at least 1st year), English, a Bachelor degree (education), a clear criminal history, and what attach me to my country. I had to study hard, and only after graduation I could have 3y work permit. By working in Canada I could get more point to become a permanent resident. After 2y having my PR, I could get the citizenship, but I had to prove I pay taxes, clear criminal history, and other things that show I would be a good citizen. So, I worked (and still work) hard, I am currently in two jobs and at school taking my masters, I respect the laws, I respect the culture (I never tried to impose mine), and I pay over CAD$10.000 in taxes per year on my income. That said, I feel as a slap on my face when fraudulent and dishonest people are able to be here cheating the system in any way. Some people may say I am an immigrant against immigration. NO, I am in favor of people taking the right path to immigrate, and make real contributions for this country, not coming to be scammers and criminals.

This is the system: Student immigrates to Canada on a student Visa, gets a Diploma which they use to get a Post-Graduation Work Permit, this is used to get Permanent Residence (PR). After 3 years apply for Citizenship, which makes it easier to bring their parents into Canada. Those parents apply for PR, then wait 3 years, after which they can also apply for Citizenship. If they are 55+ years old, they don't need to take the test or prove they can speak the English. They just apply and get become Citizens. All of this while enjoying the benefits of a Socialized Healthcare, Old Age Pension after 65+, Canada Child Benefit paid to parents with kids under 18, and more. This is not a sustainable economic model, we WILL run out of money. Technically we already have 😂

India has a massive, educated, English-speaking population. India has the largest pool of college graduates who are English-proficient, making them eligible and attractive for global mobility. Canadian colleges and universities actively recruit in India because it's a guaranteed market. Some Canadians have prioritized volume over quality, which has led to systemic issues. You are not alone England, Australia and New Zealand are milking Indians too

Canada's immigration system was never ideal. Even in the 1970's the govt. never knew who was enteringband leaving the country.

I just read a story that over 851,000 immigrants have left Canada on their own because of the high cost of housing and living conditions here , and won't this solve the problem when it comes to immigration in the country . Should have asked Kenny who is going to pay his golf plated pension when the population starts going down and there is less taxpayers paying into the system when we start having a major population decline .

Quebec actually has had its own immigration policy and section at Canadian embassies throughout the world. Those who wanted to immigrate to Canada found it easier and faster to immigrate through Quebec than through Canada in general. This was due to the French language requirements in order to increase the number of French speakers. However, many would abuse the system by immigrating to Quebec, then move to more anglophone provinces and cities like Toronto or Vancouver...
