I’ve lived in Canada for 30 years, but I became unemployed in 2021. This is the first time I’ve been out of work for more than a year and a half. I’ve applied online for over 20 jobs, but unfortunately I haven’t received any responses. This has never happened to me before. When I first came to Canada, it felt very safe—you could even leave your door unlocked at night. Things have changed a lot since then. Nowadays, there are many new immigrants and refugees, which has also changed the job market. I’ve noticed that many companies prefer hiring workers with student visas, because the government subsidizes part of their wages. That makes it more cost-effective for companies compared to hiring Canadian workers. I heard this directly from my former manager. As a result, some of my old colleagues now only get one or two days of work per week, while companies continue bringing in new employees.

Totally agreed. If you want to maintain your culture then do not migrate. But whose fault is this? Canada and some other western countries give too much freedom to immigrants to do whatever they want. So people started keep practicing their own culture instead of adopting the Canadian culture. It's not their fault. That's human nature. Government should have controlled the immigration not letting large ethnic groups created within Canada.

In the US in 2025, ICE has deported half a million who are not in the US legally, and an estimated additional 1.5 million have self-deported, in some cases with government financial incentives. So 50k deportations might represent a comparably active effort for Canada, and 18k might be creditable for a Liberal government. But the effort sounds rather bureaucratic, and focused only on rejected refugee applications. I would want to know how many of these "deportations" are entirely on paper -- "your application has been rejected, please let yourself out at your earliest convenience." They spent roughly $5k per deportee, and that would cover air fare if the deportations were done privately, but adjudication costs money, and governments find many ways to make everything much more expensive. Also, if refugee claims can be judged false or inadequate, where are the efforts to determine whether "students" are really students? By the same token, the world is a dangerous place. I figure all those living in any of the many violent inner-city neighborhoods in the US have reason to fear for their lives. Similar facts are true of many millions around the world, and most of them would be rejected by Canadian immigration because they'd be safe if they simply moved to places they can't afford.

Its always always about attracting "doctors and engineers" whereas the overwhelming majority of Immigrants that I encounter here in AB is from low income groups. Besides of that having a degree from outside of Canada might help you to enter the country but has no practical value inside of it. All the engineers that I know here had to re-study in Canada again.

As a Canadian, I believe that we should reduce immigration while not completely removing it like America has. Especially because crime rate has increased a little since canada became so international

Doesn't matter if a person is an immigrant, what matters is the quality of immigrants Canada permits to come. I am proud most Filipinos immigrate and work and blend in with the society. We try not to be a burden to the government. True too with other nationalities that come over but unfortunately not all.

So by 2027 throughout Canada there is a potential for 50,000 immmigrants seeing their citizenship potential removed and deportation proceedings starting. All this just to reduce the flood of immigrants which has increased crime rate, homelessness, and health care crises across the nation.

The problem isn’t immigration it’s how rapid the immigration was there should’ve been a cap so that there wasn’t a major influx of people that destroyed the culture if immigration was controlled and had a yearly limit to how many people could immigrate that would’ve preserved canadas culture and forced immigrants to assimilate to Canadian culture. But all politicians saw was 💰 so they made it easier.

Big mistake, the only thing saved the Canadian economy after the tariffs, is the massive Trudeau’s immigration, immigrants are consumers as well. If Canada stops immigration then it will be no doubt an American state before the next 30 years end.

One thing also never discussed: because the point system prioritizes specialized labor, almost all immigrants are men. This has led to a massive demographic distortion with somewhere around 56% of people 35 and under in canada being men. This of course makes the birth rate issue much worse and will have future consequences.

Integration is key for Canada as a multicultural country to coexist. Immigration needs reforming i.e.no cash jobs whatsoever, intl students will have to intl student fees, no handouts to asylum seekers who aren't from a war torn country. Highschoolers must be given priority in local jobs, it's up to the franchise owners to work their schedules up. It's ok if the cost of the product increases. This will help wages keep up with inflation. No free pregnancy trips, if you want to have your child born here make sure you pay up.

We are not a number. Wow, their attitude now. Not an immigration asset for Canada.

As an immigrant to Canada (in 1982), my family and I integrated into Canadian culture. That is what immigrants used to do. Yes, you can keep aspects of your own culture, but the expectation was that you become Canadians first and foremost. I don't see that with many new immigrants today. They just milk Canada for all it is worth and try to make it a version of their country of origin. I love diversity and multiculturalism, but it has gone way too far IMO.

You want to know what broke Canada's immigration system. Look up the Supreme Court case, the Singh decision. That was the dynamite in the dam that opened the flood..

with the influx of immigration to help pay taxes, why is Canada still in debt?

Canada must repeat what it did in the 1930's and the 1940's. Canada needs to bring 5 million immigrants from Eastern Europe, like Poland, Portugal, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, Bosnia, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Macedonia etc. Just look at the Eastern Europeans in Canada, they and their Canadian born children and grandchildren have learned and speak English language fluently. In Canada, people speak English and French. The British and the French values must be upheld. God save the King.

A 15K reduction by the Carney government is insulting. There are multiple immigration catergories- add them all together its more like 1 million a year, not 400k. Wake up Canada, this policy has serious impacts on many components of your life and future generations of your family's life.

Mass Immigration continues to be a problem in Canada, and until Carney gets this under control Canadians will increasing be opposed to it.

I get what people are saying in regards to the more recent influx BUT for everyone talking about deportation……..you DO REALIZE THAT all of us who aren’t Native ARE immigrants & at some point we or our ancestors did this to the Native people. Just think about it & again I get WHY people feel that way but we ALL essentially took Canada from the Native people so we ALL as a country NEED to do better!!!! 👍🙂

One branch of my family came to Camada in the 1600's and married a woman of First Nation origin whose people had been here for centuries. I have no problem with immigrants to Canada. They have enriched our country.

I have scored 18 out of 20. 2 or 3 question was outside of this video. 1 that I can remeber was - The Canadian Coat of Arms symbolizes __ the answer suppose to be - Canada's history, unity, and heritage, blending British, French, and distinctly Canadian symbols, with the maple leaf representing all Canadians and the shield quadrants showing England (lions), France (fleur-de-lis), Scotland (lion), and Ireland (harp). I got that one wrong. Anothe one included a true/false question with the names of poet (not the names mentioned in the video). I marked it as true but I guess it also went wrong. Immigration is a federal responsibility, not provincial and Canada should remain a welcoming country to all immigrants imo, but, if you're here on a work or student visa, newcomers should have to prove employment, training, full-time enrollment, and residency on a quarterly basis. It would drastically limit people becoming ghosts in the system. Refugees and asylum seekers should be allowed 1 appeal only and removed immediately if their claim has been denied. A 90-day grace period should be enacted to get their paperwork and affairs in order. If you're here for a better life, steps should be taken to ensure you're actively trying to accomplish that goal until citizenship is granted. Jmho.

The problem is, if the immigrants keep coming in, it would change canada so much that it ceases to be a liberal democratic country that values people's rights; it's easy enough for immigrants to "roll back" their beliefs to a previous version, if even one or two charismatic new immigrants start fomenting those beliefs. The very thing could undermine itself, so there should be tighter bordres. The people who've been there since 1979 don't have to leave.

The United States government should be harshly criticizing Canada's immigration standards.
