The national school food program is definitely worthwhile. There’s a lot of children out there whose parents are short on time and cash to provide proper nutrition. It’s a terrible sad thing we should consider bringing back home economics into the classroom.

All international students are required to provide documents and statement letters in their student visa applications to prove that they intend to return to their home countries after their studies. The only thing that is expected (not guaranteed in any way) is a post-graduation work permit to give them a chance to acquire Canadian work experience and have enough points to apply for permanent residency if they choose to. The government should only be responsible for those who were already selected and approved for residency before changes to the regulations. All future applicants should be evaluated based on the latest changes. That is not new, and all current immigrant citizens had to adapt to the changes to requirements back in their time as well.

BC affordable housing used to be a wait of a few months at most, now it takes years, and yes they take people who just walked in to the country. Older Canadians and vulnerable people are not a priority. For that there are shelters, which are not homes, at all.

I am a new permanent resident in Canada. This video is very true regarding our integration. You are absolutely right. Newcomers must integrate, as it is the beginning of a new life in a new environment. What I do not fully agree with is when you complain about the social benefits given by the government to newcomers. It is not free money; we will pay it back later in taxes. We cannot build life projects depending on these benefits. Ask each newcomer if they are satisfied with these benefits rather than a good job. We want to contribute to the economy of this beautiful country. For example, I came to Canada with specific goals, including starting an IT company, which was difficult to achieve at home due to lack of opportunities. So, don't blame immigrants too much; in my opinion, responsibilities should be shared among all of us, including the government.

CBC keeps the propaganda rolling on and on..... anyone coming across the boarder gets free health care period but if you are a senior citizen in canada you lose your savings and property if you are admitted to a nursing home.... or have to stay in the hospital waiting to get into a nursing home FACT

Canada is still taking in 400k immigrants this year, that is no small number. Just building homes for 400k people in the major cities is a challenge.

Brampton, my home and native land, has made me a millionaire

It’s happening here in California too. I’m all for diversity but when a demographic settles in an area and takes over it’s not fair to everyone else. Prime examples are Fremont and Pleasanton both my home towns. I moved away intentionally because everyone I knew growing up is gone.

How about we all just stay home till illegal migration is under control .

They start in Brampton then spread across the country even way way up North, good luck getting a job, these people took all of the jobs we used to get to get experience and our first cars and our deposits for our first homes. Thanks Liberal government.

As an immigrant of Canada, I migrated here in 1999 when I was like 4 years old, I love Canada, and I consider myself Canadian, with a Jamaican background, I share my culture, but I assimilated to Canadian culture because this is where I live, my home, I want to be part of Canadian culture not too change it.

I like you & your attitude about coming to Canada. I’m subscribing. I feel for the young girl looking for a job. There are tons of jobs on indeed in my city. I apply for both part & full time. I apply for at least 10-20 a day. I’m not getting calls for interviews. I’ve even applied twice to one job because I was not chosen but 2 weeks later the same position was back. I’m fortunate enough to not have to work. I have a husband that makes a very good salary that pays for all of the bills , groceries & vacations. Up until Covid collapsed my 2 franchises & I was sinking more money in than making it I had to sell one for 1/3 of what I paid for it & give the other away. I started a small business at home doing lash extensions. I have my regular clients. But if I want to save my own money it’s not sustainable or steady. I want to work because I enjoy leaving my home not to just go grocery shopping or visit family. That’s even if they are home from work. I like having a purpose. I’m skilled in accounting, cleaning, sales, marketing, customer service you name it. Many might say that I’m very lucky. I am very blessed but it’s also very lonely. Plus I have always worked & had independence. I hate asking my husband to send me money so I can pay my cell, credit card bills. I don’t even go shopping without him for new clothes because I rely on him to pay for those too. Hypothetically we broke up tomorrow I’d be screwed. I worry about if he dies. There’s life insurance but we still have a mortgage to pay & monthly bills. Plus of course I’d make sure his kids got some too. Not to mention I’ve had mental health struggles with social anxiety & agoraphobia years ago. The more I stay home the more I get anxious about going out. Days can get boring & then I find myself napping all afternoon. I need a job. I just want my own money. I don’t want to go to my husband every 3 months & ask him to send me 2000.00 to clear up my overdraft for one business day. I don’t even want to have to use it. Sorry for the rant but I feel that even when filing out applications many times I’m asked if I’m racialized. In other words is my skin brown.

STOP handing out permanent residency status for students. Mm and 5 year citizenship process, and grandparents and parent visas. Maybe put military service attachment and see how many will really stay. Make it mandatory that they can only apply for refugee status from home country. Not at the airport.

pretty wild how basic cable is a luxury honestly. Ive had it for a few months when my and my g/f moved to our very first apartment like 15-20 years ago and its been outa the budget ever since. Used to be in every middle class home across Canada
