I am skilled multi device technician (NOC 22311) and have 3 years on canadian experience. repaired over 3000 devices for air canada, canada post, bank of montreal, various schools, hospital and colleges. Many companies now use AI to prescreen resumes, so if your resume isn’t ATS-friendly, it often never gets seen by a human. Even if you make it past that stage, there are endless AI-driven assessments before you even have a chance to speak with someone. And when you finally do, it’s often yet another layer of screening rather than a real interview. I know I bring value — I consistently receive compliments from customers across cultures for speaking clearly, precisely, and making their experience enjoyable. Yet I find myself competing with younger candidates who can work longer hours, or new immigrants that companies often prioritize, sometimes with government incentives. At 55, I feel like I’m being overlooked despite my proven skills and professionalism. Right now, I live with my retired parents and should be caring for them. Instead, my father is helping me pay my bills so I don’t ruin the credit I worked so hard to build. If I don’t secure a job soon, I fear I’ll lose everything else I’ve managed to hold onto. The stress is overwhelming — I cry daily, and on top of everything, I also face health issues of my own, but I have no space to focus on them because survival takes priority. Canada today feels very different from the country I grew up in. Since the pandemic, things have become harder in every way — jobs, housing, and simply living. Even if I manage to secure work, rent alone now takes up nearly 75% of what I’d earn, not even including other basic bills. It’s disheartening to feel like no matter how hard I push, I can’t get ahead.

I was born in Canada and am a citizen who has paid all taxes on time and followed all the laws. I have been threatened by the government several times for no reason and when I suffered job loss, and EI ran out, was just told I was out of luck. I am a new permanent resident in Canada. This video is very true regarding our integration. You are absolutely right. Newcomers must integrate, as it is the beginning of a new life in a new environment. What I do not fully agree with is when you complain about the social benefits given by the government to newcomers. It is not free money; we will pay it back later in taxes. We cannot build life projects depending on these benefits. Ask each newcomer if they are satisfied with these benefits rather than a good job. We want to contribute to the economy of this beautiful country. For example, I came to Canada with specific goals, including starting an IT company, which was difficult to achieve at home due to lack of opportunities. So, don't blame immigrants too much; in my opinion, responsibilities should be shared among all of us, including the government.

Every student visa holder got a work visa. they took jobs from Canadian youths. All work visa holders which are students will be PR or refugees. Canadian government will continue to increase income tax. look at meat prices in canada, look at egg or milk price.

Canada has population growth problem and government tried solving it by laxing immigration laws. For example Canada can't even build it's own car because it would take massive investment and it won't be profitable because of it's tiny population comparing to other countries therefor making the Canadian economy limited.

Canada government has to frequently check all businesses owned by people who came to Canada and are Canadians by naturalization. Because, when they hire employees they hire their people no other people and if they hire outside their community they hire one or may be two. That is it. So businesses in canada have to be checked if the employees are from different country of orgin.

I heard the government allowed 800,000 new immigrants into Canada in the first 6 months. Were they all the same demographic?

For the last decade, Canada has been aggresively trying to boost its population in order to avoid a population collapse among native born Canadians in the next 20 years. Demographics are destiny. Governments need people to support the economy and tax system. You can’t have economic growth without population growth.

Just to be clear, federal government and IRCC make decisions on our refugee system and it has doubled since 2017, spending over 2.5 billion in taxpayer dollars. Now it's costing us nearly 100 million to remove them. All while homelessness population has doubled in Canada over same time period. Forget the figure heads of the parties, don't forget this when you're deciding what party to vote for

I am emigrating to Canada as a permanent resident and I'd like to weigh in. You have to have $12,200 before you can arrive, you don't get government funded healthcare for 3 months or other benefits. I agree with this policy

Canada’s fertility rate collapsed to ~1.25 (historic low). Instead of supporting families, housing, and wages, government chose population replacement via mass immigration. That’s not demographic policy — that’s demographic outsourcing.

Just in case you guys didn’t get the memo, the government plans on raising the population of Canada to 100 million people by 2050 is what their plan is we don’t have the infrastructure or the housing or the medical staff or the schooling to make this possible, but they’re gonna try it anyways

This is why our government services are maxed out, housing cost etc.. it affects everyone in Canada one way or another.
