I was born and raised in Canada. Can I claim that I'm a refugee and live better than I am now?

I have many Indian friends who came to Canada over the years. My friends’ families came here for a better life, to integrate into Canadian society, to adopt our values and have started successful businesses based on those shared values. Sadly things seem to have shifted in the past 10 years…

Canada and it's citizens are AMAZING for all the programs that help facilitate this. Canada's food banks are the most generous in the entire world. Come one, come all - Canada will give you free health insurance and better than basic income, just claim refugee. It'll take years to progress. Canada will also give interest free loans while you're here. Most just pool up their funds and buy businesses outright. There is simply no reason why not to leave America and go to Canada.

this happens in every country and for centuries, nothing new and yes we can do better to those that comment here, provide support when you can, come up with solutions and do something about rather than complain about it.

It isn’t nearly enough. It would be better to secure our borders so people can’t just walk across. It isn’t rocket science. We do not have the responsibility to take in every person who crosses our border especially when their first step on western land was the US.

They all realize Canada is a much better country

Immigration is essential for Canada to survive.. but... it needs to be a reasonable, controlled intake. Global situations have pushed Canada to take more than they could manage. We don't need to stop immigration, just get control of it again. Also, yes, people coming in need to become Canadian... if you come here it's because you expect it to be better than where ever you left... so you need to embrace what's here, not try and change what's here to whatever you left.

We can't solve the problems in other countries, or the world, by simply opening our borders to all. A large percentage of refugee claimants are fleeing economic poverty, not political persecution. Its unfortunate that Trudeaus promises/actions have compounded our problems and are costing us a great deal in deportation management, but the alternative would be much worse. Lets change the system for the better, and develop ways to increase our birthrates internally.

Canada is the most friendly country in the world, they should accept alll the refugees all around thr world! That's they responsibility, and they are glad to do so😊😊😊😊Make the world a better place

Yes it’s important to know but the people may be in different areas such as law enforcement. Each city town and borough has that information. I agree 100%..we are ALL brought here in hopes of a better life..which means one must assimulate to the countries belief systems and customes..while maintaning your own at the same time..assimulation is just respecting all people.

I wish i had a fulltime job that pays me $21 an hour. Shes doing a lot better than most people for sure. Its not only the youth that arw having a hard time finding work, its ALL ages. People get laid off then have these same issues

It is not as simple as more or less people. The first woman in the story was an educated working professional. Canada wants and needs people like that. Canada just needs to do a better job of screening people coming in. Canada still needs good capable people coming in.

What can Citizens do about it?! The government has to make changes before anything gets better.

In no situations should anyone be getting for free better health benefit than tax payers.
