Canadian colleges and universities actively recruit in India because it's a guaranteed market. Some Canadians have prioritized volume over quality, which has led to systemic issues. As a multi-generational, born-and-raised Canadian citizen. Recently, I have been unemployed for 1 year and 2 months, which is the longest I have ever gone without a job in my entire life. My EI has run out, and during this stressful time, I have only had 4 actual interviews with real human beings. I am also a caregiver for both of my parents, and working remotely has been my profession for the last 7 years. Remote work allows me to both care for them and bring in a full-time income. Despite having 30 years of customer service experience, I find myself being overlooked. Many companies now use AI to prescreen resumes, so if your resume isn’t ATS-friendly, it often never gets seen by a human. Even if you make it past that stage, there are endless AI-driven assessments before you even have a chance to speak with someone. And when you finally do, it’s often yet another layer of screening rather than a real interview. I know I bring value — I consistently receive compliments from customers across cultures for speaking clearly, precisely, and making their experience enjoyable. Yet I find myself competing with younger candidates who can work longer hours, or new immigrants that companies often prioritize, sometimes with government incentives. At 55, I feel like I’m being overlooked despite my proven skills and professionalism. Right now, I live with my retired parents and should be caring for them. Instead, my father is helping me pay my bills so I don’t ruin the credit I worked so hard to build. If I don’t secure a job soon, I fear I’ll lose everything else I’ve managed to hold onto. The stress is overwhelming — I cry daily, and on top of everything, I also face health issues of my own, but I have no space to focus on them because survival takes priority. Canada today feels very different from the country I grew up in. Since the pandemic, things have become harder in every way — jobs, housing, and simply living. Even if I manage to secure work, rent alone now takes up nearly 75% of what I’d earn, not even including other basic bills. It’s disheartening to feel like no matter how hard I push, I can’t get ahead.

It’s time to stop all these creative wars that’s going on.Canadian are suffering financially and our monies are supporting war when Canadians are struggling to buy food. Th3 government needs to do something about this problem now.

When you get your residency, suddenly you start quitting your job and rely on government's social welfare . As a tax payer obviously I would like those benefits to go to Canadians first.

All international students are required to provide documents and statement letters in their student visa applications to prove that they intend to return to their home countries after their studies. The only thing that is expected (not guaranteed in any way) is a post-graduation work permit to give them a chance to acquire Canadian work experience and have enough points to apply for permanent residency if they choose to. The government should only be responsible for those who were already selected and approved for residency before changes to the regulations. All future applicants should be evaluated based on the latest changes. That is not new, and all current immigrant citizens had to adapt to the changes to requirements back in their time as well.

Wild it costs 6k to get to states. I say that because the Canadian government gives them 8k when they get here

Every student visa holder got a work visa. they took jobs from Canadian youths. All work visa holders which are students will be PR or refugees. Canadian government will continue to increase income tax. look at meat prices in canada, look at egg or milk price.

Dusabled 60 year old here. My government is kind enough to give this 6th generation canadian 940 dollars per month to try to exist on. All my family fought in ww1 and ww2 as well as other peace keeping etc.

Immigration wasn’t designed to help Canadians. It was designed to protect profits. The rich gained. Corporations gained. Government gained statistics. Society paid the cost.

Canada has population growth problem and government tried solving it by laxing immigration laws. For example Canada can't even build it's own car because it would take massive investment and it won't be profitable because of it's tiny population comparing to other countries therefor making the Canadian economy limited.

Canada government has to frequently check all businesses owned by people who came to Canada and are Canadians by naturalization. Because, when they hire employees they hire their people no other people and if they hire outside their community they hire one or may be two. That is it. So businesses in canada have to be checked if the employees are from different country of orgin.

We as Canadians allowed this to happen we didn't fight back for what was our right and now this has happened and ppl are complaining about it. if you want to fix the problem we need to band together and force the government to change.

For the last decade, Canada has been aggresively trying to boost its population in order to avoid a population collapse among native born Canadians in the next 20 years. Demographics are destiny. Governments need people to support the economy and tax system. You can’t have economic growth without population growth.

The Canadian government is so vocally against becoming the 51st state, but are apparently perfectly fine with being the 29th state.
