Guess what, people born in Canada are ALSO people and with the job shortages they need the jobs more than people who are able to spend thousands to fly half way around the world. The only "tragedy" will be the people who really NEED the jobs will once again have access to them..

If you move to another country you need to be part of their culture and their way of life, speak their language and become one of them..but people love to move to Canada to take advantage of all the freedoms and continue doing what they are doing.

Well Visa expires but those people have update their status and already has new one some of them got PR. But still their visa expired that means that’s also come into this number 2.9M visas. Yes there are some people overstaying and need to be removed otherwise there will be problems. But let’s just keep our facts right

As a beloved-canada, i give 2 advice. The first, canada needs not only limit immigration but also set/establish quota for each regions/countries where have a huge number immigants apply to canada (for example: india 30.000 immigrant/year, china 20.000 immigrants/year,....). The second, canada must empower for each territories/provinces to decide how much foreign people can study/work/live in there

It's about time considering there are over 500,000 thousand people ordered out of Canada and never showed up plus 600,000 that are undocumented in Canada more is needed

Immigration is essential for Canada to survive.. but... it needs to be a reasonable, controlled intake. Global situations have pushed Canada to take more than they could manage. We don't need to stop immigration, just get control of it again. Also, yes, people coming in need to become Canadian... if you come here it's because you expect it to be better than where ever you left... so you need to embrace what's here, not try and change what's here to whatever you left.

Canada needs to learn from Singapore on having max quotas on ethnic populations in any given area. They have people from everywhere, blending together.

Not true. Most Canadians want smaller numbers and tighter requirements. The students and TEMPORARY workers think they automatically will get permanent residency, when in fact there are no guarantees..Why these people act like Canada did something wrong? Having that many people come is a strain on all our resources and job market. We have a right to decide who we need and want. Store manager is not a job that Canadians won't do.

For the last decade, Canada has been aggresively trying to boost its population in order to avoid a population collapse among native born Canadians in the next 20 years. Demographics are destiny. Governments need people to support the economy and tax system. You can’t have economic growth without population growth.

Well.. Arguably Nova Scotia had the advantage of being a eastern port with the potential to be greater GDP than Manhattan. Many people blame its zero or negative growth on restrictive immigration policy, whereas the USA pretty much just let everyone in. Mind you, nowadays you need to be making about $140,000 USD to survive as a renter in Manhattan, so - maybe it was the correct move.

People who arrived to the land 150 years ago having issue with the people arriving 50 years ago. Growup we need new minds to keep city going thats what happened 150, 50yrs ago and now today.

With Artificial Intelligence eventually ingraining into all the workplaces, years to come less and less people needed in the workforce, and esp. in the service line and entry level job.

It is not as simple as more or less people. The first woman in the story was an educated working professional. Canada wants and needs people like that. Canada just needs to do a better job of screening people coming in. Canada still needs good capable people coming in.

There is not enough housing for any more people. We need to house the unhoused, we already have. We could adjust better. Government housing is required.

CANADA does NOT HAVE a 'Housing Crisis". The housing crisis is in Vancouver & Toronto, because we let ALL the immigrants move there. But there are a thousand small towns across the country that need immigrants to stop from becoming ghost towns. The failure was in the Liberal Party deciding that getting the immigrant vote was how to win elections, so they let immigrants decide where to go, which didn't help the country. I should know.. I owned a 28-suite apt. block in Winnipeg (not even a small town!) and my property value dropped below the mortgage cost because more people were leaving Manitoba than entering at that time. I lost my block. Thanks, Liberal Party of Canada.

It seems that tariffs and job shortages have limited the employment opportunities needed to help them. Additionally, they can't afford to hire people in this economy.

Stick to the old points based system selecting the people coming in,exceptions for attracting talent in high tech,and have just a decent number of people coming.Yes we do need immigration but not over immigration for economical and social and integration reasons.

Heightened scrutiny undermines Canada's reputation as a welcoming destination? Isn't this the point? Meanwhile, lax policies allow too much abuse of our "wecoming" system. Finally, with the US tightening their borders, Canada will be the desired destination for North America, and our policies must prepare for this likely outcome. One last point is this: i would rather this country take care of the first nations peoples, the dispossessed, those marginalized within our society and our elderly who've contributed to this country's growth and prosperity but, due to one or another reason, dont have workplace pensions for retirement. Once we've sorted out our own peoples, seen properly to the needs of those who were actually born here, ensured our hospitals and schools are well funded, then we can look to service the needs of a migrant population.
