This feels 6-8 years too late, You could even argue it as far back as 2010. We should've never kept our numbers at such high of a % of our population, it should've always been focused industries only such as agriculture. Instead our business model is basically : Cheap Labour via Worker Visas, Housing Market due to quick and massive population boost and Student Visas making them pay 3.5x more than regular students that encourages post-secondary schools to choose international over domestic which may also have long-term consequences as we see many immigrants go back to their home or take their degree to a higher paying nation.

Deportation is always expensive. Using the numbers in this video, it's over $4k per deportee. The real problem is that too many are let into Canada in the first place. As well, it sounds like they are mainly going after refugee claimants, but there are similarly large, if not larger, numbers of TFWs and international "students" (who are not really students) with expired visas.

The fact we allowed over 3 million temporary work visa all from India should be looked into! What there are no other countries?

To be here as a citizen today, I had to pay CAD$35.000 for a two years program in Toronto. But to get the study visa I had to prove a lot of things, including money, proof that I had paid the college (at least 1st year), English, a Bachelor degree (education), a clear criminal history, and what attach me to my country. I had to study hard, and only after graduation I could have 3y work permit. By working in Canada I could get more point to become a permanent resident. After 2y having my PR, I could get the citizenship, but I had to prove I pay taxes, clear criminal history, and other things that show I would be a good citizen. So, I worked (and still work) hard, I am currently in two jobs and at school taking my masters, I respect the laws, I respect the culture (I never tried to impose mine), and I pay over CAD$10.000 in taxes per year on my income. That said, I feel as a slap on my face when fraudulent and dishonest people are able to be here cheating the system in any way. Some people may say I am an immigrant against immigration. NO, I am in favor of people taking the right path to immigrate, and make real contributions for this country, not coming to be scammers and criminals.

When she says ‘they’ promised a better life, she’s talking about her immigration agent. Canada only ever issued her and millions like her a ‘temporary’ visa. I’m empathetic, I came with a temporary visa originally but I did not ‘invest’ anything into my life but the bare minimum until my status was permanent.

In the UK if you don't show up, you breach the terms of your student visa and they will revoke the vis after a prior warning.

even in the little town where i live in western canada there is a community collage and a lot of punjabi's that have straight up told me that they are here for school but only go to 1 class once maybe 2 times a week for just over an hour and the rest of the time they are here working on student visa's where the government is paying half the wage prompting bigger business to highering these exchange student instead of local people

A very good move. I hope genuine people will be looked after and criminals, bad elements & weirdos will be checked thoroughly. However I hope the honest and sincere people will be recognised. The IRCC policy of refusing Visas to one and all with the same statement of overstaying and presumption that the visitors will not return is a standard excuse of visa refusal. This should be more foolproof and effective.

i have a strong suspicion the deportees surrendered willingly. it's the ones who don't show up that are of very high concern. there are 4.7 million expired visas where ppl have never kept their promise.

How about cuts in temporary foreign workers? How about making sure the 3.5 million on temporary visas are getting out?

So, I am applying to TEMPORARY working visa, and when that term is finished, and the government decides not to extend my TEMPORARY visa, I say, oh, wait, I invested so much money in this to be PERMANENT, nobody does such an investment to COME BACK to my country... Interesting.

This is the system: Student immigrates to Canada on a student Visa, gets a Diploma which they use to get a Post-Graduation Work Permit, this is used to get Permanent Residence (PR). After 3 years apply for Citizenship, which makes it easier to bring their parents into Canada. Those parents apply for PR, then wait 3 years, after which they can also apply for Citizenship. If they are 55+ years old, they don't need to take the test or prove they can speak the English. They just apply and get become Citizens. All of this while enjoying the benefits of a Socialized Healthcare, Old Age Pension after 65+, Canada Child Benefit paid to parents with kids under 18, and more. This is not a sustainable economic model, we WILL run out of money. Technically we already have 😂

what international talent canada wants ? its just want international money. I am skilled multi device technician (NOC 22311) and have 3 years on canadian experience. repaired over 3000 devices for air canada, canada post, bank of montreal, various schools, hospital and colleges. I see no chance to get PR and extend my expiring visa. Government just keep inviting the French speakers.

Earlier visa was based on interview, then only those who were eligible would get the visa, now anyone can get an online visa, it is only on the basis of documents and you already know that here documents are made by paying money. Rest is in the hands of God

All international students are required to provide documents and statement letters in their student visa applications to prove that they intend to return to their home countries after their studies. The only thing that is expected (not guaranteed in any way) is a post-graduation work permit to give them a chance to acquire Canadian work experience and have enough points to apply for permanent residency if they choose to. The government should only be responsible for those who were already selected and approved for residency before changes to the regulations. All future applicants should be evaluated based on the latest changes. That is not new, and all current immigrant citizens had to adapt to the changes to requirements back in their time as well.

Well Visa expires but those people have update their status and already has new one some of them got PR. But still their visa expired that means that’s also come into this number 2.9M visas. Yes there are some people overstaying and need to be removed otherwise there will be problems. But let’s just keep our facts right

Every student visa holder got a work visa. they took jobs from Canadian youths. All work visa holders which are students will be PR or refugees. Canadian government will continue to increase income tax. look at meat prices in canada, look at egg or milk price.
