I'm Canadian born and raised. I've been driving since I was 18 years old that's 27 years of driving i got to say the driving is really bad. Some people shouldn't even have their license but yet they do. People don't even know how to share the road. You put your signal on to change lanes and some drivers actually speed up. That's how scary it is to drive.

Survivors often did not teach their children their traditional languages, partly out of fear of punishment and partly because their own fluency had been impacted, which inhibited the languages from being passed to the next generation. Discriminatory Legislation: The Indian Act: This legislation, along with other colonial policies, was used to suppress Indigenous cultural expression, including language. Official Languages Act: Canada's official language policies recognize only English and French as dominant languages, effectively marginalizing the over 60 distinct Indigenous languages that existed on the land long before European settlement. Dispossession of Land: Forcible removal of Indigenous communities from their traditional lands and onto reserves disrupted the deep connection between language, culture, and the natural environment. Indigenous languages often encode unique knowledge about local ecosystems, which was lost when communities were displaced. Social Stigmatization: Colonial ideologies viewed Indigenous cultures and languages as "inferior" or "savage," promoting English and French as the languages of "modernity" and "progress". This created a social hierarchy where speaking an Indigenous language could be a barrier to education and employment opportunities in the dominant society.  Current Situation and Revitalization Efforts The legacy of these policies has resulted in low numbers of fluent Indigenous language speakers today, with many languages considered endangered or critically endangered. However, there are significant ongoing efforts toward language revitalization.  The Canadian federal government passed the Indigenous Languages Act in 2019, which aims to support the efforts of Indigenous peoples to reclaim, revitalize, maintain, and strengthen their languages. Indigenous communities, educational institutions, and organizations are actively working to preserve languages through immersion programs, community initiatives, and documentation. UNESCO has declared 2022 to 2032 the International Decade of Indigenous Languages to draw global attention to the urgent need for preservation and promotion.

Canada must repeat what it did in the 1930's and the 1940's. Canada needs to bring 5 million immigrants from Eastern Europe, like Poland, Portugal, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Serbia, Bosnia, Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Macedonia etc. Just look at the Eastern Europeans in Canada, they and their Canadian born children and grandchildren have learned and speak English language fluently. In Canada, people speak English and French. The British and the French values must be upheld. God save the King.

Here's the whole problem/situation summarized: Canada has been getting treated like it's a vacation resort rather than a country. And yeah, it doesn't entirely matter who exactly is treating it this way. Those who move to and those that live in have been doing this. Which is unfortunate, it's supposed to be far better than this but peace has made people delusional in a way and started to treat Canada like a resort for their early retirement. While trying to act like they AREN'T retirees.

I get what people are saying in regards to the more recent influx BUT for everyone talking about deportation……..you DO REALIZE THAT all of us who aren’t Native ARE immigrants & at some point we or our ancestors did this to the Native people. Just think about it & again I get WHY people feel that way but we ALL essentially took Canada from the Native people so we ALL as a country NEED to do better!!!! 👍🙂

I have friends and colleagues I care deeply about that will be negatively affected by this... and I still support it! Canada needs to prioritize its citizens and it continues to fail to do this in so many sectors. It succeeds in others but food and job insecurity, and then housing, are massive issues in this country that could easily be avoided if the government stepped in. It doesn't matter what your political views are - take care of the citizens, even if it hurts people you care about that aren't citizens.

One branch of my family came to Camada in the 1600's and married a woman of First Nation origin whose people had been here for centuries. I have no problem with immigrants to Canada. They have enriched our country.

There are a lot of issues around immigration. Firstly, the IRCC filters receiving low skilled people, second most of them are located on main cities and provinces, most of the country is empty and finally if you are gonna keep your traditions here, do it inside your four walls. I begin to understand why Québec is willing to be independent.

as an Indian i believe Canada should do something to fix this issue because not only is this destroying the somewhat good reputation we had, its also rendering people unable to find jobs. I have some good friends who are living in Canada(they're canadian) and are drastically searching for a job they're overqualified for which just breaks my heart

I don't know anyone who is "divided" on this issue. Many of my friends are 1st gen immigrants, a couple of them had to go back to their home country after their visa expired, they were bummed that they personally couldn't stay, but they also openly complained that the levels of immigration was unsustainable, competition for rent/jobs/healthcare too high and felt that some people would have to go back home and it happened to be them.

Doesn't matter. There are groups of different nationalities migrating every dofferent global event that impacts them wanting to leave their home country. The world can be a better place. People in power don't want it to be. That's that.

Immigration is a federal responsibility, not provincial and Canada should remain a welcoming country to all immigrants imo, but, if you're here on a work or student visa, newcomers should have to prove employment, training, full-time enrollment, and residency on a quarterly basis. It would drastically limit people becoming ghosts in the system. Refugees and asylum seekers should be allowed 1 appeal only and removed immediately if their claim has been denied. A 90-day grace period should be enacted to get their paperwork and affairs in order. If you're here for a better life, steps should be taken to ensure you're actively trying to accomplish that goal until citizenship is granted. Jmho.

This is why I desperately wish there was an actual Libertarian party to vote for in elections! There is a party, but they have not gotten enough signatures to be able to run yet, I don't even know if there is an office or representative in Ontario right now! I wish! Their policies (on paper) seem great, and geared more towards a 'Canada first'/'Canadians First' approach. They touch on a lot of topics and there seem to be a lot of things they want to change! But a government is still a government, they will be motivated by money regardless of any good intentions they may have. So if and when things change, WE NEED TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE! We as the citizens have the power to change things for the better! It's just unfortunate that I see so many people getting pushed down or ignored or hated because they are speaking their mind. Remember, Canada dosen't have laws like the US, our freedoms aren't as protected nor do we have the same freedoms they do (like owning and protecting your own property, or self defense!) We as people need to start being honest and expressing things instead of being terrified of the backlash (of which there will be in these times). The only way we can make progress is by deciding to get out of our comfort zones and standing for what is right! For the freedoms and protections we deserve! To make a future worth living for us and our children! It will not be easy, but when is change ever easy? I hope that one day I won't be terrified of the thought of bringing a life into this world and country. I hope I can be stable enough to be able to give my future children a decent life. But right now? I would never want to have children, things are too unstable and I don't want to bring a child into this country and force them to live a terrible life they never asked for! I desperately want to be able to keep hoping for a better future, a better country, and people who can enjoy their lives instead of constantly worrying and stressing about everything. I hope some can consider looking into the Libertarian party as well! They may be small right now, but they seem to be wanting to right the wrongs that have occured.

Canadians have always tried to be polite and welcome immigrants. People came here for a peaceful safe lifestyle and future but our leaders have allowed too many too fast and overwhelmed the system. Many immigrants that have arrived now don’t want a Canadian lifestyle they want to replace it with the system they left behind. Our leaders seem to support this and want working Canadians to pay for it. This is the anger that is festering as leaders ignore our concerns
