As someone who is born in Canada as an Indian. This is absolutely sad to here. I want the best for Canadians who are born and raised here. I have 10 years of experience working in the nation I was raised and I am having some people have my job who aren't even fit for the job. It makes no sense to me. Our wages have stalled due to international students for a better life, but at the end I want money just like other Canadians who have been here for ages. Also we need to end why our government allows lucrative hiring contracts overseas for cheaper positions in certain degrees and diplomas. In addition, why are all of our call centers placed all over the world. From Africa, south east Asia, South Asia. Those jobs can be available here. We can have a decomcratic country if our country didn't care about just "growth" we didn't need more immigration. We needed systematic change in government, schools, common sense, I could go on. I think us as Canadians don't know how corrupt the world really is. Look at other countries and how they work. It's lucrative essentives to benefit only certain people. I would rather have our tax payer money be used to fix the system. My dad's been here since the 1980s and he is sad for everyone. This is a loss on both ends. We didn't create new universities, new highways to support the population, no hospitals, new schools. I remember when my class sizes were 18 to 20 kids. We need change, not radical because we were never that. Let's do what we do best and be Canadians for us first.

Indian American here, who spent nearly every summer in Canada growing up (and writing from Canada right now). Not all Indians are created equal, just like any other country. Plus, many are poor and just like any other country, social class matters. Canada needs to be way more selective for some time. I love both cultures so it's important that Indian culture doesn't over-run Canadian culture.

I saw it first hand in my workplace. A major delivery company (not Amazon). Used to be mostly Canadians, until about 2 years ago. The majority are now young Indian guys who speak their own language amongst themselves. Even the new manager speaks Hindi. Work conditions have worsened because these people are willing to do much more for low wages. They drive erratically and treat the country like their playground to make money. This is the future of Canada.

I am an Indian student who has struggled to get my papers done, and I have to say this: mass immigration needs to stop. Canada should allow only people who speak good English and who can truly contribute to this country. I am an IT student, and I worked hard to clear $120K in debt through Scotiabank. I could have taken a loan in my home country, but I chose to work here because Canada gave me everything my own country could not. I am deeply grateful for that. But when I see people from my own community walking around in flip-flops, unable to speak even one word of English, it breaks me inside. My city—Brampton—has been completely taken over, and it’s becoming harder to even drive there now. I believe Canada needs to come together and put an end to this. Enough is enough. Immigration should be about quality, not quantity.

When government leaders focus on population and economic growth that's usually is a sign that they aren't balancing the budget correctly. They're trying to increase tax revenue without increasing taxes. I'd look closer at government corruption. Overpopulation destroys the environment. Canada is one of the few places on earth that still has an environment. Russia and Australia are the other ones. Russia's strategy is to look sort of like an ogre and it's too cold. Australia's strategy is to look like they harbor too many dangerous animals and the land is too arid. Canada's strategy is to keep higher taxes than the USA and it's too cold. People tend to gravitate toward lower tax and warmer places. Fewer people is better, it doesn't matter what their race is. I did notice the Indians he talked to were patriotic to their adoptive country, that's a good sign. Host nations like when the new people assimilate.

Let me use this opportunity to bring awareness to the oppression of Tibetans. No, I am not talking about the Tibetans in China. I am talking about Tibetans in occupied South Tibet, which was annexed by India in 1951 and made a state by India in 1987 to become the so-called Arunachal Pradesh. South Tibet includes Tawang, birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama and home to a four-hundred-year-old Tibetan Monastery. The Tibetans in occupied South Tibet are fast becoming strangers in their own native homeland because the Indian government is settling Indians in the region to change the demographic structure of the area and trashing the place just like the Indians did in India or in Canada. The Indians like to mock them, calling them Chinese as a form of insult (sometimes using slurs such as the C* word or the M* word). Rape by Indians in occupied South Tibet is a major source of anger among the locals toward the thuggish Indian occupiers. Another thing is that India doesn't trust the locals and likes to accuse them of being Chinese spies if they don't display enough loyalty to the Indian occupier. The greatest irony and shameless hypocrisy of India and Indians is that the murdered youth's father is serving in the Indian Border Security Force and deployed along the border with China. He is fighting against China for a country that is ready to kill him and his family for looking Chinese. Some years back, yet another rape case by Indian soldiers occurred in Bomdila, South Tibet. The local police detained the two suspects, and the Indian military, fearing that the two suspects would be lynched, stormed the police station, vandalized it, and rescued the two suspects. This leads to massive protests by the local people. Eventually, the unrest caught the attention of New Delhi, and India flew in the defense minister to Bomdila to make a show of force to suppress the protests. Today, South Tibet is restless, and India knows it. This is the reason a law called the AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Power Act) is imposed on South Tibet. AFSPA gives the state the power to detain or kill anyone with impunity. No due process is needed. AFSPA is imposed on areas India deems restless, such as South Tibet and Kashmir. It is a law meant to suppress dissent and instill fear among the populace. The Tibetans in occupied South Tibet are voiceless people because they are not the right kind of Tibetans, so their plight is ignored by the Western world. I have yet to hear from the Western media any concern for the human rights abuses of the Tibetans in occupied South Tibet by India. P.S. I am using the word Tibetan as an umbrella term to include the various Sino-Tibetan Burmese people (Monpa, Abotani (called Lhotba on the Chinese side),..etc. The Sixth Dalai Lama was a Monpa) in South Tibet. The Sixth Dalai Lama is known for his many love poems and romantic escapades outside the Potola Palace. Sadly, his hometown, Tawang, is now under India's occupation since 1951. The Tawang Monastery is the last major frontier monastery before the area merged into the tribal region. It historically enjoyed a close relation with the Beijing central government. I was made aware there are a significant number of Indian students who are applying for students visas, coming to Canada and then withdrawing from the university and flooding the workforce making it difficult for other immigrants from poorer countries to find work. .

Now, the government is doing the same to secure business deals with India. Like India has nothing to offer Canada except labour (with their billion population), and we Canadians cannot find jobs and don't need unskilled workers from India when we can educate our citizens and give them jobs here. There must be a full, transparent investigation into India and its embassy and agents.

It's not race that makes countries great or bad. Since there is just one human race. Its the culture that makes places great. Culture or shared ideas among the populace. Specially ideas of being open minded, living and letting live, freedom, being tolerant etc. These are the best ideas or culture that if held long enough by the majority of the people will turn that place into a great civilization indeed. Every great civilization of history was built through this culture in history. persian empire, macedonian empire, roman empire, british empire and now the united states etc... were/are all very diverse and very tolerant of indians and their ideas... cultural exchange of ideas through indians and receiving diverse viewpoints which helped them become great. However great empires, great places and civilizations never last. They fall down. They fall down once the culture changes. which is natural since culture is not static but dynamic, since it exists only in the minds of people, it can change in the same generation, or in the next - all it takes is replacing existing ideas with other ideas in the minds of people large enough. This is what we are seeing happening in canada and India... a shift of culture. The same culture of responsible for turning India into a terrible country is being adopted by canadians. Meanwhile for the past few decades.. india on the other hand has been adopting the better culture and growing slowly and steadily with many mistakes and hurdles along the way towards a brighter future... slowly because its huge... steadily because it knows where to go.... mistakes and hurdles because its an open democracy... If this cultural shift keeps continuing this way... There will come a time where canada would look more like afghanistan and India will look like the us or scandinavia... However i hope thats not the case. and its just a phase that does not lead to some significant revolution in terms of peoples thinking.

Am a christian from India, who had a PR back in 2013 and had traveled there for the paperwork. I traveled around Toronto for around 15 days and it was a lovely experience back then. All but the Indians I encountered treated me well, to the indians I was another competition for their piece of land (so as to say). I unfortunately didn't settle in Canada due to some family emergency and had to come back to India for good, but on hind sight I think it was for the best, considering how bad the situation is in Canada. If one migrates to another country they should assimilate in the existing culture so that they can keep alive the very soul of the land they moved to, not try to make it another India...

The Indian community isn't just visiting Canada; they are building, funding, and healing it every single day.

India have a good universities because some countries accept their Indian people with bachelor degree as H1B visa program, but most India apply and accepted in Canada as student visa, how many finished and how many leave the country? because they allow them to work at the same time. who would not take advantage to Canadian foreign programs, and those Indian MP's in parliament will support this programs to help their kinds or country fellows to dominate this country.

Indian households in Canada make more on average than native Canadians. To be absolutely clear.. this is not an Indian problem its a government problem. They let in anyone who could spell their name. But before that they let in extremely intelligent and hard working folks from India who are currently upholding this country's tech industry. I know this for a fact as I am in tech and have eyes.

Immigration has increased because the government needs more people for the economy. The population 25+ years ago was enough to keep with the costs and demand. Now, Canada probably has a lot of demand and needs an influx of people both for education and jobs. Indians are enticed to come because they hear about towns that cater towards Indians like Brampton. Chinese people used to be the majority of immigrants and that was because Chinatowns would cater to them. Not to mention, these immigrants likely have temporary worker or student visas. These an whole thing with the student visas but I don't want to get into it. So Amazon and other large companies need a lot of workers for their demand and look outside of Canada to fill the job numbers. Meanwhile, Canadians that have been here for awhile are on the streets and jobless. So basically, Canada needs immigration for its demand but I think when too many people come all at once and from usually one country, Canadians will notice the change and feel the tensions that come with it.

Grew up in Brampton from age 5-10, half a decade of being a kid in such an open suburb area. Many neighbourhoods now we're farmlands and empty lots. The Indian population was just starting to boom, as I thought would all other ethnicities. Regardless of the changes of demographics, Brampton is still such a beautiful city, just taken over by overpopulation at a fast pace. We do not complain, but as a Country we should consider the rate of growth as a positive but also has many negatives. Finding jobs in Brampton is nearly impossible as a young adult - and also looking for new homes with landlords that aren't of Indian descent is becoming a rare occurrence. Changes can be made to benefit both Canadians and Indians as we are known for accepting all cultures, that is what I love about Canada. It is a sight to see when you witness the Indian culture in Brampton, lets not take that away!

As an Indian I am shocked too! Unchecked immigration? How is the mass immigration helping Canada? These illegal colleges created just for immigration, these are open secrets, why these are not tackled? Being in the tech industry I thought I could get PR relatively easily. But everyday I am seeing stories about people moving to western countries, beating the system, not paying taxes - how does that even work?

I'm glad Tyler is more or less neutral in his findings. It's true, many Indian's have come to Canada and I'm sure many do wish for a better life. Canadians understand this, but the methods the government of Canada is doing to push the numbers too high and too quickly is what's surprising to many. It's the accountability of the government that should be under scrutiny. If immigration was moderate and consistent, the social issues would not be as rampant, but social media loves stir the pot. This is also happening while Canada's housing infrastructure is crumbling, healthcare is deteriorating and general cost of living in Canada has skyrocketed and priced many Canadians out of simple living and enjoyment. Do you think Canadians today are as happy or well off as Canadians even 5 years ago? Do the results reflect that of other countries besides Canada?

Indian spirituality penetrated western thinking in the 1960s and that was followed by cuisine from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal etc. So generally people in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, etc have welcomed people from the Indian sub-continent. Obviously immigration whether from India or another country needs to be moderated in order to give the immigrants time to adapt to the Canadian way of life

May I say as a Metis. My family were and are the first people to be described as Canadian and are still acknowledged as the original Canadians. My great Uncles and Aunts fought the British North West Mounted Police at Batoche because the British Colonizers after outlawing fur trade except through the HBC company were further insulted by having their ancestral land sectioned off and given to immigrants. My uncles also were part of the first battle at Seven Oaks when surveyors were surveying and measuring my ancestral cousins land. The British Immigrants were described as the preferred immigrants. TheNorth American Indians, the Metis were described as undesirables and in a memo written to the Indian Affairs Minister during John A MacDonald asking him how best to remove the undesirables Metis from their land. The Metis were not placed on reservations because we never stopped fighting for our homeland rights. What is happening now is a continuation of what happened back when John A MacDonald was Prime Minister. May I also say if these migrates think their customs and regions are so great then stay in your homeland. But unlike the brave Metis who continues to oppose the government and finally 100 years later some our birthrights as the original Canadians have been recognized. My great grandfather and his father were both named Antoine and Charles Henault dit Canada, and to this day from the 1700s some of my cousin’s last name has been Canada since the 1700s. People with Canadian passports don’t make them Canadian. Indians from Indian don’t integrate or intermarry. They impose their culture on the rest of the country. Get rid of them all.
