I am emigrating to Canada as a permanent resident and I'd like to weigh in. You have to have $12,200 before you can arrive, you don't get government funded healthcare for 3 months or other benefits. I agree with this policy

It is not as simple as more or less people. The first woman in the story was an educated working professional. Canada wants and needs people like that. Canada just needs to do a better job of screening people coming in. Canada still needs good capable people coming in.

If we actually want solutions, we should be talking about things like real-time tracking for overstays, linking federal/provincial systems, funding enforcement properly, and setting penalties that are predictable and enforced. Bring in experts not random paper pushers for “gotcha” moments. Sessions like this aren’t about fixing the system, they’re about stoking outrage. And more often than not, it ends up targeting vulnerable groups instead of creating policy that actually works.

My understanding is the program is like a pipeline. To be just, the government should close the entry point, but not eliminate the pipeline until all those who are in it finish the process.

So sad 😢 I remember going there like 25 years or so ago. It was such a great place. So clean & the people were so cool.

Usually there's one person that owns a lot of businesses and sponsors like 30 of them to come work at gas stations, liquor stores, and corner markets.

Curious what experts say "they will give back more to Canada then they will cost in the beginning"? I would like to see some facts to back up that claim and how long that would take.
