The conservative wing of our government is scared of Trump. They were a diminishing rudderless party before him, and now they are fully beholden to him even though they know he's wrecking our economy, wrecking our global collateral and relationships, and wrecking our established systems and processes. They'd rather hold onto their jobs than to push back against him. I hope term limits, and rank choice voting come out of all this, because the American government is fully broken.\n \nTrudeau did amazing here.
Critiques conservative politicians for prioritizing power over principle while condemning Trump's impact on institutions and relationships, with praise for Trudeau's response.

This is about china and you all know that. We talked about putting tariffs On Russia and all they did is decide to work together and now the u.S is trying to stop that. And we are citizens are going to pay the brunt of it, not corporations or billionaires.. We as citizens now have to financially fight back against our own government
Critiques government policy on tariffs and trade relations while arguing citizens bear economic costs that corporations avoid.

Starting this trade war is not only the craziest political decision I have seen in my entire life, it destroys the relationship between the US and its closest allies on purpose. A relation that has been built over decades. People and businesses on both sides of the pond will suffer badly from this idiotic agenda for no real reason. The USA is now officially at trade war with the free world.
Criticizes trade war policy as destructive and idiotic, with concerns about economic and relational consequences.

What a piece of shit. Stop mutilating children! Make drugs against the law again! Pay reparations to the people who were arrested or had their bank accounts seized because they wouldn’t take the jab or spoke out against the Canadian government. He is a talking head and a tyrant, Trudeau is no different than Hitler!!!
Combines harsh criticism of government policies (drug laws, vaccine mandates, financial seizures) with inflammatory comparisons and demands for reparations.

I'm all for referenda, the trouble is when government picks the issue, they are usually doing so for political reasons, not legislative ones. Harper pulled the same thing when he took a first nations treaty agreement that had been twenty years in the making between THREE levels of government and threw it to a referendum of a population that had NO idea what it was about, so they just reacted along racist lines thinking 'first nations are taking over'.
But in any case, a referenda is better than not, sure as hell wish we had Citizens Initiatives in my province to stop some of the horrible public policy decisions.
Analyzes referendum mechanisms critically, provides historical example of government misuse, and argues for better democratic processes like citizen initiatives.

Why would Trump care- he sits in his white house or Trump tower UNEFFECTED- what does he know about the struggle of the AVERAGE AMERICAN?? He can only think of lifestyles like the French Riviera and golf courses. Does he care about what hes doing for the AVERAGE AMERICAN??? His actions speak.

It is quite apparent that bluffs and bullying are not good approaches in dealing with our close allies. We have put the United States in a very shameful standing around the world. I just don't know what is exactly we are doing. Our economy is showing decline and we are losing our friends. So what is the expected end game here?
Analyzes Trump's negotiation strategy as ineffective and harmful to US standing, questioning the strategic rationale.

The US is isolating itself from the world. It is indeed the strongest and the richest country. But the decisions, the current admin has made will damage the United States. Specifically the people of the estates with or without knowing, they will pay for the cost caused by the wrong decision made by MAGA. This is really sad to see how they divide themselves and the world. Only a few of idiots has gotten so much power to harm normal people who are only interested in living a peace and happy life with loved ones or their own family but now their suffer just started.
Criticizes US administration decisions and their harmful consequences while appealing to shared human values of peace and family welfare.

This feels 6-8 years too late, You could even argue it as far back as 2010. We should've never kept our numbers at such high of a % of our population, it should've always been focused industries only such as agriculture.
Instead our business model is basically : Cheap Labour via Worker Visas, Housing Market due to quick and massive population boost and Student Visas making them pay 3.5x more than regular students that encourages post-secondary schools to choose international over domestic which may also have long-term consequences as we see many immigrants go back to their home or take their degree to a higher paying nation.
Detailed critique of immigration policy decisions and their economic consequences (labor exploitation, housing inflation, education system impacts).

this is a 180 from the past 5 years, however, it is a false promise. once the immigration cuts are out of recent memory of the voter base, restaurants begin to need customers (11,000 shuttered in 2 years), colleges get surplus nostalgia, and landlords demand their inflated rental income (see economic rent), the government will ramp the numbers up again.
Analyzes government immigration policy as cyclical and driven by economic interests rather than genuine reform.

Hey Danielle, do these people you are trying to kick out of our social programs pay taxes and contribute to these programs? Why should they have to pay twice? I have a better idea, how about you implement responsible fiscal policy instead of fear mongering against immigrants. It may be a good idea to regain the revenue you lost when you cut corporate taxes.
Critiques government policy on immigration and social programs while arguing for responsible fiscal policy instead of fear-mongering.

As a Canadian who lives in (largely French-speaking) Quebec, I don't know if our gov't even NEEDS to tariff American consumer goods, the people here are already boycotting US goods and companies en masse. EVERYBODY is doing it - and the pace isn't going to recede anytime soon. Even after the Orange Turd is long gone, trust me, Canadians will remember this! The American state has proven it cannot be trusted. They have unilaterally broken the trade agreement (negotiated by the previous Donald J Chump administration) on the flimsiest of reasons, the 00.2 % of fentanyl that flows over the border into the US from Canada. That deal now obviously not worth the paper it was signed on.
First-person account of Quebec-based grassroots boycott response, critiquing US trade agreement violations and unilateral action.

What's it about? It's about money. It's about a gangster family in the Whitehouse, and oligarchs in the administration, all trying to make as much money as possible. There's no other explanation possible. That's the only explanation that comes close to making any sense. Now more than ever, even if these tariffs are short-lived, Canada needs to move away from U.S. trade. This is necessary for the long term survival and prosperity of Canada. We need to make every effort to increase trade with the pacific rim, Europe and South America. There may be some short-term pain, but it has to happen. Given the events of the last few years in the U.S., Canadians have to realize that things can get even worse, and will likely never be the same. There is very little reason to believe that the ties Canada has had with the U.S. will ever be what they were, or indeed any reason to believe that that is even desirable now.
Critiques US trade policy and tariffs, advocates for Canada to diversify trade away from the US, with comparative framing of US-Canada relations.
