these 'new canadians' refuse to assimilate and accept traditional canadian culture and values. anyone is free to practice their religion and practice and celebrate its cultural ancestry. canadians dont want anyone to forget or abandon its culture. my roots come from ukraine and poland. but im canadian. i work with many ukrainians that fled the war, they're labelled as 'displaced peoples (funny because theyre chritian and white), recieve no federal assistance some have even gone back to ukraine! meanwhile (conveniently 'non white' other religion) new canadians receive extensive federal assistance
