I worked since I was 14, (A lot of times evenings and weekends, several times, two jobs)! I am now 63, I got hurt at work! First I had to fight compensation for a year, ZERO $$$! Then I had to apply to get Disability Canada Pension because I can't physically work anymore.. (damaged back, head injury, I have to use a cane and knee braces to walk)! I spent my savings just surviving while being forced to fight for MY money from my own government for 5 years just to get a measly $300. a month! THAT'S IT! Luckily my spouse works , we paid off our house ten years ago! But, we still barely get by! Every person I speak to about my case with the government on the phone, can barely speak English and yell at me or are VERY impatient with me, because I can't understand THEM, they usually hang up! When I ask to please speak to someone IN Canada, they hang up, then I have to wait another hour to talk to someone else! (I went to 4 government funded agencies to see if I could possibly get a job working from home, because I have trouble getting out! All sent me somewhere else! One agency who is supposed to help disabled people in WPG, REES, the agent refused to talk to me or look me in the eye, * he got a supervisor to talk to me! Because he's Muslim and I'm Gay! They were continuously hostile/aggressive towards me without reason??? I volunteer at 2 different food banks , I've met TONS of people who have never worked a day in their lives, their family, parents, grandparents have never worked... EVER! Yet they have brand new trucks??? Still go to food banks? AND, several new Canadians who I've met, have never worked a day in Canada... Some with new cars??? Yet everyone else receives 10 times what I receive to live on??? I PAID TAXES ALL OF MY LIFE! We can't afford a car! Yet... I don't blame them! I would take it they offered! I blame our government (NDP, Libs, AND CONservatives) who don't give a crap about disabled and seniors in Canada! Or if you paid taxes all of your life , into a system that's supposed to help when you need it! ALL politicians in Canada just whore out their votes! I've volunteered for almost 40 years, also holding down jobs, helping others, I've never seen so may seniors and disabled people forced to access food banks and soup kitchens than the last few years! EVER! Disabled people have to constantly prove they are disabled enough to get kitchen scraps from sociopathic politicians who are over paid and under worked! Fees go up, taxes go up, housing goes up, property taxes go up, bus fairs go up, etc.. Services go WAY down! We can afford trillion$ in corporate welfare, but not help our own? Seniors can't afford to live in their homes anymore! YOU'RE WELCOME for paying for YOUR golden pensions pig politicians, and NOT helping us when we need it! POS!
Extended first-person account of disability benefits struggle and government service experiences, with implicit critique of hiring practices and service quality.

If I was there and seen them blocking roads or gathering like this, I would throw my jingle dress on and pray to god and jesus and then take my drum and start singing my first nations music 🎶 super loudly and get all my brother's and sister's to join. Enough is enough. I lost my job to corporate restructuring and running out of ei now, and I am beyond pissed off! All the years worked and contributing to my ei insurance, should equal how many months of ei i should actually be eligible for, but nope, its only for a certain amount of weeks according to their unemployment rate, which is severely flawed, because how can their unemployment rate remain unchanged for so many years, when you hear of thousands losing their jobs. We are being lied to and deceived, and I am sick and tired of it and me and some of my family members have even contemplated changing our names to an indian name, just to get a job!!! That's when you know it's a serious problem! Immigrants need to go back to their own country! Our families are suffering, especially our youth and children! And I am so worried for my daughter's and granddaughter's. Their belief system isn't kind to us females.
Combines lived experience of job loss and EI struggles with identity-based concerns about immigrants and demographic anxiety, framed through personal hardship.

We the Canadian were known to be polite and and helped each other begins an immigrant myself i feel stuck in the middle of this because we were respected in the 70's 80's 90' 20s even 2010 every thing was great but the last 10_ 15 years things have gone down the drain.

I'm waiting 16-18 months for spine MRIs that I'm supposed to have every 6-12months due to severe degeneration of my discs. It's ridiculous. I can't work, social assistance rates are so low that I have to cram myself and my kids into a 2-bedroom and even then it's over my max ODSP , actually closer to my full Child tax. Then I gotta pay food/utilities/travel/clothing/

I am also an immigrant, I came here from Guyana (I am Indian) in 1986 when I was 13 years old, so I grew up here and me and my family adapted to the Canadian culture and love it. I've called this country my home for the last 40yrs and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We live by the rules and laws of this Country as all other immigrant SHOULD. I hated it just as much when new immigrants come and try to impose their culture and way of life on us then complain when they meet resistance. It's simple, if you are planning to go live in a foreign country and you don't like or think you can handle the culture, then you shouldn't move there.
Long-term immigrant shares lived experience of successful integration while arguing immigrants have moral obligation to adopt host culture and follow rules.

The damage is done. Liberals ruined this country and let us down. They are just importing their voters. In 10 years they’ve been in power they created tones of new citizens to vote for them. I’m a first generation immigrant. The selection process for us was extremely hard. We were well educated professionals with university degrees, healthy (checked), had to provide funds allowing us to live for at least 6 months without any support from welfare organizations, no OHIP for 3 months. Why has this system been changed? How do all these people without education, money or skills coming here? Why our country is flooded with illegal immigrants? I love Canada dearly. It’s my home now. I’m a proud Canadian. And I’m very sed to watch my country decline like that. Shame on you Liberals.
First-generation immigrant contrasts their rigorous selection process with unsubstantiated claims about current lax standards and political vote-buying motives.

HA!!! I STARTED A JOB IN WHITE ROCK BC. DOING GROCERY DELIVERY FOR THRIFTY FOODS, THE FIRST DAY ON THE JOB I HURT MY BACK ON THE L4-L5 VERTEBRAE, THE PAIN WAS SO HORRIBLE THAT IT RENDERED ME UNABLE TO WALK, I TRIED TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AT THE JIMMY PATTISON PAIN CLINIC AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO WAIT 8 MONTHS, MY PAIN WAS SO HORRIBLE, I COULDN'T EVEN WALK TO THE BATHROOM WITHOUT SCREAMING FROM THE PAIN... THE MEDICAL SYSTEM IN BC IS SO F'N BROKEN ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY!!! SO MANY OF OUR DOCTORS AND NURSES HAVE MOVED TO THE STATES BECAUSE OUR GOVERNMENT IS TOO F'N CHEAP TO PAY FOR GOOD QUALITY CANADIAN CARE WHAT THE HELL IS THIS COUNTRY COMING TO???? WE NEED TO GET RID OF THIS MONEY DRAINING WOKE LIBERAL GOVERNMENT!!! THEY'VE RUINED CANADA SO MUCH WITH HOW THEY OVER POPULATED OUR GREAT COUNTRY WITH IMMIGRANTS WHO DO NOT WANT TO ADAPT TO OUR CANADIAN CULTURE, INSTEAD THEY COME HERE AND EXPECT US CANADIANS TO ADAPT TO THEIR WAY OF LIFE!!! THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS!!! THOSE IMMIGRANTS WHO DO NOT WANT TO ADAPT TO THE CANADIAN WAY OF LIFE ALL NEED TO EITHER PRACTICE YOUR WAY OF LIFE IN YOUR OWN HOME OR GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY WHERE YOU CAME FROM... IF I WERE TO VISIT YOUR COUNTRY, I'D HAVE NOTHING BUT MY UTMOST RESPECT FOR YOUR WAYS AND YOUR CULTURE... DON'T COME TO MY COUNTRY AND TRY TO CONVERT ME TO YOUR MUSLIM WAY OF LIFE... I AM A CANADIAN AND I AM A FIRST NATIONS NATIVE AMERICAN... I SAY AMERICAN BECAUSE WHEN YOU LOOK AT A MAP, CANADA IS A PART OF THE NORTH AMERICAN CONTINENT AND MY DESCENDANTS WERE HERE FIRST... BE RESPECTFUL WHEREVER YOU ARE. ❤
Primarily a first-person account of a back injury and healthcare system experience, combined with criticism of government policy and assertions about Canadian cultural identity and immigrant adaptation.

As a brown guy who is born and raised here, not every brown person is Indian. There are Guyanese, Trinidadians, Sri Lankans, Bengali, Nepali etc people that are in no way related, linguistically, culturally or religiously to people from Punjab that have been here decades and respect the land, the culture and learn English. The majority of the mass migration as of late has come from one state in India. Many are good people, but many try to make Canada the home they left. Too bad the rest of us south asians and west indians are painted with this broad brush.
First-person account from a South Asian Canadian distinguishing between diverse immigrant groups and critiquing broad stereotyping.

I came here 5 years ago and every year since then it's gotten worse. The government stewed the country. I was working for GFL as a drivermaking $29/hr and they fired me on the last day of my probation, then call me back a month after trying to pay me $21/hr now its mostly Asians working now. Only my heritage is Indian (4th generation in Australia - my great grandparents came here) so obviously I present as one. Of course every South Asian person I meet despises FOBs because they're literally the problem for all of this. Lack of assimilation, lack of civic sense, lack of fucking common sense. Of course this makes my blood boil. But what I'm genuinely tired of? The endless discrimination. I've lost count how many people profile me or treat me like garbage until we have a 20 second conversation, they hear my accent and I watch in real-time as their body language and frown disappears. It's like watching racism disappear like a light switch. So let me ask all of you a question - how should people like myself, born and raised here handle this? It doesn't end. Everyday, there's a new comment from a new person, another racial slur, another person throwing a bottle at me from their car as I'm walking, another passerby getting aggro at me for no reason, another form of insanity. How should regular people like myself handle this or deal with this? No trolling.
Extended first-person account of lived experience with discrimination and assimilation concerns, framed as a genuine question seeking advice.

It’s sad being a born Canadian and watching the land I love turn into an income battleground. Nobody wants to hire someone with the thought of training. They want people with experience but won’t give the experience to those who lived here and need it. They’d rather hire someone from somewhere else that has experience and then fails to follow through as the born and raised person given the opportunity would. The amount I’ve seen white people fight to work and work fighting to keep their job burning themselves out when they’re easily replaceable by someone for a fraction of the cost and needing 3 people in their place since most immigrants are extremely lazy, especially after getting the pr. I’ve watched so many eastern Indians start to work full time. Hardly do anything until they get their card then drop off the map of actual work being done only to move to Ontario. Meanwhile I apply to countless jobs and don’t get one call back in 2 years with experience. Don’t even get me started on housing..
Commenter shares lived experience of job-seeking difficulties while making unverified claims about immigrant work ethic and hiring practices, framed through personal economic struggle.
