Mexican and Canadian visitors entering on a B2 visitor visa and staying longer than 30 days or traveling beyond 25 miles must apply for an I-94. Biometrics and photo is taken. It's been this way for many years. Really nothing really new here. Just enforcing the law that has been in place since 1996. Known as the 96 Act of the INA. I am a retired INS Inspector and spent 17 years on the San Diego/Tijuana land border crossing. I put my entry stamp on thousands of I-94's.
First-person account from a retired INS inspector sharing professional experience with border procedures and historical context.

I’m a government worker in the city where I was born and raised. I’m also a mother, a wife, and a family-oriented person. Because of the sheer incompetence of this administration—and the people who blindly followed along—our future is more uncertain and jeopardized than ever before.\n\nI was planning to buy a car for our growing family. We had been saving for a house and making future plans, but now, all of that—especially spending—is on hold. The U.S. is a consumer-driven economy, so what do you think will happen when people like me stop spending due to uncertainty?\n\nThis is madness. We need to speak out, build mutual aid networks, and fight for a future that uplifts everyone—including our allies.
First-person account of personal economic hardship and uncertainty, combined with economic impact concerns and a call to organize and resist.

My sister was going to immigrate to Australia from South Africa with her family. They expected her to be able to take care of them for 5yrs, have a certain amount of money to do so. That wasn't a problem as she owned a medical supply company and was a registered nurse, trained in Canada, worked in Florida for 5yrs. The only metric she didn't meet was age, she was over 45, rejected 😢
Shares a first-person family immigration experience while comparing Canada's policies to Australia's stricter requirements, illustrating policy differences through lived experience.

As a Caribbean Indian, I hate how these Indians from India have twisted the perspective towards Indians across the world. They’re so problematic. And Im from Trinidad but everyone assumes I’m from India and I hate it. Just cuz i look like you doesn’t mean I’m from your homeland. And to the Canadians, just cuz I look like them doesn’t mean you can assume I’m from India. I have never been to India so stop assuming I’m from there. Imagine seeing an Asian person in markham and assuming they’re from China and speak Chinese when their family has been in Canada for generations.
First-person account of lived experience with identity misidentification, combining personal narrative with assertions about cultural identity and belonging.

I am a born and raised Canadian. I have 3 boys that are 30, 25, 21, my 30 yr old recently went blind and is dealing with that in another province. My other 2 live at home with me, because none of us can afford to live on our own as we rent, and they can't find work anywhere. The government needs to fix the problems they have before bringing in new people. If your own people can't survive, why the hell are you bringing in more people. Up goes the crime rate, up goes homelessness. The worst part is most homeless people are born and bred Canadians, while the immigrants get jobs and housing pretty much handed to them. I don't think the prime minister should have been able to make the decision to bring more and more immigrants here with out asking the people.
Primarily a first-person account of family hardship (blind son, unemployed children, housing insecurity) used to critique immigration policy and express concerns about crime and homelessness.

Integration into the host society is crucial for immigration to work in society. I’m Ukrainian, and integrated in Canada in 53. Being European made it easier of course.

I was born in Poland, raised in Canada, and despite living in Toronto, learned both official languages to utter fluency. Yet to communicate with others in Toronto, apparently Hindi and Punjabi are what is required for economic opportunity . That’s absurd…so I moved back to Europe because I like living in a place with a sense of identity, not just an economic unit for our corporate overlords (who are the real culprits of unskilled immigration.
First-person account of lived experience in Toronto combined with claims about national identity and belonging.
