The city distance thing is so true, in my “little” city, when I was 15 I met this dude who lived 5 miles of south of me, when I first started going to his area, it felt like a completely different city, Their was so many restaurants and places that I never heard of and The culture in the city actually felt different (even though it’s a suburban city) |

I was born and raised in the US and have always traveled only to grow up understanding that the US is trash. Yes, I love my guns but I believe that the gun safety is not where it should be. Public transportation and education is sad and severely lacking. I could write a book about the short comings of the US. I hope to get out of here. |

Totally true on the food thing. I’m not in a big city yet there are 9 full grocery stores and a Costco within 7km. Within 3km there’s a Costco and 5 grocery stores. 2 of those grocery stores are walking distance. |

Aba,you need to go back to school, America is one country, and it is divided by different states not countries. In every country if you move every 30 minutes, things are different. In uk from Manchester to Stockport, which is about 7 minutes away from each other, totally different world from each other. |

The cost of rent in LA should be compared to the cost of rent in Vancouver and Toronto. It's about the same.... Regardless of if you make 80k in USD or CAD, it's around 2600 a month in both countries so it will affect your wallet about the same on both sides. And in the US, you might even be able to make more money than in Canada in STEM fields, so the you might even end up with more in the US at the end. But it's heavily dependent on someone's situation. \n\nIt is however true that the US isn't as safe as Canada is. |

people forget that Canada population is only about 40mil while the USA is 340mil, so just by population alone the crime rate would be at least 5-10x lower than in the USA. \n\nif the USA had 40mil Ppl even if the % of crime stayed the same we would have 10x less deaths from crimes and 10x less crimes in general making the country feel way safer |

I know were all talking about the popular cities and popular states but from a state thats frequently overlooked Alaska is a different deal than 90% of the US. People leave thier cars running, doors unlocked, kids playing unsupervised, all without fear of something happening. Granted there has been an upswing in crime as the economy of the US has gotten worse but in the 30 years of being here my car has only been broken in to 1 time and nothing was damaged and only a couple things were missing |

Any urbanist would tell you Canada is just a sprawled and poor transportation as America . It’s just Canada has a population smaller than CALIFORNIA for the whole damn country. The big five cities have transit no better than say DC Metro at best. Definitely not NYC esque. It just looks better because it’s only 10 cities worth a damn in all of Canada to live in. But Montreal (2nd biggest Canada city) vs LA? Not even close. Toronto is like DC Or Chicago transit wise . It’s great - for North America . All North America outside NY, DC, T Dot , Montreal, Chicago, and the Bay Area and maybe Vancouver and Boston/Philly have awful transit. It’s a NORTH AMERICAN issue. Nova Scotia Transit is shit. Same with most of the other non Ontario, Quebec, and Alberta cites and of Course greater Vancouver- the rest of Canada is Colombus Ohio- who the fuck cares |
