1 year, 1 month ago @aikslf Canada is a sovereign country, not a US state. Fix your thumbnail. I expected better from an Australian. 3 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @Badkharma21 We have a ton of natural resources we can develop industries but the politicians just kick the can down the road 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @RH-vw5nd If Canada didn't have such a terrible government with no accountability. The country would be so much better 2 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @danielskate117 The real estate market of Canada did fail. It fail miserably after Trudeau's senior government in the 80s. \n\nCanadians are stupid people and are repeating the same mistakes with Trudeau jr. You are missing some important historical data. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @barryhunks873 It’s getting bad everywhere and it’s because… THE BILLIONAIRES ARE TAKING ALL THE MONEY AND ASSETS!!! 1 bG6-JX_iYQM

1 year, 1 month ago @jaystrickland4151 Did you go out of your way to say it has nothing to do with laziness because of my joke comment 2 years ago on the Canadian video ? 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @brasssnacks8413 A majority of Canadians are NOT home owners. That's a bad reading of the data. A majority of people LIVE in OWNER-OCCUPIED homes. That means if adult children are living with their parents, both the children and parents are counted as home owners. Or in my case, I own my home but my friend lives with me. She and I are both counted as owning homes when only I do. Most Canadians do not own homes. 3 bG6-JX_iYQM

1 year, 1 month ago @Daddytransit Because the USD is the world reserve currency, money flows into the US. And this unparalleled slush fund is then used to fund venture capital which, then, leads to more innovation in a virtuous circle. The Cdn$ is not a reserve currency, however. Uninformed or wilfully ignorant US politicians point to the US deficit as some kind of problem when, in reality, it represents how the US exports its problems onto the rest of the world that uses the US dollar as an exchange mechanism. If the US dollar loses its exchange value for other countries then the US will be faced with the same issues as other western countries--such as Canada. This isn't to exonerate the failures of both Liberal and Conservative Canadian governments over the past 20 years. More to say that productivity is lower in Canada than the US because Canada's currency isn't the international mechanism of exchange . . . 11 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @muddy-one Canada is going to lose its closest ally after they get kicked out of the 5 eyes due to being compromised by the CCP and triads. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @Passque666 Trudeau has been importing Indians in millions which is contributing to rent increase, housing unaffordability, wage stagnation, skyrocketing unemployment. Younger or high school students are finding it hard to find a part time job at local restaurants because all those jobs are occupied by Indians. I guess bring third world, become third world wasn’t so wrong after all. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @gincegeorge1047 I just heard cannadians are more united than ever because of trump and are more likely to vote the same liberal party that has been ruling the country for past 10yrs .I dont how much of it is true but canadians should vote for people that will take care of its citizens. 6 bG6-JX_iYQM

1 year, 1 month ago @dadamato_eh If Canada uses it's wisdom to choose a leader with an aptitude for economics, and behaves with the collectivistic humility we are known for, perhaps we will weather this storm and come out stronger on the other side. When making decisions from fear or anger, Canadians become individualistic and do our entire nation a major disservice by destroying any chance of using this crisis to propel our way out of the pit we are currently in. We need to avoid pointing fingers because for decades cowardly and self-serving decision-making have led us here. Never forget that the new immigrant delivering your food isn't your enemy - the con artist/felon trying to steal our resources and autonomy is. 8 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @awiseguydrinkingtea9735 Canadian here. The same Liberals that oversaw this mess for the past 9 years have now surged in the polls. They may actually have a chance at re-election...this country is full of idiots. 2 bG6-JX_iYQM

1 year, 1 month ago @bifflowman2948 Things are getting worse too. Canada doesn't develop its infrastructure or resources, and now the housing bubble is rapidly deflating 1 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @jasong.451 I got an ad for EE while watching a video from EE. That's a new one. 4 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @janissaryone1906 Canada needs to stop living beyond its means. Get rid of un-necessary ministries, involvements in private sector that isn't mandated. A Canadian DOGE would be good too, to look line by line to get rid of waste, abuse, corruption. Stop electing the Liberals which like the US Democrats just spend the public money to buy votes like a drunken sailor. 1 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @OldManGaribubee One big problem Canada has, is USA. Canada is better to be in if you aren't established, poor people do not suffer as badly as those in the usa who have no money. But if you are established, living in USA is better, you pay less taxes, and you make more money on average, and you have more access to a larger market, so what people do is use Canada to become established, then leave. And because USA is just a hop skip n jump, its easier than if you were to move over seas. 82 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @jessip8654 Yeah housing is a mess here. Even getting the most basic, cookie-cutter housing project off the ground can take several years and tens of thousands of dollars. Obviously some regulation is good, but when every step is expensively regulated to the hills and back, no one wants to build. 2 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @ColeEvyx I desperately want to move out of Canada. I've been born and raised here and I feel helpless. I AM EDUCATED. I DO WORK HARD. I HAVE A GOOD CAREER and yet I have no hope of ever owning a home. How is this acceptable? 23 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @johnnypaet These are issues not unique to Canada. Most people here in Canada don't realize this. Housing is a huge issue, and needs to be fixed. But business investment into Canada is increasing. We won't see improvement overnight, but we are marching in the right direction. \nThe tariff threat is the only looming thing that can really hold us back. With a constant threat of massive tariffs, business investment will decrease. 8 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @morganmccabe7739 Great video, but dude. Don’t call us the “presumptive 51st state”. That’s a hard no-go in Canada. ?? 63 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @theguywiththehat99 The reason real estate prices have gone 300% but incomes only 100% is because of low interest rates. If you factor in carrying costs, the numbers aren't as extreme. The challenge now is that interest rates have increased to stave off inflation generated primarily during the covid years. While this has somewhat abated, real estate carrying costs remain elevated and price growth has stagnated, while the Canadian dollar has fallen, effectively resulting in reduced housing valuations (in US dollar terms). Can we ride this out until incomes catch up? Will productivity increases promised by leading political challengers (election coming this year) move the needle? Are tariffs and 51st state rhetoric just a negotiating tactic and bluster, or something real? Nobody knows, but we will find out.. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM

1 year, 1 month ago @JosephKleingebbinck The only way I could do 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @cq1c06 High real estate prices have fueled hidden corruption by all levels of government. Until you try to build something you just can't imagine the fees and cost of regulation compliance. Since values keep rising there are more hands out demanding more by all levels of government. Another (sort of) related issue that has been ignored until recently has been Trudeau's reparations to First Nations. He has manipulated the courts and civil service to acquiesce to whatever is demanded. The province of BC just ceded sovereignty to an Island chain (Haida Gwaii) to an indigenous group that is against virtually any economic development. Northern Canada, as vast as is, is essentially blocked from new resource development. Every investment, including housing development, needs approval from, usually in the form of a payment to, an Indian Band. The level of corruption here is at South America levels.\n\nI think the unsaid part about excessive immigration levels the last few years was that was used to mask what the government was doing. 2 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @prinnybag It is pretty bad and the same Liberals that put us in this state might get re-elected. Most of my friend group have given up on owing their own home. 3 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @BTom16 Do not be mislead by this video. The prime minister has not resigned. He has only said he will resign when a new liberal leader is selected. 2 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @Sharma-xw6ml As a Canadian from one of the best educational programs in the country, that produces the countries smartest engineers, and CS grads. I can say most of my friends plan to leave Canada in the long term or after Graduation. 9 bG6-JX_iYQM

1 year, 1 month ago @xsvforce3335 GDP is mostly a useless metric to compare any economies and it was made that way intentionally. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @InderjitSingh12 American GDP per capita is lopsided by tech giants that bring money from all over the world but employ small numbers compared to other industries. Take that out its just Russia. If the USA doctors charged 200k for surgey, the gdp went up 200k but the patient is now bankrupt. \n\nCanada messed up with immigration and handing out study permits. There was never a need for low skills foreign workers and diplomas that taught zero skills to international students. The root cause the crony capitalism that drives down wages and workers quality of life. Nothing will change until workers get back power they had in 50s and 60s. 1 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @lance6163 Not only is Canada bringing in mass amount of unskilled immigrants, but they are are subsidizing their wages, driving down wages even further as Canadians entering the work force can't compete for jobs when companies can pay well below minimum wage for foreign workers who will be topped up by the government. Our own taxes are being used to make our own citizens more poor. 49 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @ndalby5178 CANADA MUST develop those more REMOTE areas of the nation. Its population is essentially present in an area that resembles the shape of Chile, leaving the majority of the nation extremely underdeveloped. These infrastructure issues are the kinds of things you hear about when discussing the DRC etc. Whatever one may say about the huge problems with Russia's infrastructure, AT LEAST they have developed those more remote areas and have settled population centers in some of the most difficult climatic environments on Earth 1 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @tylerrobdavis Tax sale of primary residence. Reinvest in infrastructure. Only way out and a big sell for any political party. It's gotta happen though. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @lance6163 Yup, Trudeau and the rest of the Liberals have really done a number on Canada. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @WhitneyRoss-dj4rf The housing market in Canada is out of control. Prices keep going up, and it feels impossible for first-time buyers to afford anything. 24 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @ehansaluja1413 Im going to be fully honest. Trump usually ends up saying something completely stupid and absurd at the time, but in the future there ends up being some truth to it. It's like he can see the future or something. So imagine if Canada gets so bad, that some Canadian provinces secede from Canada and join the US. ? 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @Nagria2112 why do econimists think infinite growth must be a thing in a finite country? economy stagnation is only a problem when you expect it to grow to infinity wich is obviously redicolous. \nf.e. shrinking/stagnating economies wont be able to keep up with Government bonds. you cant pay out interest charges if you didnt make more money then last year. what if everyone is working 40h with perfect efficiency? you brake the system. 0 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @blankspace0000 Brain drain is definitely a big issue. I heard from someone that if you're a US citizen you are required to pay US taxes even if you don't live there and honestly I kind of wish Canada would do the same. If this country raised you and educated you and gave you all the opportunities you've had in your life thus far, you shouldn't get to just up and leave without paying anything back. 1 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @Adyen11234 As someone living in Canada... I actually don't feel much of the things mentioned in the video. Sure, wages are not growing as fast as it can, but as someone who managed to purchase a home *before* the bubble started to expand, I'm living steady right now.\n\nWhat is REALLY causing a large part of the social and economic issues is actually the fact that provinces are NOT expanding new towns and cities in the millions of kilometers that needs to grow. Everyone is moving into cities, including refugees and new immigrants, which is driving up local prices and demand for everything. A few years ago, there were literally news of townships outside of the major cities offering houses and land for $50 per acre if people move to those towns and live there. \n\nCanada's biggest (heh) advantage is how much land it has. It's biggest weakness is how little comparative population it has. The worst problem is the concentration of population in like 6 keys cities throughout the entire country. If more people who complain about housing or social issues were willing to move outside of the major cities, they wouldn't have those problems. 12 bG6-JX_iYQM
1 year, 1 month ago @slavakl @EconomicsExplained How about a new video about Finland? The economy is entering depression, with unemployment close to 10% here 5 bG6-JX_iYQM
