I support immigration but there are issues and we need to be able to discuss it without assumptions or name calling. \n\nYes, housing, rentals, and houselessness are all issues as are lack of doctors. That said, we never discuss the million little things. There's more litter. It takes longer to order fast food. Our winters are lonelier as people hibernate. 4am phone calls home disrupt sleep and cause stress and tension. General language barriers. Cultural barriers, I personally love referencing movies. The prejudice migrants bring. Is our National IQ increasing or decreasing. These are legit issues and questions, I could name 1000 more. |

We need some amount of immigration. But most people are feeling the pinch in terms of cost of living and housing. So they've soured to the idea of more people right at a time when the government sharply increased the numbers of immigrants being admitted. Add a little right wing populism and you've got a recipe for pushback unfortunately. |

Why are we still not accepting the facts we have already learned from 1939? The same factors and the same constructs are driving these things. A lack of serious investment in wealthfare and public housing. Private and corporate interests are not going to solve this situation as they are making money hand over fist. Companies are not paying their fair taxes due to tax havens. Its greed and not imigrants that are the source. |

As a child of first generation immigrants and now lived here for 80% of my life and calling Canada my home, I empathize with how difficult coming to a new country is and the generosity of Canadians. I'm proof that the Canadian dream is possible; thanks to my teachers, social workers, friends, and community at large, I now make more money than both my parents combined, have a house and 2 dogs. While there's hard work at play, it's also the warmth of everyone that's made this a reality. I hope we can have a realistic and win-win plan of integrating immigrants, provide immigrants and residents the opportunity to work hard towards their dreams so we can ALL live a better life. |

We need to do immigration *responsibly*. The mass of international student visas combined with lack of regulation of colleges and universities regarding their housing, courses, and admissions is one place to start changing. |

Immigrants used to come here to become Canadians, now they only want to live in their own country within Canada, with massive concessions and financial support.\nClose door to SE Asia and the Middle East, we have disproportionate numbers here already.\nReficus on Eastern Europe and South American refugees. |

We know for a fact that a lot of immigrants, legal and illegal, either cram themselves 5 into a single room or end up homeless. Many small towns of 10,000 pop or less who never saw homeless people are seeing tents popping up, rising drug use, theft, etc. |

The issue in Canada is not about a well-planned and diverse immigration policy, but rather a significant influx of people from just a few countries, which some perceive as a cultural shift. The long-term impact of this trend on society remains to be seen. |

An immigrant student told me she was lured by the ads in India to move to Canada, they promised housing, and a job. When she got to Canada she had to room with 4 people in a 1 bedroom apt, worked the graveyard shift at Tims and couldnt get in to the classes she needed at school, she returned to India bc she said her quality of life was actually better there. Why would Canada bring immigrants to the country with lies like this? |

Completely insane that the government wants to reach 100 million people ASAP through brute immigration.\nThey don't care about integration, or national security, they only see these migrants as economic assets they can put to work.\nAnd then they're surprised when people bring up the great replacement, like yeah I don't like racists, but that's literally your policy Trudeau (and Pollievre too).\nThey need an actual open dialogue on immigration before the country ends up like England where every party's in lockstep and anyone with anti-migration is forced into the far-right fringes. |

I'm sorry to say but a immigrant cannot steal your job. A immigrant cannot take your apartment. You and your shortcomings cannot be blamed on everybody else. And that's what humans do you blame the government when the government don't fix it. We look for someone else to blame. I believe that lowering immigration requirements has contributed to this issue. For a long time, our steady immigration was based on merit, including language skills, education, previous work experience, and age. This approach was effective, leaving low-skill jobs in retail and the service industry primarily for students and newcomers, such as refugees. |
