Immigration is a federal responsibility, not provincial and Canada should remain a welcoming country to all immigrants imo, but, if you're here on a work or student visa, newcomers should have to prove employment, training, full-time enrollment, and residency on a quarterly basis. It would drastically limit people becoming ghosts in the system. Refugees and asylum seekers should be allowed 1 appeal only and removed immediately if their claim has been denied. A 90-day grace period should be enacted to get their paperwork and affairs in order. As a Canadian who lives in an area with high immigration levels, this is not the sentiment of the majority. I work alongside many people who were trained abroad from a variety of cultures and my experience has been great. Immigration has brought a lot of positives to Canada. As a Canadian, I work in healthcare in the disability sector, and I am extremely frustrated with what I am seeing the Indian population taking over the sector. There are ongoing issues with Indians who cannot communicate clearly in English with clients. This has resulted in serious confusion and, on several occasions, situations escalating into violence. Clear communication is essential in healthcare, and this failure puts vulnerable clients at risk. Clients are not being provided with proper meals that meet their dietary needs. Instead, food is often prepared without consideration for the client’s usual diet, which has caused clients to become physically ill. On top of that, basic food safety practices are not being followed at all. To make matters worse, the company does not provide proper foodsafe training, despite it being a legal requirement. There are also major professionalism issues. Some Indians arrive late to work—sometimes by hours—and give excuses with no consequences. I have documented these incidents and reported them to upper management, yet nothing is done. During shifts, 90 percent of Indian staff sit in the office for long periods, leaving clients unattended except for basic cooking. This can go on for days until white staff are scheduled. One incident that really stood out involved a client returning from a doctor’s appointment. When I asked how it went, I was told the client “had something on his head” and needed to use a cream. When I asked what the condition was or whether it was contagious, the Indian staff member did not know what the word contagious meant let me remind you I work in health care. I later learned from the client’s mother that it was a fungal infection information that should have been clearly communicated immediately for everyone’s safety. I am exhausted by the lack of standards, accountability, and training in this workplace. If you are going to work in healthcare in Canada, you must be able to communicate effectively, follow food safety laws, show up on time, and provide proper care. Lowering standards for the Indian population puts vulnerable people at risk, and management allowing this is unacceptable. If your coming to Canada follow are values and beliefs are stay in India.

I actually worked at Tim Hortons(I'm a white guy), and there were literally so many Indians that they'd order each other around in Hindi. They'd only speak English to me and the customers. I had a shift coordinator in fact who would reflexively give me orders in Hindi, and would get a little ticked off and repeat it in Hindi, and then when it clicked that I'm the only non-Hindi speaker there, he'd give 1 word orders like "Garbage" or "Sinks". The owner of the Tim Hortons also said that if I was a little slow or needed extra training, they wouldn't fire me because they don't like to keep rotating workers around, and instead would rather just retrain them. I was a tad bit slow(only because I was precise and not violating health and safety standards), and they fired me in like 10 seconds. Like my second monthly review, I was fired. I have a feeling it largely had to do with the fact that I was not Indian and didn't speak Hindi, so therefore the shift coordinators had less tolerance for me.

It all boils down to how the Indians are raised in their own country. They are raised with the individual mentality. Do for yourself, and to hell with the others. So, they trash their country and instead of cleaning it up, they move to another country to trash it. My brother used to be a truck driver for many years. Every time he saw a truck rolled over on it's side, he'd say "Must have been an Indian", because every rolled over truck he ever saw was driven by someone from India. If you look at videos of the traffic in India, you will see lot of trucks rolled over, and you'll see no one pay attention to stop lights, stop signs and everyone just cuts off everyone. Westerners have a hard time driving in India because we are all raised with everyone in mind, not just ourselves. We are a community, not an individual. I am from Edmonton and we have a high rate of people from India, the only thing that bothers me is if an immigrant comes here learn how to be Canadian. Which is helping the elderly, giving your seat up on a bus, not taking proper drivers training. They have been taking a lot of trucker jobs and there is barely one Tim Hortons in Canada that will hire a white person.

East Coast Canadian here. Thankfully the non existent provinces beyond eastern Quebec are thankful it's not as bad here. The majority of TimHorton's & Wendy's employees are flown into the Charlottetown airport, housed & trained on site & then spreadout across the country from there. The Government is paying the majority of their minimum wage and business owners pay pennies for them! They will also work more hours than others. Our own people are being ignored when they apply for jobs so that its not considered discrimination. They can easily claim the immigrants applied first.

I have a large office building on the Gold Coast Australia. Recently we have been culturally enriched and now there are about 1/2 a dozen 'businesses' near me that offer 'training' in aged/disability services exclusively for immigrants. How lovely. I ve been in Quebec since 22 years now myself ; I am a Canadian citizen since 15 years now of course ; But it’s confusing… Why was Quebec still receiving more immigrants in such program when even thousands of locals were and are struggling to find jobs? For the last 6 years I made a career in Private security ; I became an officer Liutenant at least I tried ; but now a days I don’t even have a job in security anymore ; too many immigrants applying for the same job / and frankly they do not care if the remuneration is only 21$ an hour / so officers can’t afford to work for less than 27$ ; because they have 6 years experience and more : it’s logical / however , comes an Arabic guy ; who quit the job he came here to do under the program , now he is looking for his first job out here in the real market ( does 80 hours training to get a BSP ) the guy had a college degree or university on something else ; and magically he becomes an officer with no experience for $24 dollars an hour And any security company accepts him 🤷‍♂️ Conclusion : true experienced security professionals officers who built their careers from the bottom all the way up Don’t have a job anymore Remember , officers aren’t unionized 🤷‍♂️

Canada needs to step back and reassess the plan for immigration and refugees. Housing, jobs, healthcare, education, cost of living, and in general all resources are already strained. We need to prioritize the application for citizenship of trained and educated workers that are needed and will benefit our economy.

I was the lawyer invited to this interview, and after reading some comments celebrating the end of the PEQ, I feel the need to clarify a few things. The people affected by this are not “abusing the system.” this was the program for people that came here legally and are working. To qualify for the PEQ, they had to be working full time, they pay taxes, they speak the language. They’re fixing our roads, keeping hospitals running, welding, machining, doing the jobs most of us take for granted every single day. The hard truth is that Canadians have stopped having enough children, and we simply don’t have enough young people with the skills to fill these roles. Yes, we absolutely should invest more in education and trade programs for our youth — my employer clients are begging young people to become mechanics, welders, skilled workers, often in the regions. Most don’t take those jobs, and even when they do, training takes two to three years. Our industries need people now, or parts of the economy will stall, and that affects all of us as Quebecers and Canadians. These workers are not asking for charity. They are already on the front lines keeping key sectors alive. Ending programs like the PEQ doesn’t punish “illegals” or “free riders”; it punishes people who are already integrated, working, and contributing to the society we all share. Also, all they are asking is for the new rules to not be applied to them retroactively, only for those coming new into the country, otherwise it is rug pulling those already here that played by the rules, and when the government does it to us we don't like, on principle of fairness, whatever you think of the numbers, too high too low, doesn't matters, it is the least we can all get behind as humans.
