As a person living in India, my appeal to the Canadian people is don't let "asylum seekers" from India into your country without proper vetting. Legal migration of skilled labour is one thing you shouldn't be looking out for. They're already westernized. What you need to look out for are those that immigrated illegally. Please deport them, honestly. A lot of these self declared asylum seekers are people who've commited serious crimes here in India and running from the Law.

The point of no return is coming, self deport or bite the dust.

This must be Trump's brilliant plan to get everyone to self-deport to a country that has political leaders that actually care about their citizens... Trump will later want credit for bankrupting America.. the biggest bankruptcy in history...never one bigger... My issue is the invasion will never completely stop. They will try anything to get back in here. There are so many millions of people who want to come here and they will never stop trying. Deport and they just come back later. Dangerous criminals will always find money to facilitate getting back here. \nWe may need to take a large area of an unpopulated western state and turn it into a prison (and nice neighborhoods for all the employees needed to run everything) for anyone who enters illegally. If they are caught here illegally, they will spend the rest of their lives in that prison.\nMany would self-deport and never try to return.

They should tell the illegals who don't self deport will be thrown into Guantanamo Bay prison. They should cancel every benefit they get for starters.

I like Firstpost because she usually says it like it is. But this time she’s way too biased and went straight to play victim. Doesn’t she know how in places like Australia and Canada thousands of Indian people on temporary visas have taken to the streets to protest that these countries want to “deport” them when their visas are expired and they decided to overstay their welcome? Also, Indians used to be pretty quiet and kept to themselves… At least where I live! But lately they’re more and more unruly, and act like they own the place. A good dose of self-awareness wouldn’t hurt her.

Give me a break. They are criminals. They entered illegally. Even in the US a thief transported would be put in cuffs. If very serious crime cuffs, chains ankle and belly etc.. They are in chains so that can't run away and put all the staff at risk. Even pregnant women. Worked in a women's prison and some of the pregnant women were some of the most dangerous.They like to use their pregnancy to get out of all sorts of stuff. ie can't be on top bunk and only less 26 weeks prego. As an American citizen that has lost job opportunities because these immigrants are here ILLEGALLY -- I'm ok with this. People are perfectly able to self deport and file the proper applications to come here legally. If not, they will never be allowed back if ICE gets them first, then they will be on the federal criminal list for sneaking in without authorization.

These are just the numbers that they have to report. It's really much higher. There are other ways to deport. For example a friend who was on a legal visa (but continually did visa runs) was ordered by a customs officer to buy a ticket home now or face a 5 year visa ban. He bought a ticket home and self deported.

The crack down should be on companies that employ illegals. Illegals will self deport if they can’t find employment. Then the government would not have to spend billions deporting anyone, plus the government can fine those companies that break the law by hiring illegals.

There's no way he can deport all illegals. Where would he deport them to? More realistically, he could remove their welfare so they would be encouraged to leave on their own. The ones that are self sufficient, he could register and make sure they don't illegally vote. Maybe provide a path to permanent residency.

Well made. Wish I had this info atleast a decade ago. I’m one of the Sanjay. Immigrated to US in 2008 from India. In the green card queue for 10 years. Not sure if I get it in my lifetime. I have a foreign born daughter who I brought here when she was only few months old. She might have to self deport in a few years when she is 21. This is her home and only country she knew.\n\nThe US immigration system is cruel for people like Sanjay.
