As a Canada who speaks both French and English and who follows politics quite closely, I have to say that the headline and some of the reporting here is quite misleading.
A reduction in immigration has broad support across Canada. I wouldn't say that notion is dividing the country in any significant way.
You do have certain industry groups that disagree, but among the population these reductions have broad support.
This is a historic change in public opinion in Canada, but it has been driven by the unprecedented increase in immigration under the last term of the Trudeau government. To put this in context, non-permanent residents in Canada numbered around 1.5 million on Q3 2023, but by Q3 2025, that number sat a just over 3 million. The previous government increased immigration targets by 3 or 4 times over what they had been for years, which caused a number of economic issues. Essentially, the volume was simply too high for the economy and society to support. This was unfair to both Canadians and new comers, many of which could not find employment or afford a decent place to live.
The changes being suggested are largely bringing Canada back to what the targets were for over a decade before, though a bit lower to account for the sudden surge. Canada remains one of the most pro-immigration countries in the world.
However, and this is where I think DW's reporting is misleading, there is a distinction to be made between policies at the federal level and policies at the provincial level.
Immigration, per our constitution, is a federal matter, however, Quebec in particular is distinct from other provinces. I don't mean only culturally and linguistically, but also in the powers that have been devolved to it by the federal government.
On the question of immigration, Quebec has more powers and more ability to set its immigration targets and programs than any of the other 9 provinces.
The particular program discussed here, the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ), is a particular immigration stream that only existed in Quebec. So what is happening with that program cannot be labeled as a whole-of-Canada thing.
Where the changes to the PEQ are controversial, unlike the general changes at the federal level, is that people who immigrated under that specific program were promised certain things. There was a multi-year time line to Permanent Residency and then Citizenship. Many of those people have been in Quebec for 5-8 years already. However, the changes made to the program were done in such a way where people who many years into the program, had gotten an education, started a career, had children, ect. are now being told they can't continue and must leave Canada.
There are even stories of people who married Canadians, now have children, and the one parent who was under this program now faces the possibility of having to leave Canada and be separated from their family. All through no fault of their own.
That is what many people see as unfair, and I agree, however limiting future applications under the program, to bring in less people, that is not controversial.
Canada has no responsibility to bring in people who are not already in Canada, but Canada does have some responsibility towards people who uprooted their lives to move to Canada and built new lives here based on promises and representations made to them by the Canadian and Quebecois governments. We should no simply kick those people out of the country.

Sad to see how unintelligent majority off humanity really are so superstitious and do not follow the evidence..
How can you worship sticks and stones and other earthly materials that which you carve with your own hands.. Why do they worship that which does not benefit them neither can do any harm to their enemies.
You leave the one and only real God Allah who created everything in the heavens and earth and worship that which depends on your own hands or tounge(superstitious stories).
Please wake up and stop worshipping idols stop following blindly like blind sheep your forefathers and ancestors. They were not educated neither they were guided.. this generation is more educated and have more access to real knowledge will You Still Believe milk is green just because your ancestors used to believe that
reminds me of the following verses of the Holy Quran
When it is said to them: \\Follow what Allah has sent down.\\" They say: \\"Nay! We shall follow what we found our fathers following.\\" (Would they do that!) Even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided? (Al-Baqarah 2:170)"
And the example of those who disbelieve, is as that of him who shouts to the (flock of sheep) that hears nothing but calls and cries. (They are) deaf, dumb and blind. So they do not understand. (Al-Baqarah 2:171)
And another place in Quran (sura ambia (prophets) /)
Ibrahim (Abraham) asked the idol worshippers....
52. When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?"
53. They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them."
54. He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error."
55. They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?"
56. He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses.
57. "And by Allah, I shall plot a plan (to destroy) your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs."
58. So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it.
59. They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers."
60. They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)."
61. They said: "Then bring him before the eyes of the people, that they may testify."
62. They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?"
63. [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!"
64. So they turned to themselves and said: "Verily, you are the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers)."
65. Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!"
66. [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you?
67. "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?"
I pray to the true one and only God Allah guides us all. Ameen
Love and Peace...
Just to let the unintelligent Haters know , I do not come back to my comments I just write and move on and wish the BEST🌹

🌙 1. **Ras Leela with married women**
Bhagavata Purana 10.33.27
Krishna danced with married Gopis in the forest at night.
Even though they left their husbands, the scripture says:
Whatever Krishna does is pure, even if He plays with others’ wives.
🛑 Normalizes adultery under divine excuse.
🩲 2. **Stealing clothes and watching girls naked**
Bhagavata Purana 10.22.1 to 10.22.28
Krishna hides the clothes of young bathing girls, climbs a tree, and watches them come out of the river **naked with hands raised**.
He says it’s a test of their devotion.
😳 Highly inappropriate by any ethical standard.
💍 3. **Sex with 16,000 women**
Bhagavata Purana 10.59.42
After killing Narakasura, Krishna takes 16,000 captive women as wives.
He is said to live with them all by creating multiple forms of himself.
⚠️ Glorifies mass polygamy and male domination.
🧈 4. **Stealing butter and lying about it**
Bhagavata Purana 10.8 to 10.11
Krishna frequently steals butter from villagers and breaks their pots.
Even when caught, he lies and charms his way out.
😂 Presented as playful, but glorifies theft and dishonesty.
🔪 5. **Killing Ekalavya, a tribal archer**
Mahabharata, Adi Parva and Bhagavata Purana 10.52.31
Ekalavya, a low-caste boy, learns archery on his own.
Drona cuts off his thumb. Later Krishna kills him, calling him unrighteous.
🚫 Reinforces caste violence against talented lower-caste individuals.
📿 6. **Supports caste system in Gita**
Bhagavad Gita 4.13
Krishna says: I created the four varnas (castes) based on qualities and actions.
Although interpreted philosophically, this verse was used for centuries to enforce caste discrimination.
📛 Justifies systemic social inequality.
🗣️ 7. **Killing Shishupala for verbal insults**
Mahabharata, Sabha Parva
During a royal ceremony, Shishupala mocks Krishna.
Krishna responds by using his chakra to **behead him publicly**.
🧠 Kills someone for speech — raises moral concerns.

Unethical, Weird ❌🚩🚩🚩🚩👺🚩🚩❤🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 Acts of Rama in Ramayana
These are all from mainstream Valmiki Ramayana or well-known regional versions.
1. 💔 Banishing Sita While Pregnant — Based on Gossip
Rama sends Sita to the forest alone while she is pregnant, based on a washerman’s comment about her “purity.”
🕉️ Uttara Kanda, Valmiki Ramayana
“A ruler must be free from blame. I banish you to uphold my people’s trust.”
Comment: Seriously? Gossip over your wife? This is not ideal leadership or love — it’s cruel and cowardly.
2. ⚔️ Killing Shambuka the Shudra for Doing Tapas
Rama beheads a Shudra ascetic just because he was doing penance in the forest, which “violated dharma.”
🕉️ Uttara Kanda, Ramayana
“By performing penance, the Shudra threatens the cosmic order. He must die.”
Comment: Casteist horror. What kind of god kills someone for meditating?
3. 🐒 Making Monkeys Fight His War
Instead of asking help from humans, Rama uses an army of monkeys (Vanaras) — like Hanuman, Sugreeva, etc.
🔹 Comment: Literal monkey business. Why use animals for war instead of diplomacy?
Slaying Vali Unfairly from Behind a Tree
Rama hides and shoots Vali from behind while he's fighting someone else (Sugreeva).
🕉️ Kishkindha Kanda
“A king can kill from hiding when dharma is at stake.”
🔹 Comment: That’s just sneaky and cowardly, not heroic.
🔥 Asking Sita to Do Agni Pariksha (Fire Test)
After rescuing her from Ravana, Rama demands she walk through fire to prove her purity.
🕉️ Yuddha Kanda, Valmiki Ramayana
“I rescued you for honor, not for love. Prove your chastity.”
🔹 Comment: Toxic masculinity. Instead of comforting her, he humiliates her.
Never Defending Sita Against Critics
He allows society to question Sita again and again, never confronting the toxic moral policing.
🔹 Comment: Doesn’t defend his wife. Silent when he should speak.
7. 🪦 Abandoning His Children in Forest
His twin sons, Lava and Kusha, are born and raised without knowing who their father is.
🔹 Comment: A father who abandons family, then fights his own sons without knowing.
Blind Obedience to Dharma, No Compassion
Rama is shown as a king who follows “Rajdharma” even when it destroys his personal life.
🔹 Comment: Robot-like morality — no real humanity or emotion.
❓🤔 So… Why the “Jai Shri Ram” Hype?
Originally a devotional phrase, “Jai Shri Ram” has now become:
🚩 1. Political Slogan (Not JustReligious)
Widely used by Hindutva groups (like RSS, Bajrang Dal, etc.)
Chanted during hate crimes, riots, and lynchings
Used to assert Hindu supremacy, not peace or devotion
Brainwashed Symbolism
Kids in schools, people on streets forced to chant it
Becomes reflex rather than real devotion
🔊 3. Used in Intimidation
Many victims of hate attacks in India were forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” before being beaten or killed.
🔹 Example: Tabrez (Jharkhand), 2019
🔹 Example: Delhi Riots, 2020
Fake Masculinity & Heroism
Rama is projected as “Hindu warrior king” — even though real Ramayana presents him as soft, conflicted, and Fake Masculinity & Heroism
Rama is projected as “Hindu warrior king” — even though real Ramayana presents him as soft, conflicted, and emotional
The aggressive macho image is fake propaganda

I must say even though he's had his flaws while in government, this speech was great! Right to the point, talking to Americans, the Donald and Canadian's. Stating the facts, what they have done as asked, and how Donald is trying to ruin the country with an illegal attack of unjustified tariffs.

Beware of all religions. “Beware of false prophets, men who come to you dressed up as sheep while underneath they are savage wolves.” –(The Prophet and Messiah Jesus of Nazareth at Matthew 7: 15)–
\nFor God is our true Father. So never worship and pray in the way of the many false prophets of all religions.
\n“But when you pray, go into a room by yourself, and shut the door. Pray to your Father who is there in the secret place; and your Father who sees what is secret will reward you openly.
\nIn your prayers do not go babbling on like the heathen, who imagine that the more they say the more likely they are to be heard. Do not imitate them. Your Father knows what your needs are before you ask him.
\nThis is how you should pray:
\nOur Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
\nYour kingdom come; your will be done, on earth as in heaven,
\nGive us today our daily bread,
\nForgive us the wrong we have done, as we have forgiven those who have wronged us.
\nAnd do not bring us to the test, but save us from the evil one.
\nFor yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, for ever.
\nAmen.
\nFor if you forgive others the wrongs they have done, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, then the wrongs you have done will not be forgiven by your Father.” – (The Prophet and Messiah Jesus of Nazareth at Matthew 6: 6-15) –
\n
\n“Pass no judgement, and you will not be judged. For as you judge others, so you will yourselves be judged, and whatever measure you deal out to others will be dealt back to you.” – (at Matthew 7: 1-2) –
\n
\n“In truth I tell you, if anyone obeys my teaching he shall never know what it is to die.” – (at John 8: 51) –
\n
\n“Always treat others as you would like them to treat you: that is the Law and the Prophets.
\nEnter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” – (Matthew 7: 12-14) –
\n
\n“I am the gate; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe. He shall go in and out and shall find pasturage.
\nThe thief comes only to steal, to kill, to destroy; I have come that men may have life, and may have it in all its fullness.” – (John 10: 9-10) –
\n
\n“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” – (Matthew 7: 21) –
\n“I am the resurrection and I am life. If a man has faith in me, even though he dies, he shall come to life; and any one who is alive and has faith shall never die.” – (John 11: 25-26) –
\n
\n“I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world” – (John 12: 47) –
\n“Whoever then will acknowledge me before men, I will acknowledge him before my Father in heaven; and whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.” – (Matthew 10: 32-34) –
\n
\n“I am the way; I am the truth and I am life; no one comes to the Father except by me. If you knew me you would know my Father too.” – (John 14: 6-7) –
\n
\n“An expert in the law, [a leading religious Pharisee] tested him with this question: ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ He answered, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind. That is the greatest commandment. It comes first. The second is like it: Love your neighbour as yourself. Everything in the Law and the Prophets hangs on these two commandments.’” – (Matthew 22: 35-40) –
\n
\n“There is no greater love than this, that a man should lay down his life for his friends.” – (John 15: 13) –
\n
\n“Do not call any man on earth ‘father’ ; for you have one Father and he is in heaven. Nor must you be called ‘teacher’ ; you have one Teacher, the Messiah.’” – (Matthew 23: 9-10) –
\n
\n“Take care that no one misleads you: For many will come claiming my name…” – (Matthew 24: 4) –
\n“Many false prophets will arise, and will mislead many; and as lawlessness spreads, men’s love for one another will grow cold. But the man who holds out to the end will be saved. ” – (Matthew 24: 11-13) –
\n
\n“Teach them to observe all that I have commanded you. And be assured, I am with you always, to the end of time.” – (Matthew 28: 20) –
\n
\nYours, in true Spirit and in our one given prayer, 2gointruth, on Tuesday the 4th of March 2025: – (Please read Matthew 5: 14-16) – Where every minute (of both day and night) can be a new beginning for any one of us. Let it always be you. Pray to God often, as prescribed above, before it is too late.

Oh i wasn’t expecting quebec to be thee no1 on this list but it’s nice to see it there im from greater Montreal\nIm not the bragging type but it feels nice to see it there especially that most people don’t fully appreciate the luck we have\nIt’s also funny to see that most people from outside say Montreal is amazing and people from around the city love to hate it for some reasons\nI must say that recent years have been hard cos of the consequences of the pandemic among other things which made the access to healthcare much harder than just a few years ago and also the prices of houses and rents have exploded since 2020 and the crime rate have raised in Montreal but not as much as cities cited in the video from the prairies \nI think its still a great place and safe place to live and we are lucky to be in that province and that country even though quebecois love to complain or as we say « chialer »

Been in Canada for approximately 25 years. I can say that the effect that Canada has on a legal immigrant is neither here nor there. If you can make lemonade out of any lemon you’re dealt, you will thrive in Canada (and anywhere else where your efforts are not overwhelmingly quashed by corruption, blatant racism or other forms of segregation).
\n
\nLynn, I was a lecturer in Kenya, went back to school here in Canada after wallowing in culture shock the first year, then circled back to teaching in college again after an arduous journey in school, but this time in a different field.
\n
\nAfter becoming a single mother of four kids, I had to also hustle on the side to build a small business empire along my life’s ladder. Partnership with God, goal clarity, the get-up-and-go, and relentlessness truly work. It isn’t the size of the dog but the fight in the dog that does it, regardless of where you live.
\n
\nThe starting point for a new immigrant can be very low due to the weather, unpreparedness and culture shock, but if you know that the only way is up, and are self-motivated, those challenges are soon behind you as the tests become testimonies.
\n
\nBy comparison people have more human rights here regardless of their status. The wheels of justice grind slow but they do grind fine. Women and children have equal rights with men. Politicians are mostly there to serve not necessarily to exploit.
\n
\nOpportunities for self-development galore - including being trained to become employable and going to school at any age (sometimes for free while you are still at the bottom of the ladder). There are food banks so you never go hungry if it came to that. The disabled are better treated with dignity.
\n
\nThere are prolonged parental leaves for both moms and dads for up to 18 months. Commensurate with earnings, parents under certain thresholds are given Canada child tax benefits and other supplements for each child under 18 years of age.
\n
\nDepending on the number of kids and their ages, the money can add up handsomely. Not to mention that there’s no tuition to pay for primary and high school students. Tuition fees start at post-secondary level.
\n
\nTo see a doctor is free as it is paid for by taxes. It the meds that you and/or your insurance pays for. Some medical equipments may be paid for by either or both the individual/insurance and the government depending on eligibility.
\n
\nBy and large, there’s cleanliness of common spaces. There’s also safety and relative peace. At least wherever I have lived, I can’t tell you how many times I forgot to lock my door with impunity.
\n
\nThere’s a lot more stressful work here in my opinion, but like you said Lynn, systems work a lot more efficiently and effectively.
\n
\nThe elephant in the room is the extra hard work that those living abroad must put in to fulfil expectations back home. Also known as black tax, the overwhelming financial dependency of relatives on their diasporan loved ones places undue stress on many here, especially because there are no short cuts to getting money here.
\n
\nAnyway, Lynn, thanks for such a great topical issue you’ve shared. I have to stop here as I have written a lot. Hope this helps someone on this forum.
\n
\nAnd last but not least, you’ll be proud to hear that even though Canada has been good to me, my face may now be turning towards home to see how I can be of use to mama Africa. Super excited!

I live in Regina Saskatchewan. I visited Toronto recently and I have to say I don't like it at all. Even though, I have already saved up enough money while working in Saskatchewan to buy an apartment in Toronto without mortgage, I won't consider moving to Toronto at all. The traffic drive me crazy. There are so many vehicle on Hwy 401 and all other roads even at mid night, going to work will be more or as stressful as your work. I am surprised to find out most of my friend who has better or same qualification as me only get about less than 70% as I get paid. Life quality must be terrible compare live in a more afford city like Regina Saskatchewan.

One of the top issues is being black. Seen as black and identified as black when you leave a predominantly Black Country. \nWhen I watch the various Realestate shows of white people buying property abroad as second home or just packing up and moving. I always say it must be nice! Because the reality is they can see them self almost everywhere unless they choose to go into a remote area then that’s the only exception but even then as long they learn the language and respect the culture they are good they are liked welcomed and even seen as fascinating. Not saying they don’t have to struggle but the colour of their skin is the least! \nAmerica is great if your trying to be self made, be your own business owner, and other random ventures you want to dabble in. But to just go there and be a regular teacher, doctor, lawyer, engineer to the low and middle class you’ll end up with the same financial issues and struggles as a result. You gotta now cater to the rich and famous wealthy people but then it’s back to never being home and not enough time for family. \nThe reality is if we could make the money we make here in North America and Uk back home in in the Caribbean and specific countries in Africa it would be a dream come true and that goes for other communist countries too. You truly have to know what makes you happy. Make money but enjoy life it might mean living below your means even though you can can afford a bit better life style. People do it all the time back home (not because they want to I know) but for some reason when you move abroad a one bedroom for your single self is to small, the car under $24k isn’t good enough, you don’t want your kids to share a room so you need a bigger house and the list goes on and on. \nCanada is boring if your not in a major city with money to spend you know why? Because people forget the population of the entire country of Canada is only a 3rd, 4th, 10th of the population of certain countries that immigrants came from and in the case of the US population it’s 100x more than Canada. So of course there’s more opportunities there. \nAnd finally imagine if more countries didn’t need visas to travel? They really would just come to make money and go back home or live bicoastal. Even just the freedom of travel half of the immigrants would of settled elsewhere before the year was up or go back home.

I agree with everything you have said in this video. I've lived in Canada for over 10 years and must admit, i don't feel at home here at all. I feel Canada is overrated for no reason. House prices are insane, it's almost impossible to buy housing in any big city in Canada anymore. I agree with a lot ppl, the healthcare system here is poorly managed, with long waiting hours if you have an emergency (personal experience). As someone living in a big city in Ontario, it feels like everyone is just busy chasing money. Nobody has time for friends, chilling, etc...Sometimes i feel i have to book an appointment with my own friends if i want them to hang out with them. As an immigrant myself, i must say I hate the mass-immigrant policy that the government is pushing. The neighbourhood i live in, has changed face/demographics so many times... Every group sticks to their own and it feels you'll never be able to adapt as it keeps changing so fast... I also don't like how Canada is pushing their far left agenda down the throat of everyone, with being Politically Correct, promoting LGBQT to underage kids (i don't have any issue with what ppl do in their bedroom, i just have issue with the promotion of it), minority this & that (even though im considered a minority myself). If you come from a middle income country, you'd soon realise Canada ain't so much better than where you come from esp if you have education, healthcare and jobs available. I'm only waiting to win that lotto max now, so i can just return back home and live a quiet peaceful life.
