American here that has extensive relationships in Canada. We don’t want this tariff war but the tariffs being implemented first by the Trump administration on behalf of US were punitive for violating USMCA and tied directly to the border defects. This was made known in advance and you repeated empty promises. Take your medicine and get well fast. Instead of doing that, you are taking an action that will beget reciprocal tariffs. Implement $30B and Trump will add $30B….add another $125B later and Trump will add another $125B. Heads up….America wants good partners and looks forward to being past this as well. In the meantime, we are prepared to pay more (or live with less) as we get back up on our feet. We have a lot of internal healing and cannot carry any other countries right now. Not sure if that was ever a good thing for either of us. Time to heal our broken ways ….sorry if you got used to our last administration being feckless.

All Americans want is reciprocal tariffs..(preferably zero%)if we cut a tree down the government is up our ass

reciprocal, you charge us, we charge you, this sissy boy has failed Canada. and no, the American people wanted President Trump to put tariffs on you and Mexico for not stopping drugs and are helping China to kill Americans. so, this is your punishment...the world will no longer take advantage of the US any longer, 77 million Americans voted for President Trump take America back from the world stealing from Americans, President Trump has the highest approval rating supporting him.

If Canada didn't have tariffs on American goods, Trump wouldn't have placed any reciprocal tariffs on Canada. This is retaliatory If Canada really wanted to have this partnership that they speak about. Why not just remove tariffs on American goods? America's economy doesn't depend on Canada. But The same can't be said for Canada. Good luck biting the hand that feeds you.

Dear American allies ...If you want to be respected in India avoid this kind of behaviour....or else Indians are easily offended..& ready to reciprocate.

As an American, I would have felt sorry for our strict immigration policies. Then I lived abroad and realized it's far more generous than where these immigrants are coming from. Work visa are more strict in other countries, the path to citizenship is denied, and property ownership is precarious. The Golden Rule should apply, treat immigrants to your country the way you want to be treated. Otherwise, don't complain and be grateful for the opportunity. Our immigration polcies should not change until it is reciprocated.
