For the love of god please fix this. I am an Indian immigrant here since I was 5 and a citizen since I was 12 and my husband is white and we both see the hate rising. My car has been broken into atleast 20 times in 5 years and 3 months ago a older Indian man broke into our house and was wearing my sister's clothes sleeping in her bed. He went through all our stuff and even ate food out of the fridge. So violating and frustrating living in Brampton lately. The population comment by the Pakistani isn't 100% accurate. Sure immigration plays a big role, but undeniably the South Asians still care about having kids and forming a strong family. In my school, most students just want to enjoy life, have kids in the far future, and they don't really care about family ties like these cultures do. They'll be tight with their parents but barely know their cousins or uncles. They'll be in their late 30s finally looking to get married and have kids, which is just not realistic biologically. 45 is the average age for menopause, and you see symptoms of menopause happen before then. Not rare to see a woman get perimenopausal symptoms at age 40. Meanwhile these Asians get married "young" (normal age back in the day), and they plan their future around their family's growth. Can't really blame it on immigration when other nations like Japan and Korea don't see a huge immigrant population from South Asia and still show insanely low birth rates for the locals, because they follow the secular societal standard of having one kid so you can enjoy life. South Asians could be living in a shack and still have 5 kids. We make fun of that in the west, and now our population is on a nosedive.

I worked since I was 14, (A lot of times evenings and weekends, several times, two jobs)! I am now 63, I got hurt at work! First I had to fight compensation for a year, ZERO $$$! Then I had to apply to get Disability Canada Pension because I can't physically work anymore.. (damaged back, head injury, I have to use a cane and knee braces to walk)! Every person I speak to about my case with the government on the phone, can barely speak English and yell at me or are VERY impatient with me, because I can't understand THEM, they usually hang up! When I ask to please speak to someone IN Canada, they hang up, then I have to wait another hour to talk to someone else! (I went to 4 government funded agencies to see if I could possibly get a job working from home, because I have trouble getting out! All sent me somewhere else! One agency who is supposed to help disabled people in WPG, REES, the agent refused to talk to me or look me in the eye, * he got a supervisor to talk to me! Because he's Muslim and I'm Gay! They were continuously hostile/aggressive towards me without reason??? I volunteer at 2 different food banks , I've met TONS of people who have never worked a day in their lives, their family, parents, grandparents have never worked... EVER! Yet they have brand new trucks??? Still go to food banks? AND, several new Canadians who I've met, have never worked a day in Canada... Some with new cars??? I did make a lot more money in USA then, luckily, I was in my 20s and almost never seen a doctor in my 5 years in the USA. \nThank God I didn't get into any accident while there. \n\nIn general, I observed many people in the USA are not good neighbors. Simple observation, ex you drive and merge into a lane in a busy SF Bay Highway you need to fight hard to get into a lane. In BC, Canada, merging lanes is very orderly, each vehicle takes turn merging into a lane one entering from one lane and then another vehicle from another lane with respect and consideration. \nIn the USA, I think it is this brutal mentality translates into policy in health care and education, you are not responsible to help your community in any way and take while you can for yourself.

Yikes, for a Montrealer, those apartment rents are mind-boggling. I'm in a spacious 5 1/2 (5 plus bathroom w/ tub) in the West of Montreal Island, an easy 40 minutes public transit to downtown, and (grandfathered for 2 decades) we're paying CAD$760 – in 2024!

Today, it is 180$ for the same 2 bags. this is NOT a 10% increase... but almost the double in price!\n\nRent, in Quebec province, have gone from around 1,000$ to 2,400$ in less than 5 years, and each time a tennant leave his place, the landlord rise (against the law but nobody can do anything) the rent often by 25 to 40%!!! The Demand is so high, that he can refuse you for any reason (including racism, children, pet, smokers) he can think of.
