I'm from El Salvador and you have no idea how many immigrants live in the US and Canada without being able to get their legal status fixed even with money in their pockets. I have saved a bit and I want to leave, but countries are just not that welcoming.

If he regrets coming to Canada go back to the country he fled from I'm sure it's much better there or you can try the US again and get locked up and sent back anyway.

I'm an immigrant from El Salvador, I got in Canada with refugee status. I'm not rich or have a wealthy family. I have lived in both US and Canada, I have been in Canada for a long time now and would never go to the US. I also live in Edmonton and it is not even close to anything like they say it is. For them to say it's cold why would you stay. I say it's better than getting framed by corrupt cops.

I don't think Canada ever lied. Unlike the USA Canada does not play around. We welcome legal immigrants and bona fide refugees. Unfortunately there is a lot of greyness in what it means to be a bona fide refugee. Perhaps too many people think it means one thing. \n.\nMy heart goes out to all these foreigners wanting to make a life here in Canada - after all I am one of them. The ONLY difference between the guy in the video and me is that I was lucky to have an opportunity to get a degree'd education and was accepted into Canada.

Justin Trudeau has the nerve to talk down to the US about not letting in immigrants and refugees and then does the exact same thing. Canada also sees way less than 1% of the people trying to get into the US. Typical progressives.

He went to the US first, then out of fear of being deported by Trump he fled to Canada. 15 years in the US makes his refuge claim a little lame. Sorry!

I don’t think anybody of non colour or visible minority would ever understand how racism is prevalent. Which I do understand. In my opinion Canada is a much more accepting than many other western countries and systemic racism is less prevalent. As a Muslim man I feel pretty lucky but my mom has many stories of suspected race based descions by people in power whether be an officer, judge or store clerk. I am sure not all of them were, however definitely some were.

I think now you won't be accepted at all as a refugee from the US into Canada and vice versa. You have to apply in whichever of the countries you entered. I don't know if that was the law when this video was made.

Is this more of a US / Canada thing? How is it in Australia? I ask because I have never experienced this in the UK ( brown Asian for reference). I am wondering if it is more relaxed in the UK or If I am so lost in my own world that I don’t notice if the staff is following me. \n\nIn my experience, if you look lost, someone might casually ask you if you need help. Otherwise most retail staff seem to be busy with their own work and you have to interrupt their work to ask them something which always makes me feel a little bad.

This is quite a shame on Canada. While loving and blessing others, Canada should NEVER forget her own (Natives and Christians); neither should she forget her good foundations that has made her peaceful, wealthy, and stress free over the centuries. I have had to rescue a white co-worker one time, because she was ill treated by immigrants in the workplace, who thought she was not SMART enough and FAST enough for their purpose. This is a beautiful, gentile white lady, whose parents helped to build Canada. Shame on Canada. It is good to bless others, but at what cost? Selling out your good foundations?
