First of all, Canadians are paying a high price because of this government that has been ruining the country for the past 10 years. Besides that, many serious people have given everything in their lives to legalize their status in Canada, through studies and work over the past few years, and now they are having to experience total scarcity in this cold country, without being able to return to their home countries under reasonable conditions since they have already left everything behind. And the Canadian propaganda continues to be strong, attracting immigrants from various continents. ??‍♂️

We had not communicated in a long time BUT... I think you were surprized how much you enjoyed to exploration of Russia a few years ago but quality of life was very good then but even better now, but retaining the unmatched access to culture, very low cost of living much lower crime rate than Canada/US/Europe, and cost of living about 1/10th of Canada, great health and easy to get a residency and citizenship due to being from Ukraine originally. For your travels, it is a little more complicated due to US sanctions but from here in St Petersburg it is really easy to travel by bus to Estonia and fly anywhere in the world. Estonia is the cheapest cost of living in the Baltic. I have flown to California several times using that route and to London the flight is $50 euros. \nAlthough you explored a lot here there is so much more to see and experience.\nThere is no doubt the western countries that relied on cheap labor and resources from colonies are all in a downward spiral and the east is rising. All the BRICS countries have positive growth in quality life and economic growth and a total of 108 countries have either applied or expressed serious interest in joining the largest trade block in history while the US empire fades at an accellerating rate. I would not go back the the crime, homelessness, anger, poverty of the US but have family business to take care of every 4-5 years. The decline is not a temporary downturn, the banking collaps that is accelerating now and impossible to pay back debt, it is really sad to see how the US is turning out. When growing up in California we had everything , really the golden state but is a wreck now. The politics is corrupt and owned by the employers of lobbyists.\nIf you come here to St Petersburg I have extra room in the city center with a Metro across the street and walking distance to more culture beautiful parks and zero hassles or conflict on the streets The crime rate is so low I can't even remember anything significant in the last 10 years, walking anywhere in the city of 7 mil would be safe at 3am. Alina, if you were born in Sovet Uninion (dismantled in 1991), you are at least 33 years old at the moment. You said that you begun travelling 15 years ago, so you were at least 18. With that, I can guess that you likely haven't got a college degree in a profession in demand. If you've got a proper education at McGill or UoT, your income would be in sx digits. You would likely have bought a house somewhere (not in Toronto or Van, let's say in Montreal) before covid, paying 2% interest rate, got married and have kids and a husband making six digits. So, you would be totally fine in Canada even considering increased living costs. Juat my 2 cents

Good luck with finding a new place to live, at least for a while. I don't recommend coming to the US, because we're just as much in the dumps as what I've seen on Canada (better in some and worse in others), and until we get our act together, and that's totally on us, then you should try a different place.

Canada definitely has changed a lot in the last few years and not for the better so i totally understand the desire to find somewhere new and i look forward to hearing the places you considered and why you decided to not relocate there. :)

I'm feeling the same. This country is running by bad managers who cannot be fired no matter how horrible their performance is. My friend from China visited me in Toronto about two months ago and he said he had zero interest in immigrating to Canada now because the streets look so trashy which I can totally relate. I came back from Japan last year and it was a bit culture shock to see how dirty the streets are in Toronto compared to Tokyo (not even the cleanest in Japan). I have to constantly remind myself I'm lucky to have a comfortable bed and a not too bad salary but my monthly savings after all the expenses are actually decreasing from year to year even I get a pay raise every year (I track all my spendings and income every month). Now it's time to consider other options before it's too late.

Great Video! Your totally right things here have changed for the worst but like you said Canada is still one of the best places to be. I still think life in Saskatchewan isn’t bad yet as it is in other provinces. If your in a major city than it’s tough to survive. My wife is from the Philippines so maybe we’ll go there in the winter months.

I left Canada in 2021 and came back this week for the first time. I am in complete shock I honestly don’t know how people survive. I bought a TRAVEL SIZE conditioner, soap, eyebrow pencil and toothpaste and the total was $47 at shoppers ??. I went to a restaurant with a friend. we shared a meal and got two kid size meals for her kids and 2 glasses of wines . The total was almost $200. Since I’ve been abroad for a while I wanted to go to the doctors and utilize my work insurance. Impossible! Wait time is 3-4 weeks just for an initial meeting. It would be easier for me to pay out of pocket abroad than use the “free” services Canada ( and my job) offers. I have no children and work in tech and I’m grateful but even working in this field I wouldn’t be able to have a quality life living here. It’s so sad I was born and raised here but I see no future for myself in Canada.

Canada’s population surpassed 41 million in April, just 10 months after it hit 40 million in June 2023. Nothing of it is due to birthrates, it's only immigration that makes the country grow. There's real issues coming with this much immigration ( housing market, stagnant wages, assimiliation of newcomers).

Couple that with a low-interest rate policy post GFC and leave rates for that low for that long and you are going to witness an epic housing crisis. But not just that - these new immigrants become fodder of cheap labor that pushes out our very own Canadian citizens from these positions, with the more marginalized ones ending up on the streets. \n \nThere is a Motel 6 in my neighborhood that has been taken over by the Canadian government and converted to temporary housing for new immigrants. All paid for by Canadian taxpayers. Why isn't our own government using these funds to fix the housing crisis, or help it's own citizens with more affordable housing but instead they continue to exacerbate this problem by letting a huge wave of immigrants that overwhelms the Canadian infrastructure. More proof? Notice more locked up goods in your local stores? I don't really understand this graphic. How many immigrants from each country have come to Canada in total? But then how come some of the numbers go down in later years? It's not how many come each year because the numbers are too high. We did not get 967k British immigrants in 1967, nor 700k in 1987. Nor 300k Italians in 1999.

As an immigrant to Canada myself, I have to state the obvious, the problem isn't just about immigration as it is about the total lack of discernment. Unlike what this government seems to believe, not all cultures are the same. Canada can and should give preference to immigrants from other democratic countries. When you import the third world, you import its problems. It's commendable to try to save everybody, but your existing citizens have to come first. Canada can't save the third world by becoming a part of it...

The guy from India was 100% correct. I've traveled India and seen huge billboard ads to sell students a dream of moving to Canada. But it's totally unrealistic. The higher education in India these days is easily as high quality as education in Canada.

For people who complain about Canada and wanna move back think twice, thrice and n more number of times.\nLife is expensive here and it's cheap nowhere. Taxes are high but the benefits are worth it. Immigration policy in Canada is totally brainless. There is no plan, only an unwillingness to analyse the effects of bad policy.

This isn’t totally accurate, and comparing Canada to the US is like comparing apples to oranges, a more apt comparison would be Canada and Australia (similar government structure, similar population, similar economy) unlike the us that has 8x our population and is the richest country in the world lol. \n\nThat being said the problems with the Canadian economy are pretty straightforward imo, for housing it’s simple, the Canadian government has invested heavily into the real estate market with things like the Canada pension plan being largely invested into the CPP. There is also a huge amount of people who have banked their retirement on the value of their home, for the most part these are blue collar workers. These two things combined have created a huge problem for the government, it basically has to choose between fixing the worsening housing crisis and in the process wipe out the savings and retirement accounts of millions of Canadians or let the problem get worse and worse until something boils over. This problem is also being compounded by the increasing number of international students being misled into coming here, they are being promised world class education but are receiving bogus diplomas from what are essentially sham colleges (thanks Ford). \n\nWhen looking at the competition in the country it’s a more complicated problem than people like to admit, in order to not become a client state of the US we have to place stronger protections on our industries and media, this insures that Canadian money stays within the Canadian market but has the drawback of discouraging competition. Now if you ask me the solution to this is to nationalize large industries that are being controlled by large oligopolies who unnecessarily manipulate the price of goods like Bell, Rogers, Loblaws, air Canada, petrol Canada, etc. By taking control of these industries the government could have better control of the price of goods and should result in better prices for consumers in turn we’re leaving some of the pressure placed on us by the cost of living crisis. This worked wonders for alcohol which in Ontario brings in 1.5 billion in revenue for the government each year, imagine how much internet, electricity, phone service and produce could bring in.

Trudeau's main goal is with the Century Initiative Organization to increase Canada's population to 100 million by 2100. This is totally insane. Last few year they where doing the opposite, crossing from NY to Quebec. Migrants from the US would enter the canadian border on foot. It's a total shitshow. We need to set a north US&Canada task force to standardize our rules, then process&evaluate their case in a week then kick them out ASAP. Abusing the canadian or US visitor visa programs should be an immediate exclusion, all the US and Canada need to do is share who gets visitors visa in a common database.
