I’m a Toronto born proud Canadian. And I DON’T agree with the immigration system. It’s stupid. Outright. Yes my parents are immigrants and I’m LUCKY to have been born here but it’s just a matter of no space and jobs suitable for the unaffordable housing crisis. I migrated to Canada in 2000 and moved in to United States after 3 years. Employment discrimination had pushed me out big time. Its funny that all employers were asking Canadian experience during job interview for a just landed immigrant. That’s big bull shit of stupid canadian employer. Canadian here with many American friends.....\nWe have frequent conversations about the fear of school shootings and the parents being concerned for their kids safety. The fact that you and your friends don't discuss it may very well be cuz it's an uncomfortable subject. The ones I've spoken with sit with me on the phone year after year and cry about having to buy the inserts for the backpacks having to tell their kids no flashy shoes cuz it'll give your location away if you move, needing to teach them how to hide to survive. \nI'm in a very large city in Canada and we have the drills here too, it's terrifying for us just having that part, I can't imagine being a parent in the states worrying about my kids surviving school day by day. And the risk doesn't end there, it's the start of day 216 of 2023 and the USA has had 424 mass shootings events in those 216 days (well 215 days cuz day 216 has literally just started). And that's just the events that have 4 or more victims. \nAdd on the ongoing war on women's rights, wanting to legislate who ppl can love and marry. Nope, your country is quite literally the laughing stock of the world and needs to evolve to bring itself up to par. Your education system is slowly your medical system is insanely overpriced and messy. No thanks. \nCanada has it's issues, I'll admit that, but the USA is like the kid in HS who was always high and doing stupid dangerous ?z the only difference is that kid eventually grows up, the USA doesn't seem to be able to ?

Canadians are too kind and polite to tell you a straight N O... never in a million years would I move to the USA. There are too many reasons never to move there! No matter what kind of insurance you have, you still have to deal with a stupid amount of red tape and bureaucracy just to get your care covered, and the drug prices are out of control. and you have no idea when that horrible health issue is going to happen to you. In Canada, I go to the doctor, I give my health card, done deal. The healthcare system in Ontario particularly is under attack and they're trying to privatize hospital care by underfunding everything else. But our premier is also a Conservative Trump Lite wannabe who is buddy buddy with a lot of rich folks.There are absolutely problems here, Canada is dysfunctional in a lot of ways. But I would NEVER move to the states, definitely not as a disabled/chronically ill woman. Hell no. Also--we're not THAT nice, Americans are always surprised at how much Canadians dislike the USA. My brother moved there but he's much more conservative than me (for Canada) and his job doesn't exist here in Canada.

Each countries have their pros and cons. Yes guns and religions are a big turn off but in Canada we're not as free as in USA. \nHere, in Canada, i can't defend myself or my home, i have to way for the police to show up (and it take enough time for the cops to find a corps) if i do and do arm or kill the offenderl, i end up in jail which leaves Canadians with 2 choices. My nearest hospital has a air ambulance helicopter. In America a Regular ambulance can cost you up to 5k and An air ambulance in the USA can go upto $36,000.\n\nin Ontario i'd pay NOTHING for a regular ambulance and 45 Dollars for the helicopter You're not even in the hospital And we're already talking stupid amounts of money

The problem with Canada's economy is that you have unelected leaders like Trudeau who belong to the WEF and want to deliberately DESTROY Canada. As a Canadian here are my views on the problems here:\n1.Government waste/spending\n2. Insane taxes, we literally pay taxes on our tax here. When you add it all up the lower tax brackets after their 15% gst pay about 45% of their income in taxes alone. Provinces like Nova Scotia are disgusting when it comes to the tax they pay. \n3. Easy immigration, we should consider immigrants based on what they can do for Canada, we don't need hundreds of thousands who can't work or refuse to work. It's a strain on the system. The immigration also artificially increases housing costs.\n4.Government corruption, it's part of why the taxes are so high. It's also part of the recent hyperinflation Canada has suffered. Just look up Trudeaus WE charity Scandall or SNC Lavalin Scandal, some even say Trudeau was getting kickbacks from the vaccine which I have yet to see evidence of but I personally believe it. \n5. Politically illiterate voters and propaganda, here in Canada the government likes to keep it's people uninformed and how they do it is through propaganda. The Liberals have every major news source in Canada in their pocket and in order for you to get news that isn't influenced by them you have to specifically search for them by name, those include Rebel News, TFI Global, and True North. Almost everything else is incredibly biased, they selectively report the news and in many cases outright lie. This causes extreme political illiteracy in it's population.\n6. Housing rules, here in Canada there are some really stupid bylaws like the main floor of your primary dwelling must be 900sqft in some areas, plus building codes prevent cheap construction of homes. You could have a tiny home on piers and it wouldn't cost much but because of our laws and codes it's impossible. You need a proper foundation, footings, building permits, ad in order to get a permit you need to submit blueprints, etc. You can't just buy a prefab building set it on piers and live in it. That'd be too easy, that'd make housing affordable and the government wouldn't like that. \n7. Woke indoctrination centers, The public education system here is all about putting in regular kids and pumping out future Liberal voters. It's a mess.\n8. You can't defend yourself, In Canada you aren't allowed to carry a weapon for self defense. If a criminal breaks into your home you are supposed to do everything you can to escape rather than defend your property. Criminals have more protection under the law than the law abiding citizens. \n9. Low wages, because of immigration wages are low compared to the USA for most jobs in most locations\n10. Thigs cost more in Canada than the USA after taking into consideration currency conversion rates, even things manufactured in Canada\n11. The cold. Nobody likes the cold for the 4-6 months of the year that the higher populated areas of the country have it. The more densely populated areas also tend to be the warmest. \n12. Fascist leaders. It's no secret Justin Trudeau and the Liberals are fascists\n13. Governmental links to the WEF, you'll own nothing and you'll be happy or so their add said. The truth is Canadians can afford less and less under Liberal leadership which is no surprise since Justin Trudeau and Chrystia are supporters of the WEF.

And, set property tax to at least 50% for those whose accumulated real estate is valued over 1M~1.5M. I don't expect the Canadian government would implement such a policy any time soon, the only way out for Canadians is to migrate to the U.S.; Canada soon will become a hallowed country (similar to Hong Kong) - has nothing but real estate - look at the # of jobs related to real estates - totally insane - not mentioning most of these workers only accept cash to avoid taxes. If you are young and not stupid, you should move to the U.S. - period.

I am an American. I am looking to relocate to Canada because of the bad experiences I have had as a California Licensed Structural Engineer with 25+ years of experience. This US license is really difficult to obtain because the exam has a 25% pass rate. In California, it is much tougher because of the earthquakes the state experiences.\n\nInstead of being treated with respect for having this Structural Engineer License, I have been treated badly by structural engineering firms in the US. In the US, you can be fired for no reason at all. They use Performance Improvement Plans to lay me off because I am much smarter than the people I work with. Licensed Structural Engineers do not have job security - so expect to work only a few months.\n\nIn the US, you will have a job for 4 months because your boss has decided to hire someone cheaper and give himself a raise. This happened to me at the City and County of Denver.\n\nLicensed Structural Engineers do not have job security at all because employers do not care about their employees. With workplaces like that, the US is not the place to be. American is not the greatest nation when you have morons like Harry Dunn and Lloyd Christmas from the movie Dumb and Dumber running things! Americans are downright stupid! That is why I am considering relocating to Canada.\n\nI started taking structural engineering courses at the University of British Columbia so I could better myself and get some Canadian experience. In the US, this cannot happen because Americans do not believe in bettering your professional career opportunities. In American companies, you can get fired for getting more education. Also agree with warm southern hospitality in the US, lived in TN, SC, GA and the people were so warm. \nThe thing about Canadian politics being boring might not be such a bad thing LOL. Most, if not all, immigrants have gone through rigorous English proficiency tests from reading, writing, speaking. Likewise most of the immigrants have high educational backgrounds, so they’re definitely proficient in English. They may not have the native speaker accent (just like yourselves) but I highly doubt they could be regarded as not being proficient in the English language. What’s the big deal about the English language by the way? among all of the languages, it’s the easiest to master. So I highly doubt that’s one of the real reasons. It’s more on the stupid “not having Canadian experience” thing. Which is really doesn’t make much sense. How would you expect most immigrants to have Canadian work experience? This backwards thinking is among the reason why Canada is lagging compared to other global countries. Only Canada has this rule. That way, it’s limiting its chances of getting the best talents from every part of the world. Because of this rule, highly skilled immigrants are forced to work jobs that doesn’t require technical skills just to pay the bills, until they got fed up for not being able to get jobs according to their high skills and eventually leave Canada for the US.

My wife, my 3 kids and I used to like Vancouver but not anymore!!! The weather is why we plan to leave for good but also the expensive rents! I also heard about horror stories at many hospitals (and yes, I have worked in Africa and to be honest, Africans hospitals are way more functional than the ones in Canada in terms of human aspect… there they care, Canadians do not give a shit about anyone!!! And I am saying this as a Belgian!!! I have some African colleagues at work here and at least 80 percent of them either want to go back to Africa (one is actually going to start an Afro business there and build his own house) or move to Europe (one of them plans to live to my homeland Belgium and two others in France as apparent the pensions there are way better than the Canadian one) as soon as they get enough experience in canada! None of us at work , including me, want to retire or get old here in Canada! For me personally, it is the Canadian extreme loneliness and lack of willingness to open to others that really shuts me down… I am fed up and and tired of paying taxes in a country where some (not all) hospitals and some retirement homes treat patients like … objects, not human beings! I've been living in Toronto my whole life and for me personally I wouldn't live anywhere else in Canada! I've been to Quebec a bunch of times but that's about it. Our Country tries to promote for Canadians to travel and explore our own country but it's stupid expensive. Why would I pay for a flight to BC when for the same price and time spent on an airplane just go to Europe! I go to Europe every year because it offers a million more things to explore. The other thing that sucks about Canada (though it's beautiful) it doesn't have a lot of major cities and the ones we do have are very scarcely separated. I love living here but if I had to recommend this country to a tourist, I'd say meh just go see the US because it has the same and more.
