As someone from Asia who lives with a comfortable life I guess I’m privileged enough than most people who live on the other part of the world. But still, I can never understand why people force themselves illegally. They can just go through legal process, I’m sure there are other ways. This will never happen here in our part of the world. To deter this, second time maybe 2 weeks in jail, then deport.\nI'm sorry but we spent about 7 years getting to be residents and then citizens. We had to go through interviews, in depth medical tests/hostory, financial and education or skilled trade scrutiny, so we are a net benefit to Canadian society. If you are indigenous to North America anywhere in North America should be open to you, the Europeans came and cut up this continent for their benefit, they made borders all over this world taking other people's countries something nobody did to Europe. If these immigrants are asking for a better life then that’s not a problem but they should not get it for free. The main problem that US/ nyc is facing with these immigrants is that they get everything for free (food stamps, Medicaid, shelter etc from taxpayers). I've lived in both. Canada is a better place to raise your family for sure, and as a society I think it's a better place to live. It's cleaner, safer, and more diverse (and I'm talking real diversity like Aba mentioned, not segregation). There's some cool stuff about the States, don't get me wrong, but my girlfriend (who is American and has visited Canada with me) and I are strongly contemplating moving to Canada. The US has a better night life culture generally speaking and like Aba said there's more to do, but generally speaking I just want a peaceful and simple life.

If you wanna be successful, you most take responsibility for your emotions, not place the blame on others. In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. Idk. I can’t knock their decision that’s for sure. My whole life I’ve wished my grandparents had kept on walking north. They did it legally but if only they’d kept walking north toward reasonable access to healthcare and fewer mass shootings. You know this might actually work out well for Canada. Despite what xenophobic people would have one believe, most of these people are some of the hardest working, law abiding citizens you’ll ever meet.

It is funny in a way that those people are leaving their homes for a better life in the US. Kind of ironic. Their country is so bad and go to the US border and get treated so humanely and with all the kindness they can muster. Only the few can make the trip to the Canadian border. I’m an immigrant who entered legally but overstayed my time. I got a job and pay taxes. I’m not about leeching off a country. I just came from a 3rd country in search of a better life and opportunities that my country doesn’t have.

It's about time human beings realise we all need a better life, we need each other, I may be living my best life today, but tomorrow, I may be fleeing for a better life, safety for my life and my family. Its sad to watch some people, telling others to go back where they come from, forgetting that tomorrow it might be them, looking for help desperately.
