These people think life in the US is so damn easy. It's not. It's way harder when millions of people flood in thinking they'll get a handout. They won't.

That's how life is. Every country has its own rules, regulations and laws. I haven't yet seen other nationalities do that to their neighboring countries.

My husband lost his job of 20 years from Covid! We have 4 kids. Literally had to start life over. We cannot afford anything right now. I’m living in my family’s basement! My parents came illegally and I've have never seen a welfare check in my life. Except all I saw was my parents working 7 days a week and started paying they're taxes just like everybody else when they got the residency and American citizens ship. My friend is from Mexico who came to the US legally and has been a border officer for many years now. He has a very hard time telling Mexican migrants that they cannot enter the US illegally. But the law is law and it is the same if you enter Mexico. It's just a matter of Mexico doesn't have many opportunities for jobs that pays well and it's a better life in the US. I grew up with migrants all of my life. They worked 3 jobs for many hours per day but would rather have that than go back to Mexico - with no job. If Mexico had a flourishing economy, I feel migration isn't an issue. But then there's history - California belongs to Mexico but someone sold it to the Americans long ago.

What are they even doin. If you are not able to get into US legally, you won't be able to make proper life there. And being poor in rich country is a lot worse than in poor country.

You know what pisses me off? I'm 60 yo and all my life this has been an issue. 60 years! You wanna know why? Because if they fix it they have NO PLATFORM to get people riled up with promises of doing something about it...and then don't. And we keep voting for the promise.

Born and raised Cdn and every point you raise is valid IMO and experience. I love my country however, it is hard to get ahead, we work too much, and cost of living is so expensive. The reason why Canada is wonderful for those who stay is A) Charter of Rights and Freedoms - we are protected by laws and citizens enjoy legal, justice, policing and gvmt services that help protect quality of life. B) it is a safe country primarily and not easy to reach for insurgents, terrorist attacks and political anarchy etc. C) We have so much land and space for people to decide where they want to live - density is not high so you can have space. D) it is a beautiful country with awe inspiring nature. E) we do have one of the best immigrant populations and that is our crown. Being diverse is a blessing so if you are atheist, Christian, Muslim etc doesn't matter - you can enjoy freedom to worship as you wish. And F) Healthcare could improve but, the quality of care is world class and speaking as a breast cancer survivor who's treatment ran $120k (diagnostics, chemo, surgery, radiation, med professionals, rehab and drug therapies) we have access to that care whereas in other countries you may not.
