I do appreciate that but here in this podcast its about 3 main countries- Australia, UAE And Canada. \nRegarding Australia i can't comment much as i personally dont have any experience with that country but yes my cousins are there. Regarding UAE- Whatever ashr and sana said i dont agree at all because we have spend more than 15 years in UAE with very decent job. We were quiet free to do all the activities of bank, driving license and all. That country has its own charm. May be Ashr has worked in very small company where he has to go through those things but things are quiet different there. And yes it is very hot in dubai from may to August just came like punjab and delhi in India but aisa b nhi h ki bande ki jaan hi nikale. I split my time between Canada and the US. In the 1980s and 90s, there was very little difference. Far right extremism was left in the most fundamentalist churches and if any of it made it to the larger public sphere, it was either laughed at or ignored. All that changed with the rise of the Tea Party movement, social media, and now MAGA. Now, far right extremism and the Christian theonomy movement are mainstream..sucking in about 1/3 of the country down the rabbit hole of rage and just pure craziness that's just taking over more and more.\n\nI'm looking forward to being able to move entirely out of the US before it's too late. 59:35 I personally think this is just personal story where a lot of circumstances lead to this situation and things might be like this earlier but now post pandemic and especially in 2023 things are so much better, nothing comparable to canada in terms or ease of PR but if one follows right pathway of what the govt. is looking for PR is super easy. Lol the shot at 11:28 isn't in Ontario, it's actually on an island in scotland, it's a place called Tobermory. Ontario also has a Tobermory which is a couple hours from where I grew up. I've been to Tobermory Ontario and it doesn't look anything like the Tobermory in Scotland. First time that I watched your channel - and I commend your candor and your openness. I lived in Canada in the Niagara peninsula and the Greater Toronto Area from 1953 to 1989. Then in 1990, I had a job opportunity to work for a Michigan base company that allowed me much global business travel. I could have moved to Michigan with my wife and two sons however I decided that my residence would still be in Canada on the Windsor side of the Detroit river. I commute every working day across the border and I am glad that I did in fact remain a resident of Canada. I do have a green card still to this day in 2023 as I continue to work for the same company. I can tell you that the for the first few months in 1990, every time that I would cross the border to go back home, I felt a sense of ease and contentment to be back in Canada. I do like the USA but I prefer living in Canada.

So as a Canadian, you don’t quite have the perspective that we do from up here, the batshit-crazy political mess is from coast to coast, everywhere I’ve seen from the US, from local politics up through to federal politics they all skew to support crony capitalism (by comparison), accept religious Christian (or Mormon) fundamentalism, and generally are extremely undemocratic by comparison to what we are used to here in Canada. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely have our faults, but it’s everywhere in the US and a whole order of magnitude or more. Up here it’s bad enough we have to deal with the blowback and seepage of some of these bat-shit crazy views like the anti-abortion issue , extreme gun rights, science denialism, and anti-LGBTQ2+ nut jobs.

Moved there for about 16 months and it just wasn't for us on so many fronts. We just really missed Canada so we returned. No problem getting health care or new jobs.

I am a Canadian and I love the cheaper gas and groceries but I’d never live there. I’ve been in and out of hospitals had about 10 surgeries so far at 46 and I’m transgender I could never survive there. When I use to live in Windsor Ontario and lived across from Detroit I use to go over to buy groceries and gas but that enough for me. No offence to anyone it just wouldn’t work for me. I’m proud to be a Canadian and I live in Nova Scotia Canada and health care sucks in the sense waiting for things like surgeries and MRI takes a long time I know someone who waited 2 years for one but it is free and I would probably be dead if I had to pay for healthcare so I’ll stay here.

For so many reasons NO. In 75 years have never even seen or touched a gun. I’m repulsed by the infatuation so many Americans have for them. I hope to never step foot in the USA again. I’ll fly over it to holiday anywhere else. I hate to generalize but so many Americans care to know nothing about the rest of the world. To your point about choosing where exactly in the US you live - I grew up for 26 years near Toronto but have lived in the US for the last 20 (husband is American). We live in a bubble of like-minded and similar people, and there are very few places in the US we could tolerate. Also, DO NOT underestimate the effects of school shootings on families. I have kids and I'm a teacher. It's on my mind EVERY SINGLE DAY. I'm kind of hoping my kids decide to go to university in Canada. Finally, don't forget that for good health insurance, you are paying a premium just for the coverage, and then on top of that if anything happens you are paying hundreds/thousands of dollars for the services!

In the US, the price setter for health care is the doctor, or hospital. Given that it can be life or death, the sky is the limit for the price. In Canada, the government pays the bills. It pays in bulk. And thus gets the best prices. So. \n\nIt’s simple economics. \n\nPrivate industry wrote the laws and is writing the laws that govern their areas today. That’s what all those filthy rich lobbyists are doing in Washington, DC.

I did move to the USA and lived in Brooklyn, New York for three years. My experience was mixed and I considered New England but I can't sample each of the remaining 49 states bcz life is too short. So I returned to Canada.

Affordable internet is indeed a problem, same for the cell phone plans they are too expensive because 3 reasons: 1 its a huge country so you need more cell towers to provide for everyone, it has a low population density so individuals have to pay more for it. Now those first 2 are unavoidable. HOWEVER the 3rd reason is inexcusable: The companies don't like to share their infrastructure with the competition. Everytime someone new comes by they need to build their own infrastructure from scratch. So even if telecom came to Canada it would still be super expensive because they'd have to build their own network from nothing because the existing companies are too selfish to share their infrastructure.

A colleague was a bank manager in the south. Medical insurance up the ying-yang. When he had a heart attack, the bank fired him. This resulted in the loss of his insurance, his home and investments, ...and he was reduced to working part time for a pittance at a major retailer. Fortunately for him, he'd had the good sense to marry a Canadian years before this disaster. She and her family moved him to Canada where he received free medical care and continuing support, enabling him to thrive. His career was blown but his wife picked up the ball and built a real estate sales business in Canada.

As a Canadian I can say that the #1 Canadian person who moves to USA is our medical staff. Nurses and doctors make much more in the states many people get educated and get some experience in Canada and then move to USA for the increased income. It's a bummer because in my small town there aren't many family doctors and many people don't have a family doctor and won't for years because of the doctor shortage at least in BC but I think it's a Canada wide issue. I am lucky to have a doctor who wants to live in a small town and help people, he is from south Africa ! ?

I see you have a false sense of security about your job providing health care benefits to you in the USA. What happens when you get in a car accident and can no longer work. You get fired, lose your benefits and you have to fund your own 15 reconstructive surgeries without insurance? In Canada it's all free and you get a disability pension at the end of it.

@Tyler, I think you need to learn about guns in Canada. You seem to think that we don’t have many. To the contrary we have A LOT of them, we just don’t make it our culture! We learn what they’re used for and that’s where we use them! We also have better safety around guns and they can be seized for certain reasons, such as family violence, mental health crisis etcetera…

I realize you live in the USA. I cannot accept your use of “American”! There are 3 countries in North America alone. Canada, the USA and Mexico. I suggest google’n “ school shootings, small town America”…. article after article, when you do, says why most mass school shootings tend to happen in small towns….where nobody expects that they would have happened & how all the residents in those towns are always surprised that they happened in their town. \nI say this as somebody who once loved the idea of moving to the USA. \nMy mom was a single parent and as a result I spent a ton of time as a very young kid in the late 80s throughout the mid 90s in a small town in Oregon on my aunt and uncles dairy farm with my cousins and I absolutely loved it. Truthfully, I still love small-town America and I love the vast majority of the people I have met from small-town America. There is the friendliness and community that I find very similar to prairie farming towns in Canada. \n And as a kid, I loved the focus on high school sports in the small USA town I spent time in and how it brought the community together. It was very exciting to go to my cousins football games—stuff like that was super fun as a kid.\nAs an adult, with 2 young kids of my own now? \nYes, I would be terrified to send my children to any school in the United States, especially knowing that the vast majority of my school shootings do happen in small towns, which is a type of place in the states I would personally like to go to, if I did move. \n\nAdditionally, I will be completely bankrupt at this point given my own health issues as well as my two kids health issues and I’m just in my late 30s. \nAnd I’m not talking to super crazy health issues, but health issues nonetheless. I have asthma that has gone through patches where I’ve had to be hospitalized & I was diagnosed with stage 3 malignant melanoma when I was in my late 20s and pregnant with my 2nd. My first child was born with a congenital heart disorder that was missed through the pregnancy and until she was two, and that involved many many trips to the hospital & various specialists until they figured out what was going on (one of the symptoms was her randomly stopping breathing and going blue, which was terrifying, and could’ve been for many different reasons & it took many specialists & many hospital visits to figure it all out)\nMy son was born with a multiple protein intolerance and later received an autism diagnosis. There a decent number of hospital visits and specialists for his first couple of years of life too. \n\n I have no idea if I was in the United States how I would’ve paid for any of our health issues (let alone all three of ours) for that 5 or 6 year period where we all needed various types of regular-ish medical care. \n(because we got good medical care, thankfully, none of us have really had to see doctors any more than the average person in the last few years?)\n\nMy kids are now in elementary school, and, as a Canadian, the issue of school shootings happening anywhere….., including in small towns that seem perfectly safe……as well as the cost of healthcare for stuff that is covered by our taxes here in Canada….. are the two biggest reasons that I will think fondly of my time in small-town America, but would never consider moving there

I have spina bifida and I’ve had 20+ surgeries. I’m not leaving a country that kept me out of bankruptcy and death and kept me from getting shot. I’m white, but I’m not playing Russian Roulette with my life. I just in the last few years discovered cannabis as relief for my chronic pain. I know there are some places where it’s legal, but it isn’t worth the risk for me. I remember visiting LA when I was 12 and hearing about how cool and hip Beverly Hills was. When I got there, it looked worse than the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, which is one of the poorest, most crime filled places in Canada. It was scary. That’s not the kind of “freedom” I’m looking for. You can’t exercise any freedom when you’re 6 feet under.

I don't think I would move to the U.S. for many reasons. Healthcare is great in Canada. I don't think I'd be able to afford insurance in the U.S. , I also would be afraid of guns, the coastlines will rise by the 2030s, so my dreams of California and New York are out as well, never mind the outrageous cost of living there and being an arts person, I wouldn't want to be there now with the strike. I don't think I'd be affected as a stand-up comedian, but the opportunities would be way less with the industry shut down.

One of Canadian’s less admirable qualities is that we can be a little smug when comparing ourselves to the US.\n\nTo cheer Tyler up there are some things I prefer about the states. Where I live in Vancouver we’re quite cliquish and don’t talk to strangers, but when I’m in the states I can make a new best friend in a subway ride.\n\nAmericans are also extremely charitable. If you look at the rates of charitable giving in the US vs Canada there is no comparison.

Hell yes. I'd move back in an instant. I used to live in the US with my American wife. Coming back to Canada we enjoyed nothing but expense, no rights, a lot of restrictions and now it's becoming like communist China. Love it or hate it America is the last place on earth that has real rights backed up by a real constitution. And you can enjoy any locale not just a few mile strip across the Canadian wet, frozen or scorching nation. People that think the US is bad are deluded and probably leftist, anti-Trumpers, think that the Canadian health care system is free and you have a choice.
