I would pay 40% income tax happily IFFFF our tax dollars were devoted to services mirroring the way Scandinavian countries do - they invest it WELL in their municipal services rather rather than blow it. \nOur federal and provincial bureaucrats are sucking. Even with insurance in the US, if you have a baby, you will be paying tens of thousands of dollars. In Ontario Canada where i live i paid zero dollars. What if someone with prexisting health issues tries to have insurance as an entrepreneur? God forbid they have a child or they will have a huge bill. We have extremely great health care professionals! I was very ill and I had to stay in the hospital for 4 weeks! The only thing I had to pay for (besides my taxes), lol, was the ambulance ride from my small town to the next larger town. This cost me $45.00. This bill came to me after I was home for a couple of weeks! \nDo I want to pay $200.00 a month for health care insurance….NO WAY! \nWe have other programs…example….. old age, disabilities of every kind, nursing at home, and so much more! I have paid my taxes willingly all my life and enjoy every benefit they bring me! I left Canada ?? in 98 and don’t own a winter coat anymore and rarely wear socks . Look at what a shithole Vancouver has become , tent city . I left after GST came in and cigarettes hit $5 . I’ve been through this - I studied in the US, went through a nightmare-ish immigration process in the US and moved to Canada. I wish I had chosen Canada sooner; the only reason I didn’t is that I didn’t know enough about it. Canada is awesome and its immigration system is incredibly welcoming and efficient. And if you’re entrepreneurial like many immigrants you can make good money and live well.

Pro tip: immigrate to Canada and then start your own tech company with 50% lower staffing costs. Hire H1-B talent from the USA and enjoy far greater profits from the start.

Back in the 1990s about 10 of us were recently graduated nurses from Canada. Going to the states in Texas was Big Adventure. Two of us stayed because they got married but the rest of us move back to Canada within about 5 to 8 years. I loved it down there but Canada felt safer to raise a family. All three of my kids were born down there. We all still love America, Canada's less-populated property is cheaper if you don't live in the major cities, but I think we all mostly maoved back because of family reasons. There is no real Financial incentive to stay because the lifestyles are so similar.

I'm Canadian and I would move to certain places in the US, but not all, the same as I think of places in Canada. I love and respect that the States are or were the beacon for democracy and freedom of religion and speech. The world has benefitted so much from the freedoms outlined in your constitution but which are now under such extreme pressure to collapse. As a Canadian with family in the US, I will say this. My cousin and her husband are leading medical doctors in their field. They both left NY to go back to Montreal. Another cousin is a corporate lawyer who also moved back to Canada, even though he made a lot of money. In all three cases, they did not want their children growing up in the US. Random violence was a major concern, indeed, Canada has a travel advisory on the US for this reason. Also, my cousin could not take the private health care system. She wanted to treat ppl regardless of insurance and in the US she couldn't while in Canada, cost is never a concern. My lawyer cousin also disliked the US private medical system. Rather than his doctor having control it was his insurance company. Lastly, was the quality of life. All three mentioned that the food supply in the US is way too processed.

For illegals it's USA it's as simple as crossing border via Mexico .. But if you want to legally settle in North America then it's canada.. more relaxed and transparent pathways.
