I was born in El Salvador. I have a lot of family in the USA. At the worst moment in El Salvador's situation with the gang violence I would always prefer to go back to El Salvador if I had to leave Canada

As a dual citizen, currently in Canada, but have lived in CA, AZ, TX, and FL. I Can say... NO!... BUT...I so miss the weather, geography of much of the US. \n\nI wish the political, religious and gun culture would improve so I could move back. But at this point the beautiful landscapes and weather just aren't worth it.\n\nSorry, keep up the amazing content. I love your honesty and humbleness. ??✌?

I'm a Canadian from Toronto that's been living in Boston for the past 4 years. Love the city - probably the most underrated in North America. The people here are friendly (not polite, but friendly), and I've generally enjoyed living here. Having said all of that, I'm moving back to Canada in a week. There are some major benefits to living in Boston over Toronto - the pay is significantly higher for the same job, the city is beautiful, and the weather is much better. My wife has enjoyed her time here less, as there are some subtle cultural differences here with misogyny (men in professional settings always touching her inappropriately, she's been drugged at bars several times, and she is treated poorly by many men). Things that were unthinkable in Toronto. Add the slow deterioration of women's rights in this country, and the general situation with healthcare, and its become a rather unwelcoming place for someone used to Canadian culture.

The only good reason to move to the US is money. It’s a great country for making money if you have the skills or talent. Other than that Canada is a much better country to live in IMHO and there is more to life than money.

In a heartbeat. Canada can only afford it's socialized medicine because we shelter under the US defence budget paid for by the American people our smug left loves to denigrate.

In Canada you can be the poorest of the poor and get the same health care as almost everyone else. The very rich can choose to travel to get treatment elsewhere. No one in Canada is ever denied healthcare. We do have to pay for ambulances but there is goverment assistance for that. We do have to pay for medication but you can buy reasonablle copay policies for that. GO CANADA GO?

As an Albertan this makes me sad. All of the things people think are better in Canada are being attacked here. Healthcare is slowly moving towards privatization. Several of our political candidates are reminiscent of the crazier US conservatives. There is a pro gun subset that is getting more vocal. Our new minister of Healthcare is a pro-lifer.

Tyler we are bombarded with videos of robbing, mass shootings, crazy Neighbours, car jackings, corrupt police, drug infested streets and homelessness, crazy politics etc. every day. Some of this happens in Canada but in tiny doses and that's the way I like it. California use to be beautiful now it's a ghetto. I used to love going down, but I stay home now and plan on traveling to Europe.

Props Tyler you took that well. I lived in the states for over 10 years. CT, MA, NY, IN. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Every place has faults if you look hard enough but you wont find more generous people than in America.\nCanada is my home and I love the culture and the people but I found Americans are just as nice and kind.\nIf you haven't lived there you can only judge by what you know. As for me I lived and traveled there since I was 20. In various States.\nIf you haven't been endeared to the Americans while living there you haven't been around the right people. Tyler, with complete respect you DON'T get why we generally have no interest in moving to the US. You constantly talk about 'you just have to find the right place to live'. True of anywhere, but here the choice would be about preferences and afordability, NOT to avoid gun violence or shunning because of political views.\nThere is no where in Canada I could move to where gun violence would be a big factor to consider (we have rough places, and gun violence, but STRICT gun laws). Let me give you some perspective. In 2019 the USA had 37,038 gun related deaths. (No other causes of death- JUST all gun death). In Canada, in 2019, our death by illegal means (which does include suicide, as it is illegal) was 5,874. (That is for ALL types of homicide, not just guns). And the government was shocked by the increase that year and tightened gun restrictions further.\nYou talk about having certain States more Red or Blue. We aren't bi- partisan, so our politics are a melting pot. You might have people you disagree with everywhere you go, but you will also always find an equal group who thinks similar (unless your an extremist). And even the people who think different will generally agree to dis- agree. There is next to nowhere in Canada where your political views would get you run out of town. \n\nYou are USED to thinking like an American. (Fair, your American; I think like a Canadian) Trust me, as a Canadian, there are aspects of the accepted American culture (your country's way of life) that is boarderline terrifying to people here.

I'm Canadian and lived in Maryland for 8 years....I would not move back to the states for any reason. In Maryland I experienced fights resulting in reconstructive surgery for someone involved, a bomb threat, swat lock down with drug and firearm dogs, a gang fight in my school, a full blown riot in school AND someone being stabbed less than 5 feet from me....in Canada I experienced a someone being stabbed less than 5 feet from me as well....that being said I would border hop to shop but move??? Thats a hard pass. Especially now that I have children (1 of who has a chronic illness) I would never.

The year isnt done yet.\n\nMy sister moved and lived 6yrs in Texas. 1st wk into her new life there... shootout/lockdown in a Walmart. That was the first/closest time our familly was as close to a handgun (except my father - RCAF veteran).\n\nShe moved back during C-19 in 2021. Lamenting the lack of choices of cracker flavours in Canada. But no longer worried about her HC Insurance. Still complains we only havr 4 flavours of Poptarts.\n\nMy father lived in the US for work and moved for a while. I was glad we moved back to Canada. (I was 10)\n\n Even as a kid, I felt unsafe there. When we came back. There was a wierd relief, that I didnt know how to explain to my Mom & Dad.\n\n Today as an adult. I know my subconscious was always telling me somesort of truth.\n\nIn Canada, its much safer. Definitely.

not using email is not using outdated tech, we do have emails but most people including myself dont like using emails. I prefer talking to a human directly. Besides it was Canada that invented the phone. I am proud of my country's legacy and will stick with the phone. \nSpeaking of outdated technologies, email are outdated. The modern way to comunicate is by text because not only is it easy to read your text like emails but whenever they need comes you can switch to vocal and talk directly and if you want you canturn on your camera and see who you are talking to.... Cant do that with email.

America is a beautiful country to look at, and I'm sure there are lots of beautiful people, but the arrogance of some of them is mind blowing. I recently watched the news footage of 911, I cried all the way through that, first out of compassion and next out of frustration. When people were jumping out of those towers, George Dubya was making a statement that terrorism would not stand in America. What did he think was standing in his face. The terrorists won that day. Then when they got Bin Laden He stands up and says we got him . Big deal you got one person , when there are dozens to take his place. No mention of other countries that helped them. , they have taken full credit for every war that ever happened. They wonder why the rest of the world hates that country. The sad thing is that 911 didn't teach them a thing. They brag about how they lost 3000 people and other countries only lost a few to terrorism. How sad that they think that way. You had a great president in Obama, but you have that 2 term rule and have been going downhill ever since. And our Canada's Prime minister is certainly nothing to be proud of. Politically he's no threat to anybody, but his own country. Mostly he is an immoral threat to his own country. But that's another vent for another day. I still pray every day for the world and that includes America, but I can't imagine what it will take to break them of that arrogance.

When I think of the US the first word that comes to mind is THANKFUL. Thankful that all my ancestor’s immigrated to Canada. Especially the United Empire Loyalist’s that came and settled in Ontario. Also the ancestor's that fought for our freedoms, We will remember them. We up her in the great white north will always think of our cousin’s to the south and wish them all the best in the future.

When you tie your healthcare to your job to run the risk of not being able to change jobs or careers as the loss of your current healthcare plan could be too much for some. In Canada we are free to change jobs, quit jobs, start a new business, retire etc. without fear of losing our healthcare.

I lived in MA for 17 years. I liked it and have many friends from there. I would go back, but yes, the healthcare would stop me. Getting older, needing more medical intervention. Not having to worry about healthcare costs is easy. I also said that the US was one step away from being behind the iron curtain. There is not the same freedoms there as there is here in Canada. Listen... I'm all for helping out fellow human beings but it seems this person was blocking her way which you can see, and she explains that this isn't the first time he's done that! For the healthcare part, I didn't know that there is a shortage of service providers, because for almost 40 years I have been living in Canada, I could not remember my waiting time for the service, except in emergencies. Which don't give me a minute waiting time anyway.\n\nThe reason is I take advantage of free online healthcare education. The very same stuff the doctors need to update their knowledge. And I use food and healthy lifestyle as medical treatments. So, I survive with sickness including cancer and contagious illness from pandemic.

I live in canada and am starting my final year of high-school in the fall. I have a lot of friends my age, none of us are planning to stay. All of us are going to the States or Europe. We're not leaving because we don't like Canada, we're being forced out because its too expensive to survive. The last two years have been a slow realization that the options for people my age are A) live on the support of your parents for the rest of your foreseeable life, B) become homeless, or C) leave.\n\nIts especially painful because a lot of people here came from immigrant families who worked hard to come here for a better life for their kids, just to have their kids leave for elsewhere or even return to their country of origin.

I lived in Canada from 2002 to 2013 and then came back to Brazil because a super job opportunity. I don’t have to say that I love the country and have so many friends in Vancouver. I agree with each and everything that both the ladies have said. I am 52 and have spent beautiful 25 yrs in Qatar. Since my children wanted to settle in USA I am in US now. However I have a question for Smita ji since both her children are in Canada now who will take care of her and her husband once they are too old to travel. Also after 15 years the children will be busy with higher education of grandchildren. The friends and maids that are a source of happiness in good health won't be of use because they will also be old and suffering.
