I've got a Canadian PR and went to see the country in October. As IT professional I find it hard to get a job, earnings- expenses ratio is not really favorable. So I stay in Armenia and work for Russian companies. Salaries are booming and hrs are looking for candidates. \nNot to say about tech stack that is more adavanced in general\n\nCanada muat do something with its system. I dont want to live without free access to medical services, I dont wanna beg some company to hire me to a lower position and pay crazy rent.

Students who come from certain countries (you know where) come to look for free food and free benefits from Canada. I work at a well known university and see them come for food bank the first day they landed. Even some came to complain that their grants got cut (of course, coz they never finish the thesis) and demanded for financial support as they need to pay for family expenses including car loan!! Wtf is car loan??? If you wonder where are these students from…you guess it’s right. We see them everywhere.

International students promised that they got enough money to pay for their tuition fees and accommodation before getting university offer letter. It is funny they can work 40 hours just like the full time workers. Why did they tell that they got sufficient money to the University and Immigration and they wil focus on their study only till their study is completed? Why do they protest on roads now telling that teachers are falling them intentionally?

I left Canada 3 years after I got the citizenship, because the cost of living was unbearable. I was living in 1 bedroom condo in Vancouver (Canada), with no cars or investment. In 2020 I found an entry lvl job at Amazon Seattle (US). My pay doubled, tax reduced by 50%. Sold my Canada condo, and bought a single family home and a car in Seattle. Never wanted to come back. \n\nPS: I lived in Toronto for 5 years, and Vancouver for 5 years.

Canadians are working two jobs and 60 to 80 hours per week just to survive! Both the husband and wife must work like slaves. We have no choice! I was just forced by my husband to come here in 2010. I never plan to live abroad but I went for the sake of the kids and dont want regret. My husband is mentally ill even before we got married(family took advantage of me when they saw I was an independent widow that time). Upon arriving here, nothing was prepared,no beds no nothing just the social housing and he was already orienting me to get food from food bank and simply convinced me to follow here for the child benefits,free education and healthcare. Let me just mention, the family of my husband is claiming they were rich and prominent in the Philippines. Fast forward....14 years after, he didnt get a house for us....I just ran after him for child support....he didnt finish the divorce process that I ask him to do upon arrival....now, that its time for him to pay tution fee for college, he is mad! He is so desperate that he brainwashed one of his sons to blame me and make me feel like the whole thing is my fault! My son almost killed me last time bec his dad getting sympathy and ranting that he has no money. This is the biggest regret of my life......I believe if my sons are educated and grew up in the Philippines, they are more happy and was able to tap all their talents and intelligence. I am done here! And for people telling me that the money we earn here we dont get in the Philippines....sorry, my peace of mind and dignity has no price tag. I am not materialistic too. I worked in the mines of Northern Ontario have had two wives and six children payed high child support and spousal support. But just before I was ready to retire I had no more responsibilities and I got to keep my pension. I brought a house twenty years ago in Newfoundland where I am from and put it in my Mother's name. I am now retired with a payed for home which I heat with a wood cook stove, electric base boards but never need them and have solar panels and wind turbines but I am still hooked up to the grid but my bill is 40 dollars.I don't have internet or Netflix only a cell phone with a 100 gigabytes download.I run my tv off solar power that charges golf cart batteries also have a generator to charge the battery bank .I download off of YouTube and other places to a 1 terabyte hard drive that run thru my laptop and have that backuped . I have a ham radio. 250 gallon water tank just in case the village I live in the water goes out. I have a water flush toilet and a compost toilet. My property has apple trees and very productive raised beds to grow food, I also fish and hunt small game but I buy beef and pork that is free range and grass fed from a local butcher. There are many ATV trails around here, we have a gas station and small grocery store which I try to buy as much as possible from to support local employment. I have a side by side ATV with a nice back box , insurance and gas cost nothing. I used to have a truck but got rid of it because I didn't need it to get around plus I enjoy the ride in the side by side. The only draw back is to many people drink and drive around here and young people on drugs who steal.. I have pension and benefits and traveled for five years before I came back here. I get restless for excitement but remember it's a time to be quiet. Don't crave others company and I am pretty healthy, the only stress I have is to figure out what I am going to do that day. Yes I have to work to get wood and grow food but I could sit on my ass all day if I felt like it but you got to keep yourself in shape. I watch a lot documentaries and read e books but have my favorite books in paper. It does get boring but boring is good and you must be happy with what you got and no I don't need a partner remember I was married twice and everything was about what they wanted and not me.. I have gotten used to not answering to anyone or having to meet their needs and wants.. yes I am happy and don't have to struggle

Canada has always been expensive. I moved here from Texas for my wife. This isn't the same Canada I moved to though. It's far worse. The job market is crap. It's difficult to get a job in your field. It's easy to get useless jobs that have no long term career opportunities. Real estate is atrocious. Ninety year mortgages? That's just crazy. I don't foresee owning a home in Canada. Rent has gotten so high we refuse to move. We need a bigger place, but we can't afford it. The healthcare is not good, and the wait times are ridiculous. I got better healthcare when I paid out of pocket, but under provincial insurance it's pretty bad. It also doesn't have full healthcare like the UK. At least paying for insurance in the States, everything was covered. Wages suck, benefits are generally bad or nonexistent. My wife is finally about ready to get the hell out.

Some of them come , right after grade 12 only one thing in their mind to get immigration! Most of them come to get same degree management or hospitality managing hotels ! I totally agree that this country will break your spine and test your ultimate willpower. Me and my wife came here 5 years back and we decided that we will shut ourselves like a tortoise. Forget about savings and forget about everything else. Only and only one goal we had in mind is that we will live in the basement and earn top dollars. Just to give you a perspective. My first pay was 19 dollar per hour and my current pay is 87 per hour. My wife started with 16.5 per hour and now earning 69 per hour. Even though our income grew substantially, we never raised our expenses. Answer to all problems in Canada is income. Now after 5 years we bought house worth of 1.4 M. We moved out of basement and felt immense pride. We paid 37% down payment and 3 banks approved our mortgages in a heartbeat. No debt at all. We paid up our car in full. Just a regular new suv nothing fancy. \nEveryone is different, we all are unique and I believe you took a right decision. Each and every word you said in the video is true. \nWe cried , we fought , we felt that our life is ruined but we both thought that ek bar to Canada ko harana hai. When I contemplated moving to Canada I really wanted to move to Toronto because a friend of mine who lived there really hyped it up and I was extremely impressed with its diversity. but as I got to know Toronto via talking to my friend every day and seeing how she struggled to pay rent and her bills I became more and more turned off by the ridiculous cost of living. Also, the fact that they don't even have unlimited data plans just boggles my mind.

I immigrted in 2016 and went back to my country in 2022 after collecting my citizenship, and staying a total of 5.5 years.\n\n In terms of money, i brought $15k as settlement funds. Saved in excess of $65k from salary i earned after paying taxes and got $16k in tax returns. From these savings i helped my sibling in paying his NDBE exam fee, paid hospital bill when my mom was diagnosed with covid in 2020 (she fully recoered and is in excellent health now) for myself i bought books, computers and other electronic gadgets of my choice, After returning back i made an investment of $20k and bought a plot of land for $25k measuring 240 sq yards and still left with nearly $12k.\n\nIt would need another $50k to built a double story house on it with all the luxurious ( which i will save in my next tour) . To me the best place on earth is where you can live a happy and comfortable life.

As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. I have travelled Europe extensively, Central America, as well as parts of SE Asia. \n\nCanada is indeed expensive and has become moreso because we too easily accept the rising prices, just so we can feel good being a Canadian. Tipping culture is ridiculous, even for bad service, many feel the need to tip 15% because of fear of being regarded as a cheapskate or avoiding offending the service provider. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. By no means am I poor, either. I got lucky with both real estate and stocks. Yet, I feel like I am working to just get by, while being taxed well beyond what I am getting in return.

I left Toronto in 2017 (born and raised there, lived in Toronto for 35 years about). I moved to London Ontario, the cost of housing here is basically half of what I was paying in Toronto. I even took a $10k per year paycut for a new job and I still live better in London Ontario than I did in Toronto because in Toronto nearly my whole salary went towards living in squalor.. whereas for half of what I paid in Toronto got me a comfortable home in London. Unless you are wealthy, living in Toronto is lunacy.. you can live much more comfortably by just leaving the big cities like Toronto and Vancouver, even if it means taking a lower paying job.

i found toronto exciting at first ,back in early 1990s when I left the North to find mechanical work . Getting an entry level job took only 1 day. Finding a 1 bedroom apartment at $700 /mo took almost a month and that was a noisy cockroach infested highrise.\n3 different employers and skilled trades licenses later ,I was about to abandon Ontario for the oilfields in 2010 but got a job in a public utility downtown paying skilled wages , however by then , starter houses cost + 3/4 million , so I bought a reno gut out in Durham region and commute through the now horrible traffic. I'm selling high after i retire soon and taking my part pension to a lower tax jurisdiction not populated by Leftwing lunatic voters.

high cost of living it makes sense to leave Canada all together . You are taxed to death in Canada every thing cost more Canada is a great place if you all ready have lots of money . After two years of working at a job that was not even what I studied I left Canada and found a job that I studied for I got a good job in America Long island New York and never looked back……. I get paid double then I would have if I had gotten a job in Canada any way ….. forget Canadian experience it’s not worth moving to Canada the country has changed. You pay more for everything in the states you get things for a lot less . Car insurance in Canada is so expensive……… do t get me started on the winter ?

I start to wonder if there's anyone who is not struggling in Toronto unless rich? I got a well paying job, not even my own place (shared house with too many people) and a car and an estimate of 70-80% of my income is used for monthly bills. You don't even get the basics in this city without struggling. Looking for alternative but rental prices seem to be high everywhere even in Kingston and other places far away. Food prices are insane, going out has become very expensive. Don't even mention all the taxes and high car insurance rates. Feel stuck. It's a nightmare.

I cant blame you for the cold. I dont love the winter either. I moved back to the cold winter from the coast and boy do you get spoiled on either coast of canada for weather! I just dont like to be cold. If I could move to the USA, preferably texas. I would go. In terms of living costs, its sad how many canadians dont understand that places like BC and ON have been pricey for a long time. Its new in other provinces to be this expensive and AB, SK, MB, QC. While some of those provinces are more expensive than others, they're new to the super high prices and many refuse to recognize how ON and BC have been paying these prices far longer then inflation right now, which isn't new either. While I'm not muslim, I am LDS and we are not a favourite religion in society either. We get chastised all the time and nobody bats an eye. I've been insulted by employers, our church buildings have been set on fire. I still have to explain why my faith doesn't believe in working on sundays (as employers want that these days). I think some religions or non religious dont want to recognize what we get put through too. Even though we can relate to muslims in our own way. My faith enjoys serving communities with the muslims, I have worked with muslims and many are just the kindest people! The first president of our church got murdered and our people got chased within the USA and americans seem to believe that this doesn't happen in their own country but the same hate has and continues to happen in my faith. So I can understand, we face a lot of rejection when we speak about our faith. I can understand in my own way how you feel.

It is impossible to get ahead in Canada. This country loves to text you when you’re getting ahead when you start really making money this country loves to show you whose boss and loves to take the money away from you is impossible to throw it in your face forward in this country you think you’re making it, but the government shows you tells you put it in your goddamn fucking face that you got nowhere to go, but just pay us.

Canada sucks. I graduated 7 years ago and never found steady work in my field. Best I got was a half year contract. And then I learned that even if you make 5500$ a month, your gross pay will look more like 3200$ once the government takes its cut. And for what??? What do they actual provide to Canadian citizens? NOTHING. The only people getting anything from the government are drug addicts, refugees, and boomers. Canada is a country where everything is expensive and you get paid shit. The people suck, the culture sucks, the weather sucks...I cannot think of a single upside of living here (except maybe that it's not a religious shithole and women aren't treated like cattle).

They show a lot of grocery stores when they talk about monopolies, but it’s in everything. When I was getting my internet set up I found out only one of the two main companies in Canada is provided for my area (they do this on purpose). So I pay over $100 a month just for internet. And literally have no other cheaper option other than living with no internet. (I’m in a small town so there aren’t even any cafes or anything to pop into). And live alone. Another thing, we’ve got a big country, and I live in a rural community, so most of my colleagues drive at least 45 minutes to get to work, one way, because they’d rather live in the city. And this is NB so you can’t take public transportation like trains to get here, you’re driving on the highway to get here. Since the pandemic houses have more than doubled, I did get a raise, but it was I think 4% over the last three years. So cost of living is definitely increasing at a much higher rate. Before the pandemic I could buy a week of groceries for one person for $60, now it’s more than $100 for a week easily, and that’s with looking for bargains and reducing the amount of meat and fresh produce I eat. It can’t keep getting worse, because people already can’t afford it, so something is going to have to change before everything breaks completely.

What is actually causing the problems in Canada is PRECISELY the expectations of a high standard of living absolutely everyone has, including brand new immigrants. Who as if they were owed a palace immediately begin complaining about the work they have to do and the fact they're not immediately appointed the king of Canada. To put simply, we have an incredibly spoiled population, a population that expects low prices for everything and has a terrible productivity overall and does not wish to work in the kinds of jobs that every economy needs in order to fuel everything else. Food production is the so-called inceptive value. The more food you produce, the more people can consume it, and this in turn flows through the economy to enable all the other kinds of economic activity. We have to bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers from Mexico just to be able to harvest. In the past, Canada allowed immigration from all over the world of people who were mostly poor, refugees, and those desperate for a new life. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. In other words, Canada has chosen to attract high quality candidates on the assumption that they would be less likely to become criminals, while they in turn, having been picked from the best in their society, arrive in Canada with very high expectations, and discover that actually they're going to have to work in all sorts of other kinds of jobs and will probably not work in their field, even though that's what got them the points to come to the country. This is the brilliant system brought in by Stephen Harper's conservatives, which brings in people with high education, and allegedly high skills, especially high language skills, so the government doesn't have to pay for their language training, but it doesn't consider the fact that these are very often people with other choices, who are not willing to work in construction or farming or service or retail or all those kinds of things that we desperately need workers in. The reason why we can't build enough housing has nothing to do with local governments and property values. It has to do with lack of labor. This education system, for some unbeknowned reason, is absolutely terrible, and provides basically no skills, training or education for the vast majority of high school students such that when they graduate high school, their forced to go to university or college. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. Other than emotional safety, intersectional language, and wokeism. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Property and so they oppose everything on account of environmental reasons. But it's just to keep people out and preserve their own privileged place. This country also as most others suffers from the illness of dishonesty and lack of integrity brought about by a culture of marketers where nothing is the way it is said to be. Everything is a fine print. And we have gotten used to this as normal. We've gotten used to having credit cards, charges, 25% interest, we've gotten used to being ripped off constantly by all the corporations for everything, and nobody complains and they just borrow more and they just bottle it in and now it's finally coming out. They're fed up of people who complain and bitch one moment about the pipeline and then complain and bitch the next moment about the high cost of gasoline when the pipeline is temporarily shut down for servicing. I agree about cash grabs. I own a house with a basement apartment, I didn't put it in, the previous owner from 20 years ago did. I recently got a new tenant and had it listed online, once I acknowledged it had been rented, Zolo called the city on me. I have to get the basement registered or evict my tenant or pay $25,000 for disobeying the bylaws. I decided to get the basement registered and they are telling me that I don't have 50 % Landscaping so I have to pay $800 to apply for an exception ( even after paying the fee I could still be denied, that's just a fee for the application)\n\nNo one within 30 square km of my house has 50% landscaping, that's not how the neighborhoods were designed. It's a cash grab. After paying the $800 I still have to go through the process to register the basement which is going to cost me another $1,000 plus whatever changes they ask me to make.\n\nWe are in an affordable housing crisis and this is the bs that I'm going through just trying to rent my basement. I'm not a slumlord nor do I overcharge for rent, the system is grossly unfair

I stopped visiting Canada 40 years ago because of insane or corrupt border control policies. I traveled to Canada from California to record an album for a popular rock star. My crew number 4 people and we had reserves a month for basic tracking in a studio there. We bought our own reels of 3 inch wide recording tape because the studio wanted twice the rate as normal and since my studio was a distributor for the mastering tapes we brought from my own inventory. Each reel of tape was 3 lbs and brought 30 reels. We got to customs and they said we owed money for importing the tape. Normally a reel would have been $180, and customs wanted $38,000 x 20, and would not let us retrieve it to take it back to the US side of the border. How can a tape worth $180 suddenly have duty of $38,000?\nIt was explained to me as the Potential Value of the tape which meant AFTER a hit song was recording in it. Most recordings are total losses and the tape cant used on a new project even if properly bulk-erased. They expected me to pay on the spot $760,000 in duties. I gave up and left the tape with them. I called the artist and said we could not do the project in Canada and we went back to California. The artist came to us a few months later and the result was a minor hit, and probably barely made its production cost since the label only distributed it in Canada. I talked to an international trade lawyer about what happened and he said customs officials were wrong in Canada but they are given full latitude with no appeal so his advice was never take anything over the border that I did not mind being confiscated. Sometimes they would let it in because it was going back out in a month, but likely they sold it off and pocketed the money. The US is corrupt on a federal level but Canada is corrupt on the local level. I moved out of the US 24 years ago have a much higher quality of life than is even possible in the US, and live very cheaply. Total cost of living with a very active social and cultural life impossible to duplicate in the US which as some of the least options for culture. And my cost of living is $1500 a month, less than utilities alone for one house in California, and that is for 2 people. Last month for example I attended world class opera, ballet and symphonies 9 times, and went out to dinner, in jazz clubs or dance clubs, visited12 top museums, and it was still under $1500 for the month. A pair of tickets to the MET in NYC for lower grade performance, sets, orchestra ad theater, was $1800!! $600 for tickets to drama for 2. Here there 237 drama theaters within walking distance of my city center home, and can walk anywhere at any time of day and be safe due to VERY low crime rates. Free medical is good. I am not citizen but still I had an operation and 10 days in a vip single room for $5300 and despite my insurance I had been paying back in California $824.month, it was going to cost me out o pocket $500,000 and one day in a recovery 12 bed room, and require paid nursing attendant for 30 days. The results were great and was treated like king.\nCanadians have lost control of their government but Americas are screwed regardless, with lower than international standards for everything, with crime, corruption in Washington, extreme cost of living, no access to culture, few if any safe parks. My adopted city is not only far more beautiful than any US city, my GF can walk, alone, anywhere in a city of 7mil at any time of day through any of the 600 beautiful parks open 24/7..at 3am. There are no homeless, and 80% of those over 20yo own their home clear of debt. No college debt despite twice the % of people having degrees. The rest of the world caught up and has surpassed the US and Europe in quality of life. \n\nI have only been back to the US 5 times in 24 years and each time I am shocked by how much the entire society has declined while most of the world outside of Europe, Canada, US, UK or Australia have dramatically improved.\nEvery year since 2008 more Americans leave the US to live elsewhere than legal immigrants arrive.

However, if I had known the amount of stress, health, and financial damage that I had to endure, I wouldn't have chosen to come to Canada. I would have remained in the US or EU countries where I could achieve even more without suffering to the level I did here. \n\nMisleading immigration promotion: The government-sponsored Canadian immigration program oversells what Canada can offer. It withholds information on the cost of living, chicken-and-egg problems like Canadian work experience is required to get a job at the same level as you are in, Canadian credit history is required to rent a proper apartment, Canadian education is required to secure a high-level job, etc. \n\nHiring process: I knew the Canadian system was not ideal for immigrants over a decade ago, but it got so bad now that even the born citizens are unable to survive. The Canadian government and employers lack a basic understanding that ambitious, high-achieving people immigrate to other countries for high-level positions using proper channels. It's ridiculous to see that Canada uses a point-based system to choose highly qualified personnel to enter their country yet expects them to pursue low-paying entry-level or labor jobs just because they have brown/black skin. At first, I thought having a Canadian degree and experience might help me get high-level jobs, and I didn't think how I spoke or looked would matter when I had high credentials to show off. So, I got my masters & Ph.D. from the Univesity of Toronto, which consistently ranks #1 in Canada. I have a bachelor's from a prestigious university in Asia and had a high-competitive, well-paid federal government job in another country. Still, none of that was recognized in Canada, and I had to volunteer for over 6 months, 10 to 12 hours/day, in a research lab that led to a funded PhD program. I worked even harder during my Ph.D. with many accomplishments, like 40+ research and leadership awards, internationally recognized scientific discoveries, and innovative technologies. I checked all the above and beyond in various domains (research, teaching, leadership, business, engineering consulting, collaborations, etc.). Yet, employers couldn't see past my race, gender, age, etc., and refused to give me the opportunity at the level of my qualifications. Luckily, I managed to secure short-term work in the UK & the US, and it changed even how I see myself. I was highly respected for my credentials, given higher positions than I applied for, and paid 3-4 times more salary and benefits. Of course, bias is an integral part of every society, but my race, gender, age, etc., were not as big of an issue to begin my career at the mid-career stage in these countries as opposed to Canada. \n\nHealthcare: Access to healthcare was another big challenge for me. When I moved to Canada in 2010, due to extremely low temperatures, I developed hives all over my body, my eyes got red, and I coughed for many months. The doctor said there was nothing wrong with me and refused to give me any medication. It took us years to get a family doctor, and we got one through my personal network. In 2015/2016, I developed an autoimmune disease, and my eyeballs popped out. As of today, I did not get to see an eye specialist as they have only 1 specialist in the area, and the waiting time is for years for the first consultation. Every time the family doctor told me that I had iron deficiency, even when I insisted that they should run additional tests and they cleared, they were flagged. The doctor never diagnosed my autoimmune condition. Luckily, during my short-term work in the UK, I saw competent interns who completed my care. NHS is poorer than the medical system in Canada... they are understaffed, don't have hospital beds after surgery, or don't have stock of paper gowns, yet the staff are highly competent and caring. Within 1-2 years, they did complete diagnosis by sending me to various specialists, completed eye surgery, and even found a lifelong condition that was preventing me from realizing my full potential. Following, in the US, the doctors confirmed the diagnosis of all the conditions within 1-2 months and put me on two small pills for life. It has dramatically changed my life, and I have even more admiration for the medical profession. While in Canada, I suffered for over a decade, and every time, I was treated as a hypochondriac and never given a single prescription. \n\nQuality of life: Big cities like Toronto are mainly affected by high crime rates, overpopulation, cost of living, low employment, low salaries, etc. A few months back, there was a huge auto theft, and one of my contacts lost their Lexus car within minutes of parking. Despite being a scientist, I have no faith in politicians or individuals fixing these problems. The salaries are not increasing, but the taxes and cost of living are on the exponential growth curve. The ridiculous part is that Canada expects you to pay taxes even when you are not employed or living in Canada! I lived in London and Boston, and they offer a much higher quality of life and pay. \n\nGrowth potential: No wonder Canada, being a G7 country, falls at the bottom of the list in innovation, equal opportunities, economic growth, etc. It has a decent education system but, due to its inherent bias in the hiring process and monopoly of certain businesses, loses talented immigrants and highly qualified Canadians to the US, the UK, and EU markets. Unless there is a dramatic shift in policies, Canadians, especially new immigrants, cannot expect any positive experience in Canada except for being discriminated against and losing valuable time and money by being there.

As a Canadian, I looked into becoming an auto mechanic. Its going to take a year of school, tuition and then, in your first year, you'll make entry level wage and have to pay $3000 in tools. You might even need a truck to haul your tools around. They keep saying how they need tradespeople in Ontario, but the licensing/ apprentice process takes so long for people to transition into. Every trade is so complicated to get involved in. There is a situation where there are willing and capable people, but the admin process is too expensive and bars people who are in need of paying groceries, rent and bills. They can't find enough millrights either. Its the same problem.\n\nYou've got a surplus of willing and capable workers and employers seeking talent, but the admin process inhibits the entire process. \n\nIf I could start apprenticing on-the-job today as a mechanic or millright I would. But, I need to support family, so instead I am working readily available joe-jobs. \n\nAll trade positions will continue to be unfilled on job posting boards, while potential candidates will be busy working low pay jobs in warehouses etc. just trying to survive. Ontario is idiotic! Back in 2014 they introduced the Ontario College of Trades which only sought to take admin fees from every conceivable profession. The old bureaucratic established people in Ontario have a way of keeping everyone as peasants and minions. This is also why people are leaving for Alberta (a wise decision).

I studied in Canada back in 2010, worked in Africa for many years and I am from Africa. Currently, live in Europe, Portugal I got my residence after 2 years. I came here from Africa with my family. The quality of live is good. You have more free time to be with family, health systemn and education are free. You may pay monthly fee meal for your kids depending on your income with low income you dont pay nothing. What is true is about the economy grogth for you and family. I feel some segregation, racism is visible and very difficult to see black in very high paying job. I know many people who got nacionality but still earn minimum wage. As someone who lived in Canada, Africa and now Europe, yes Canada is way better I don't agree with USA in term of quality of life and security mainly if you plan to immigrate with your family
