Back in 2016, Trump introduced 25% tariffs on China 301-classification imports that severely damaged my business. For whatever reason, he then exempted the tariffs, but the public still assumed that they were in place. It was a perfect Trump win-win move to make the voters think that he was acting tough, while actually exempting the tariffs for us importers. Unfortunately, Biden got into office and immediately took away the exemptions and screwed us. I mention all of this in order to exemplify how nothing is as it seems when it comes to Trump. Sometimes you have to let this stuff play out before overreacting. I think that Canada made a mistake by overreacting so quickly. This will force Trump's hand to pursue the trade war, even if it was not his actual intention.

Canada has access to two of the biggest oceans in the world, they should've been trading more with the rest of the world. EU and China each consume almost as much as than the US consumes and you have direct access to their market through oceans.

Twelve days into the Trump Administration's second term and we are already at (tarrif) wars with Canada, China and Mexico. We have another 1,450 more days to go before this administration ends. God help us all ! ?

It's only a matter of time before America pushes every country right into arms of The BRICS Nations. Even Israel would abandon America once that happens because the money source would dry up in less than a couple years. BRICS now OUTGUNS America in GDP, PURCHASING POWER, AND MILITARY STRENGTH! They're are nearly 70% of the WORLD POPULATION (and growing) which means a draft is virtually GUARANTEED if ww3 erupts. Canada, Mexico, Panama, Greenland, etc... have to be asking themselves is it worth it being Americas FOOLS???

Together let’s do something about it instead of leaving. Canada isn’t a country like China where no changes can be made by its citizens. I’m an immigrant, first arrived here in Canada in 2014. Once I heard the US wants to annex us I asked myself what can I do to help prevent this. I think the quickest way is we need a stronger military. I looked up the Canadian military website and found out me as a permanent resident can also be qualified to apply. Although the compensation isn’t that great, if the US really start being unwise I will definitely apply.

The Colombian president asks for respect. Being illegal is a minor crime, the Colombian is not a criminal. That is what Colombia asked for. Trump is setting the stage for China to replace the USA as a key export partner to these tariff threatened nations. All it would take is China to accept delivery of products impacted by US tariffs at the pre-tariff price. China wants better S American commerce and these tariff threats provide the opportunity for China to swoop in and save the day. If I lead China I would be phoning every nations leader personally guaranteeing to do just that before another threat came out of Trump. While it might cost China in the short run, seeing the world wide collapse of the USA's economic influence in favour of China would serve them well.\nFor the last century the USA has learned to played reasonably well with others, shedding off most of its protectionist policies in favour of cooperation and negotiation. This made it a strong economic nation that individuals wanted to become citizens of. Nations trusted the USA, but in just a few days under Trump that century long journey to world leadership has been fully undermined.\nThe most known Statue Of Liberty quote of “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” was the old America, a much different time than today. The poem under Trump's policies should read “Take our tired, our poor, our huddled masses yearning to escape persecution”.

PREDICTION: The rise of international tariffs will ultimately uncover a huge underbelly of unemployment ironically in the USA and create a wave of an unexpected underbelly of poverty unseen by America in many years. USA will suffer in the next 4 years due to tariff wars and causing its international allies work in new relationships with its unexpected competitors such as China. The EU will learn how to live without relying on the USA - as is the same with China and other countries. America will have to self-rely on itself - causing it to recycle its own money over and over again to try and create home-grown industries that will initially be very expensive to run. \n\nCompetitive countries will strike deals with American allies and form new relationships that the USA hadn't foreseen - and the era will illustrate an international 'Us' vs US mentality. Countries will turn their back on America, knowing they can work well together than rely on the USA. \n\nThe average US citizen will be receiving tax rise after tax rise, causing more poverty within states and due to the 'xenophobic tariff mentality' - will find the middle income earner slip down to a lower grade, and ripple this effect. Medical aid will only benefit the rich while everyone else will pay for minimum service but premium for medication. \n\nThe price of food and transport will quadruple over the next 4 years, not because of the natural progression of price rise, but immediately due to tariff wars. \n\nAmericans, ultimately pay for tariffs - bullying words of 50 percent tariffs on another country means a surge in prices for everyday goods Americans take for granted. The only winner is the Government - which means it chooses what to spend on. \n\nA recession will hit hard....AGAIN -- on the USA.

And so China wins another key partner in Latin America . Seeing how the US is an unreliable economic partner, that threatens tarriffs over every little dispute, Columbia will most probably start seriously looking into establishing more reliable economic outlets, like China or even Europe for that matter. The only thing clown Trump succeeded in , was to push a crucial regional ally into the hands of a geopolitical rival of the US, sacrificing its long term geopolitical and economic influence over a single issue, not a very major one at that. Stupid, stupid , stupid. But boy is it sweet, to see the US self destructing.

No, because you deported immigrants and now you have to pay american wages. Suddenly your bulb costs $20 because GE pays minimum wage to an American. So yeah, now everything is made in America but you are homeless paying more for everything.

Trump is starting a trade war with pretty much everyone else in the world. The US economy accounts for only 15% of the world's GDP, the rest of the world represents 85%. You have to be unbelievably arrogant to think you can win a trade war with China+Europe+Canada+Australia+South-America.

This started Friday in Brazil ?? when the interior minister with police and media boarded a US plane refueling in a Brazilian city carrying returning Brazilian migrants. But what we are really cheering is the dangerous and dumb leadership of compromising OUR National Security , period .

Yesterday Trump worked to get you $5 tomatoes. 75% of farmworkers didn't show up to harvest food that stupid conservatives eat. These are stupid people. How 48 coffees are withing sight. If you were in Europe you can import the coffee that would have gone to the US. Each days more people hate America. Soon, China will control Latin America.

The US will get pretty poor if all of the other countries Trump alienates get together and stop letting all of the US companies do business are send profits home. China and Russia are cheering.

I’m not a financial expert but it strikes me that placing a tariff on every country of the world (especially major trading partners like china and Canada) will only harm the US and therefore US citizens.
