As an American, I must say we have boot-licking morons running our Government. I can't believe EVERY Republican agrees with anything that Trump says. It's like we're living in a Twilight Zone episode. I feel so bad for Pr. Zelenskyy and Ukrainians. I'm embarrassed to be American and I can't believe so many Americans were voting for this clown. That probably bothers me more than anything. Apologies to the world and our friends in Canada. JT is being too kind. Shut down your borders to the USA. Ontario....cut your electrical and energy power to the USA. Cut off all trade. I hope China does the same. Make the USA swirl down the drain in pain. I don't want to wait for 2 years to try and vote in more Democrats to put a stop Trump .Bully him back. Bullies always back down when strongly confronted.

I think Trump wants to brake Canada ,bring us to our knees and force us to give up and say ok we'll become your 51st state,and why does he want to take us over well thats easy ,he wants to take over and control are resource's And i have yet to hear why Trump says we have abused American for years,like how have we done that?

As a european I say we have to increase co-operation with canadians and put stop this insanity. Lets save what can be saved.

We are less than two months into DJT's term, and I have to say it's turning out much worse than I expected (and I thought it would be pretty bad). It is terribly depressing to see the country fail while roughly half of it's people cheer it on. We're seeing the fall of the US in real-time, and I'm not sure how we come back from this. I'm exhausted, and we're just getting started.

If I really want to make sense of all this non sense, in this 'alternative truth world', I will say that, in fact, Trump is surprisingly the best advocate for sustainable development! Because, if the tariffs have the expected consequences, trade between both your countries will decrease, meaning less trucks on the roads, meaning less fossiles fuels, less production, less consumption, meaning less emissions of CO2. Is it what Trump really wants?

I have no idea what state democracy is in now. What kills me is that before creating tariffs, not once has the Administration shown us numbers as to why? They talk about the trade deficit, but never back up what they say and then we have to put up with high inflation and prices.

You mention that Americans are 30% more expensive than Canadians but you dont mention that the US is far more unequal with a Gini coefficient of 0.41 vs 0.35 in Canada. Now there is also a known issue with using GDP data to calculate productivity and that is that in sme countries the labor of GDP is much lower than in others. But throw in safety nets and go ask Canadians if they want to change for the US system. I doubt most will. As a Canadian who is determined to thrive in whatever environment I am in, I can say becoming a carpenter has been a pretty good decision. Wages are up and I am in demand. My home is paid off and I am 39. I live in cottage country in a great little village with a beautiful wife and 3 beautiful daughters. I have traveled enough to know that I have a good thing going here. As a capable and adaptable human being, I will do well not matter where I am though.

I don't defend or condone your arguments as many of them are spot on but what i do have to say is we as humans are grossly flawed and i don't see improvement only decline. However there is still good left in this world. I believe we should treat each other with respect and judge on an individual basis as opposed to stereotyping. The people leaving Canada are older, and they have money. The ones coming are poor and compete with other poor immigrants that can't afford to leave. When I came to Canada with my parents they had to be skilled and bring with them the minimum of $10.000.00. Today the door is open everyone comes to visit finds a job that hire illegal migrants, and never leave. The company saves and no one pays taxes. The government is corrupt. Immigration, Unions even most police officers are corrupt to the core with DEI hiring Canada is in a crisis to say the least.

When people asks what it means to be Canadian, I say it means not to come here and impose your religious and cultural traditions on other Canadians who have been here for over 400 years (ya, I know some people will comment on this and say what about what the colonialists did to the indigenous people, and I’ll say ya but we conquered this land - shiity but that’s reality). If you love your culture and religions so much, why didn’t you stay in your native country. Can you imagine going to an eastern country trying to assert your own beliefs and traditions and not not honouring their culture?! Good luck with that. I tell you what, I have been saying this about the Canadian border for more than 20 years. I used to love to drive to Ontario and it was SO easy through Detroit, Niagara, etc. But the thing NO ONE is talking about is the ability to get a BOAT or using a FERRY to cross the border all the time. It's so easy it's scary. ALSO there is an area of of the New York to Maine border that is mostly forest and with minimal roads/population. Our God only knows what is going on there. I have to say, that when I drove through this area in 2013 as a woman with her dog, I was afraid. I don't scare easily, and I trust my instincts. Something's got to change.

As a Canadian..i'll say this. Our country is a bad shape right now...and the countless 'extra' people, mostly indians, are not helping. We need immigration. I am not against it. I would assume the increased legal consequences would skew the new illegal border crossings from migrants looking for work so they can raise their kids in a country with more economic oppurtunities to a higher percentage of criminals mixed in. I've had some completely institutionalized friends in Baltimore and can say that the bouncing in and out of prison/ have most exciting/chaotic situations/ brag to your friends while you pass the time locked up/ all around adrenaline rush is going to make that crowd see the conseqences as a nuicense and an exclusive challenge. I mean that’s wrong to say everybody’s fit to serve. It’s just when you’re going through surgeries like that and you’re taking hormones that are injections that are not naturally produced in your body then yeah it makes a lot of sense.
