I've lived here 6 years and can't wait to leave. Salaries are just enough to get by. I work full-time as an analyst and am looking for a minijob just to save money, which I already live quite modestly. It's easy to come across nasty unfriendly people, neighbors, service people, people in government agencies. I hate people staring in the most unfriendly manner or givng attitude for no reason other than they are nasty people. Don't get me wrong, there are nice people as well, but the bad experiences outweigh the good. Beauracracy is overbearing, personalities are underwhelming, the food scene is underwhelming, learning German is a big burden when you work a full-time job (and now I need a minijob too??). The country seems like it wants to diminish the human spirit and ambition. I definitely regret moving here. Many housing companies are over charging rent. I found out the company, Deutschewohnen, who owns my apartment was overcharging me by nearly double!! I had to go through a year long court procession to get them to lower it to the legal price which I won. And now they sent me a letter last month saying they are raising my rent, which is illegal and I have to go through ANOTHER court battle with them. Of course it is exhausting to try and find another apartment. Some people search up to a year. What a joke. And not to mention the dating scene. I've been single the entire 6 years and I'm quite an outgoing, friendly, loveable person. Dating Germans comes with own weird experiences and I refuse to give them a chance anymore, for my own mental health. If you're POC, it's not uncommon to come across strange sexualizations and general lack of understanding other's cultures. A couple years ago I was attacked by 8 men while walking home at night. I ended up in the hosopital and there was an investigation opened. The police asked me why they attacted me, which I didn't know since it was unprovoked. They just followed me for awhile, surrounded me and started beating me. The police said it was probably because I'm Asian. Meanwhile, I'm not even Asian!!! I'm Latino. ??‍♂This is the type of ignorance POC have to deal with in Germany. Also, I only have 1 German friend and all my other friends are immigrants (which I love) but this poses it's own frustrations because many people move here, then move away after a few years when they learn they can have a more fulfilling life elsewhere. So keeping long term day-to-day friends can be a challenge. The entire system is exhausting and there's not enough balance to bring joy to my life to want to stay. When I lived in NYC, an African American aquaintance had just moved there after living in Berlin for 8 years. She warned me not to move here because I will never feel I belong. I didn't listen. That was a big mistake. Germans can have Germany. I'll find my joy elsewhere. End of rant. haha

I was born in Vancouver, lived in Canada all my life, never had a good paying job but worked hard just to get a little over $500/month in CPP.. I'm a senior now and I can't afford to live in Canada. I've been travelling since I retired in 2023 and mostly housesitting internationally so that keeps my housing costs down which is a big part of living expenses.

Hi… I totally agree with just about everything you stated in all aspects of the Indian community. I’m a Canadian who happens to be living in Brampton for the past 12 years. I’ve watched Brampton go from a beautiful community to a dark dreaded place to live , and this is truly because of Indian behaviours. Mind you I have many genuinely good intelligent respectful Indian friends, but there’s the others that thinks they owe the city, province, and country. They don’t respect no one, and I mean no one. NOT EVEN THEIR OWN KIND (Indians/ Punjab). And yes as a Canadian citizen whenever I see something I do call them out on it. However; the moment you say something to them they assume that you’re cursing at them and what was ment to be a respectful comment becomes a situation where they want to argue and even get into a physical fight. Then there’s the bad, careless driving on the streets with no regards to the next person’s life. They drive like their car is the only one on the street yet always looking for someone to race with not to mention the illegal U-TURN creating major accidents. I personally experienced this when a Tractor Trailer Driver tried making a U-TURN on the city street with only 4 lanes for both direction at 4AM in the morning. This caused me to almost ran under the trailer body which would have been the end of my life. They butt into lines and interrupts as much as business conversations thinking their concerns are way more important than anyone else’s and That’s just to name a few things.\nNow on the other hand I do have VERY GOOD RESPECTFUL INDIAN FRIENDS who I will never let go of our friendship because of their genuine respectful relationship although even those close friends are now pulling themselves away from their own country people and all because of the others behaviour.\nThirdly; YES, the Canadian government invites foreign students into the country with improper sources to monitor and direct a governing body to monitor and process the activities of foreign students .\n\nI love your honesty in your stories back your video clips as proof of your country men behaviour. The healthcare system in Canada is horrible. It is almost impossible to find a good family doctor that will provide you with even decent medical care. If you need surgery in a hospital the wait is often many months in most cases. The taxes in this country are very high and will keep going up as our government debt goes up. The cost of living in this country is also very high with no end in sight. It is almost impossible for younger people to buy their own home. In a nutshell this country has gone to hell in a handbasket.

I’m sorry, but never would I move to the US for all of the reasons already given in the video. I have a good friend in Massachusetts and I keep asking him when he’s going to come home to Canada. I really think Trump is going to be President again and I think it is time for my friend and his son to come on home. I don’t even feel very comfy visiting in the US anymore…And if (when) Trump wins, and Project 2025 goes through, I don’t think it will be particularly safe for most people to be there. I am a Jamaican Canadian 42 year resident of Canada. I agree with your perspective 99.9%. Keep up the good work. Social integration requires fast track educational courses that stresses the importance of savvy customer relation procedures, gestures and practices. They must see it as not imposing but the norm in accommodating diversity in a multicultural city. Once they perceive the integrality and its inextricable component in smoothly assimilating, they will see the inevitable need to compartmentalize as this helps them to fit into their new welcoming family. Be reminded, in Canada, out of many, one family.

Thanks so much for this video! I admire the hard working and awesome culture of most people I have met who have come to Canada from India! We definitely needed help in filling in the deficit of employees that are needed in Canada! It is a shame that ALL political parties did not solve the housing issue which we knew was going to be a problem, many decades ago, even well before the Harper government! This is not rocket surgery! LOL\nIn Northern Ontario we have a LOT of Indian immigrants. All the ones I have met are very well educated even though they are working in the service industries! I know several Indian Canadians who are Doctors, Teachers and Engineers! Almost all of my experiences have been positive! Of course it is human nature to always highlight issues, for example: I caught one group of people throwing garbage in a parking lot, and immediately notified them that they had dropped something, and even followed them with the garbage. One of the group stated, it was just trash. I told him there was a garbage can right over there, and I just KNEW that they did not want to throw it just lose on the ground, and wanted to help keep our town clean. They said sorry and politely picked it up and placed it in the garbage can. Hopefully lesson learned! I politely and respectfully spoke out, to a good resolution.\nMy parents were immigrants from war-torn Germany. I know ALL about prejudice for new immigrants. Our parents being German-Canadian at a time right after WW2, where MOST Canadians had an Uncle, a Father, a Grandfather or someone they knew who had fought and some died because of Germans! I've been experiencing so much discrimination here, both in in-person situations and systemic. Beyond what's said in the video, there is also an issue that it's so alienating. You can't really make friends with the locals, and then, after work, there is no cultural offer either. For example, I just can't go to the cinema in German, because everything is with German dubbing. So, you feel lonely and bored. The only thing that keeps me here is the good quality of life and good healthcare compared to some other EU countries where I lived. But now, that Germany closed its nuclear power plants and can't benefit from the cheap gas from Russia, I guess the economy will go gradually down, and so will the quality of life. And that will mean I will have no reason at all to stay.

Canada is one of the best countries, I agree there are few downfalls, but on the other hand you can’t even in judge a book by just looking at it’s cover. If you are well educated, this country is the best to live in. Canada has already made their immigration policies stern, and are not welcoming everyone now. Do you think Indian politicians are doing good to keep India safe according to their duties? Don’t you think India has a drug problem too? Apply for a visa and come here, you’ll see many people settled, enjoying their life here. People have to face struggles when you move to a new country, it takes time. Canada in one of the most diverse country, go to a school here, they celebrate and acknowledge different cultures and teach about them. I think Indian are well settled and living luxurious life here.

I have done part of my education in Germany with very nice professors. I improved my German language skills to C1 level and still keep learning it. I have been working in some of the most well-known German companies some of which used to be part of Fortune 500. I am very grateful for the opportunity that I was given both at university and work places and the support I got from some of my good managers at the beginnning of my career. However, I should say on a daily basis you will face racist comments and discrimination. Despite high tax that I am paying and doing my best to be useful for the society, at work place you hear a lot of racist comments. When you go out, you can see you are not welcome in the society, and that is not only my problem. At both university and work, international people are together and Germans are within themselves, and you are not welcome being there. Here in Germany this phenomenon is called Parallelgeselschaften or parallel societies. Yes, you see people from all around the world, but it doesn't mean you are in an international place, all the expats are within themselves. The society is not open to accept them. As a specialist, you can be much happier living in an English-speaking country which is tolerant and allows you to be part of the society. I should say however, I have had also nice German colleagues who were really open-minded and truely have an international mindset and separate themselves from the historic racist mindset. Putting this comment here, I am ready for racist comments coming towards me. Go ahead.
