I have moved around the US quite a bit (I've lived in every time zone except Mountain, including Hawaii). Moving to a totally different place is always exciting to me. Even if you eventually find that it is not where you want to stay forever, it is worth the experiences, and the growth you get from having to learn new things. If you are considering the US, some of the things you don't like about Canada, is probably true here as well. It seems like you can probably make more money down here, but the cost of living is still expensive here, and many, many Americans also live paycheck to paycheck. I wish the best for you.

I had my last straw over four years ago when I left my job in Canada.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is so real. Prayers your move goes smoothly! I have many friends who are Muslim and they tell me how hard it is to live their faith in Canada. I am sad that Canada has such anti-Muslim sentiment. I respect your decisions. What could be more honorable than making sure your children grow up in safety??? I wish I could say it is not happening in my country (USA), but it does. And our government is the best government money can buy (ie corruption).

Its best all Muslim in Canada should be taking that same road. Best to go to a Muslim country where freedom to worship, follow religious customs and rules are not debated or talked about, freedom is there. Well good luck if you wish to live in Vancouver! Nowadays housing and basic commodities are high and on top of it work pay is so low. Better of in some province of canada but if you choose to live in the city better be ready.

I moved from a third world country 3 years ago and planning to move back because somehow as crazy as it sounds Canada seems like a downgrade. No matter how Poor I was in South America I was always able to afford rent and groceries. Here, it’s one or the other.

I moved to Las Vegas 20 years ago. I was born in Canada, served in the Canadian Forces and loved Canada. But after living in America for 20 years I have ZERO regrets. Hallelujah

Suggestions to international students: Never listen to this lady. University of Toronto is the most prestigious (and the best) University in Canada. It's ranked #18. If you want to study in a field that actually requires above average IQ, Toronto should be on top of the list. She hasn't seen NY or LA and how sh!tty is there compared to Toronto.

I am living in GTA since 1993. Initially I had been a factory first 11 years. Ever since i did not get job based on my skills, it was far big difference.\nLater in 2001 i started to work in IT Industry, after this10 years this industry started to decline.\nCurrently i do still find a job, but that is like a contingent worker and now i work 6 months in a year. My kids have grown up, and other than a miracle, there is nothing of a skill that can you depend upon.\nMoreover Canada has failed sense a difference between faithful citizenship and rogue communities. So rogue communities are have 2 jobs (cheat fully) and there are some people i know are working on 3 jobs absolutely have less real skills than me.

I don't know why we hate WEST when once we are done with all of our needs. Some of us dislike them, but in our prayers, we beg to God for grant of Canadian or American or British Visa. Moreover, on the contrast, we defy some of their policies. Of course, we aren't living in Islamic country. We're living in Canada. Everything is not same everywhere in every country. If I started complaining that Islam was homophobic or arguing about the hijab that would not have gone well for me.\n\nI think in the West we need to start being much more explicit about our values - such as freedom of speech - and not lose them down to a woke fear of offending minority groups.

Inflation has hit worldwide. Prices surged after COVID with no signs of going down and now we are at a point that we've been anchored to these prices. Sometimes I dissuade myself from the occasional treat. I thought Popeye's was halal in Canada. While I now live in a state with 100,000+ Muslim population, I wish there were a lot more halal eatery options. This is a stark contrast from where I was living in Long Island, New York, where there were close to 30 halal eateries in a 3-mile radius. New York City has now permitted the azaan to be broadcasted over loudspeaker for every week jumu'ah and during Ramazan every maghrib as well. Even with all the halal options and large Muslim neighborhoods, NYC has its own challenges. A designated shoes-off place of worship for all faiths in establishments would be nice, be it malls, superstores, or airports.

You seem like a very pleasant couple who may be making the right decision to move to a country where you feel more comfortable. The Middle East is an obvious choice and I hope you are very happy wherever you settle. Canada will be the poorer without you. You speak of hate crimes against Muslims, which is obviously despicable, yet there seem to be many such crimes perpetrated by people of your Faith against others who are not believers in Islam - the massacre of Christians in Nigeria is one example.
