From this issue alone, I come to understanding that Canadian government is quite reactive to situations. Aren't they supposed to foresee the housing and cost of living crisis and put the cap way before it's become the issue? I agree that there are benefits of immigration for Canada but uncontrollable migrations only makes Canada worse.

so what if instead of sending them to over populated majors cities.... when they immigrate, they go to under populated areas...... to help build that economy up and build that part of Canada up. build schools and grow them in places where we would like development to happen. 11k of people to a under developed area that needs a economy boots / help will go along way and give the major populated areas time to grow their infrastructure to eventually allow larger immigration to happen thus growing population and economy even further. just a idea from a citizen who doesn't matter nor does his opinion. the smart people are the ones in charge allowing this situation to unfold. they are the smart ones

Shocking to watch this video. 20 years my family and I had an enjoyable stay in Vancouver especially the Rocky mountain trip. Beautiful scenery and I was thinking of migrating to Canada, Vancouver. \n\nRecently I heard horrible stories of racism and anti Chinese. Canada economy now is bad and no safety staying there. High taxes, rising crime rates and not much opportunities for work or business in Vancouver. Within 20 yrs Vancouver was once a beautiful, safe place became a rundown crime infested place.

Why can't Canada just build more houses? Canada has plenty of lumber. If Canada just start building 10 million low-cost houses, the overall housing prices will drop through the floor.

Went back to Punjab India first time after 28 years in 2002. I felt at home soon as I got out of the Airport. Since then I've never felt Canada as my home and what makes it worse is that overall Canada is spiraling in a downward direction. The medical system, the immigration system, the housing affordability, the future of our children and grandchildren, to promote and force children into lgbtq community and on and on is just getting worse. Hopefully I'll be out of here in the next two years. Thank you again and very best of luck. You made the right decision!

The bigger problem is Canada needs foreign labor force in order to grow but it’s not possible because Canada is a socialist country where everything is controlled by the State, provinces or even worse by professional associations that don’t allow foreign professional to work in Canada.

Yes, Canada is accepting far too many students at this time. Many of those students are being scammed in their own country into believing that they will be attending legitimate schools but they are being lied to. Those students arrive here with no available housing, no school to attend and no jobs to be found!

Nobody tells you to come to Canada. It is everyone's personal choice.

I live in Toronto. Everything you talk about in Vancouver applies equally to here. Toronto has become, under socialism, the most expensive outdoor toilet in Canada. And our taxes are going up 16.5%, and mayor and city council have voted themselves a similar salary increase.

Canada is attracting the worst kind of international students, poorly educated, poor civic sense, rural men from Northern India esp Punjab. I said this many years ago, to my parents, you're going to see a collapse in social cohesion and we are seeing it in real time. This is having a disastrous effect on health care too, my father waited for 9 hours to get a scan, he lives with me now in the US and it took him 45 minutes to get a scan!!!

In Canada Provincial Government is so corrupt. Some of the councelors or their family own these schools. They purposfully in take student who are not even qualified. They work hand in hand with embassies around the world. Thats why in certain provinces you see more indian students and some other province you see more african students. I lived in Canada for over 20 long suffering cold years. My rent in 1982 in Kamloops for a large two bedroom appartment was 105 bucks a month. Then when I moved back to Toronto and got an apartment right on Young at Grosvenor our rent shot up to a tough 620 bucks a month (all utilities included) but I was making a lot of money so it seemed like the good life. I wonder how expensive that luxury high rise is today? Probably about $4500 per month would be my guess. Canadians don't like to talk of the negatives in Toronto, but I feel really sorry for some of my family still there. My mother in law broke her back. All they could do is give her pain killers for the four months before she could get penciled in for surgery. And that was before it all went to hell. It's nice to see so many shots of places that were once so much a part of my life, but in all honesty moving to the States was the best thing I ever did. It was in fact like an escape from madness. Now similar crazyness is here, even on the South East coast of the US. Time to look for another escape. Any suggestions?\nOh, and my friends cousin got murdered in the Jane and Finch area years ago. Just a guy with a gun that nobody is supposed to have - shot him in the chin.

We need young educated people in Canada. Immigration built this country. Building new homes gives all kind of trade jobs.

The huge wave of immigration is making the Bank of Canada to keep on increasing interest rates to fight inflation. Since the demand for commodities by the large swathes of new immigrants far outstrips what Canada can supply. The roads and highways are overcrowded, the emergency waiting time in hospitals is over 8hrs since the medical infrastructure is not able to cope with the demand by the huge population.

I wonder how many Canadians are fleeing Canada….

And since I've left, every time I hear or see news about Canada, or talk to family there, I just shake my head. Then I go enjoy my palms trees.

Don' know when you were growing up, but public transportation in the last 10 years got a lot worse. In theory you're connected and the network is there, but delays and problems make using it very hard. Of course, it might be better connected than Canada ot the US but I mean look at the size of Germany, it's way easier to connect a country, which is comparatively small,
