Donald clearly is ahead of the rest of us in the fight against climate change, understanding as he does that a painful recession will lead to a deep reduction in the production of greenhouse gases as people cut back on their spending. If only we could see it as clearly as he does. Surely he will make his intentions clear by undertaking a farsighted austerity program, limiting his flights to Mar A Lago for golf outings.

Canada has known for decades that we have put too many eggs in one basket - selling our resources primarily to the USA. We've had tariffs before and worked with them. Yet we still keep selling to the USA. This time is different. In conjunction with the tariffs, we have an American administration that is flat out insulting Canada. Saying we wouldn't exist economically if it wasn't for the USA. It's at a time when the USA won't promise not to use military force to annex land (Greenland) from a decades old ally. A time when clearly Putin is calling in his chips for whatever he has over Donald Trump. Canadians have had enough. We are directing our governments, provincial and federal, to finally, finally break from the north-south trade links. We need to establish stronger east-west trade links. The resources we have are wanted by many countries if the USA does not want them. It does mean much work within Canada. We need to get our AB-BC pipeline finished as well as the new sea terminal so we can ship our crude oil and natural gas to Japan and if need be, to China. We finally need to get out pipeline to the Atlantic coast finished so we can supply the UK and EU with our products. We need to double our rail capacity for shipping potash, uranium, rare minerals to Asia or Europe. Just as Trump hopes for a golden age of American companies coming home and building new plants in the USA, this will be a golden decade for Canada to create transportation corridors to get our resources to other buyers. America will have to look elsewhere for his raw materials. And we all know what that is - RUSSIA. They've already offered their rare minerals and crude oil. This is all clearly a well thought out scenario from the people working behind Trump to dismiss America's allies and trading partners - have us turn against the USA - as the excuse to open the door to Russian imports into the USA.

It's no trade war, it's protectionnism. Something you should have done way before in your 10-year tenure. Also, he's not allying Putin, he's negociating on behalf of world peace. This election wasn't about republicans or democrats or independents. This election was about humanity and global security. American's ignored the writing on the wall for their own singular wants/opinions. The majority of Trumpers claim to be 'Christians'. Christians voting for a man who is a bully, abuser, liar, predator, monger of power, impedes freedom of press and speech and aligns himself with a dictator. He pardoned violent offenders and called them patriotic, spouts false information, obstructs investigations, has numerous felony charges against him and has now made enemies with our allies. Shall I go on? That's not Christian. Even if you aren't Christian...that's not what America stands for. All for what...eggs? Guns? Cheaper groceries? Or because your need for hating a small group of people out weighs global peace. Or is it because you are so short sighted that you can't even see the valuable contribution that non American born people provide this country. Yes, Biden fell asleep at the wheel. Yet many of you still believed the better choice was a psychopath. This election was important. We failed as a country by putting this man in office. No matter what party you align with, we failed. Yes, I want cheaper eggs. Yes, I really need cheaper groceries. But not over the safety of the globe. Not over the lives of the people and children being killed in an unprovoked war. Not over the safety of Europe. Not over ripping off our closest and favorite country that borders us. Not over losing our democracy and our allies. I stand with Ukraine, Canada, Mexico and Europe and the Gulf of Mexico. You should ask yourself what you really stand for.

I think that Trump is either gone completely mad or he has turned traitor to America. As an Australian I stand completely in solidarity with Canada but really worry about our reliance on the US. If Trump has no loyalty to his neighboring allies , what chance do we have of him supporting us? I am very glad that important people are finally standing up to this bully.

I'm doing ongoing research to cease any spend on any US product or service. I'm buying software from Europe, using Posteo for email, deGoogling this year and vastly reducing Youtube. I trace all groceries to eliminate anything US sourced and I now check that products are Mexican and Canadian as much as I'm able and they are supplying. I've stopped planning trips to LA and NYC, I might resume if American voters ever have the good sense to vote en masse against obviously fascist plans and personalities. I've holidayed in Mexico three times and would visit Canada and Europe in future. US is not safe for everyone any longer, not even its citizens and looks to be getting increasingly insecure and offering prosperity only to the already mega rich through crooked policies and agencies. Every week or two I double check the facts on groceries and online products/services to make sure I'm not accidentally buying American. The election was so compromised in November I'm glad people are realising the only action we can take is with our wallets from not logging in to 'big tech' to buying bread and apples etc.

A message to Trudeau. Put an export tax on the Oil and Electricity sold to the United States. Open up new European Markets for Oil and Natural Gas product and sell directly to Europe and Japanese markets. China needs oil, there is plenty of market around the world for our products. The Tariff's imposed by Trump is only going to make product to the US more expensive for their own citizens, and with Tariff's on all American imports, if they can't make it, or they don't have the raw materials to make it themselves, they will have to pay more. It is not necessary to impose Tariff's on USA Products to penalize Canadians, but Canadians will find new markets to replace the US, and we won't even notice it happened. We have alternatives. The southern islands are great vacation locations, and with the weather disasters they have suffered over the past few years, they could use the tourist support to help rebuild, and, their people are friendly and don't carry guns.

As an American, I've been trying to work out in Alberta as a Pipe Insulator for over five years with no response, but you guys let in other foreign nations. Trump has fired Apolitical Generals and Chiefs of staff in the Military, JAG and prosecutor's who weed out fraud or corruption, even involving Trump's actions. Trump doesn't want stopped, if he wants to change the Constitution or demand the Military to arrest citizens. He's Dismantled checks and balances, and evades the Rule of Law. Trump stopped US aid to keep Ukraine's Power Grid functioning, so people hospitalized wouldn't freeze to death. We obviously have a Russian Asset running the Oval office. It only took HITLER 53 day's to become a Dictator. You had better speak up quickly, Republicans and Democrats or you are going to lose your FREEDOMS.

Trudeau is just hurting his own people, but I guess thats nothing new at this point. Candadian inflation will go up and America will not be greatly effected. As a US citizen who didn't vote for the president (Trump) we have who is corrupt, self- serving and would have gone to prison if he had not been voted as president. I too am appalled at what he and his minions have done already. \nI understand what Canada has to do to protect itself. I support Canada.I feel for the Canadian people. Dear dear people of Canada if any of you read any of these comments I want you to know that there are A LOT of us who are ABSOLUTELY NOT happy, about anything that this man\n who has been elected president, is doing. There are some of us who had definitely considered asking Canada for a dual citizenship. In a best case scenario, DJT will rescind the tariffs on Canadian goods. In the worst case, we get even poorer. If this happened after Trump became president the first time, the economy was strong from 4 years of Obama's presidency. Then COVID happened, and for alot of folks here, they haven't recovered financially. Savings and retirement plans are gone. Rent is higher, for many it takes over 50% of their income. So in this emergency time, there's nothing to fall back on. Oh and DOGE will cut SNAP benefits, I'm sure. That's food stamps, meant for the people struggling. It's becoming more and more of Americans. \nAm I depressed? No, I lived through Reagan's presidency. I'm cautious about life, my job, commuting to work, putting food on the table. I'm gonna try growing veggies. I already eat 75% of my meals at home or taken from home-cooked meals. I'm saving as best I can.

I love Canadians. They are sweet, kind, funny, hard working people. I have worked with them plenty. I apologize to our Northern neighbor, and I am so, so sorry this ugliness is being thrown at you. I did not vote for it and never have supported the rapist, felon. Trudeau is an example of a good, stable (Genius...ha ha) leader, who is speaking clearly with adult vocabulary, who is not out to injure anyone yet who is standing up strong for his own people. As an American who not unlike more than half of this country believe this president and his administration are going down a very dangerous path. It feels like a runaway train, why can't we stop it, why can't we remove him, the impending damage that is about to take place seems obvious. I would not want to live down there with the pervasive American attitude. I thought my American friends were lovely people, but then we went to a restaurant together. I was flabberghasted by how they ALL spoke down to the waitress, as if she was beneath them. You can pick out the American tourists here, by how they talk to service people. I wish I could say this was a stereotype, but i live in a tourist town and see it every day.
