I recall a date now known universally as 9-11. Aircraft bound for USA landing in my home province because US airspace was shut down. 17 large aircraft parked in St. John's (where I live), and 27 parked in Gander (much smaller town, but has a big airport). I've lost track of whatever other aircraft had to find a home and a home for their passengers. Today, over two decades later, this is a stain on the US executive. Not Americans, the executive office. Congress took a powder. The executive office should represent Americans, but it doesn't. I feel sorry for the American citizens who will suffer.

Trump stated during his campaign that this was coming. This is on the American voters. You wanted this, now you've got it. Not sure how you thought that higher prices for everything would be a win for you, but here you go...

This is not going to hurt America. Trudeau is a loser. Didn't he resign? This will cripple Canada's economy, it will not effect the US. You think Canada is in a good place now?... Your crazy. Canada f'd around and now they are going to find out.

As for Ukrainian, this is some kind of bad dream. Why is everything that the enemies of the West and especially the US, that is, authoritarian Russia and China, now doing Trump? Russia has not known for more than half a century what else to do to weaken the West and destroy it, and here Trump is destroying everything from the inside. I love Canada. Trudeau is just doing what he has to do. I harbor no ill will for Canada or the tariffs they will impose on us. Is it possible that this is all about access to critical minerals - which Canada and Ukraine hav in abundance. America has form in creating a pretence to go to war to protect access to cheap oil. But in the past these wars were against arab nations and so the West found it easy to 'other' and accept the need for war. Now America under Trump is hoping to secure critical minerals (modern day oil) - but because they are allies he cant start an outright war. So hes doing it through trade. This is old form for America. When looked through this lense is not so difficult to understand. The big question is will the west allow him to bully western allies - democracies to be bullied into submission?

Canada has NO product that we Americans cannot replace with an American made one in a matter of months. Fertilizer is an easy one, Our farmers just need to go back to using natural animal/yuman waste which is ecactly what used to be done. It even saves farmers billions $ because they create a use for waste they now pay to have to process for removal. Lumber and products are also an easy fix. We Americans have millions of acres of timber that actually NEEDS regular harvest to reduce the forest fires that plague us yearly. The list goes on, and not a single item cannot be MADE IN AMERICA that we currently get from Canada.

Remind me again why Trudeau was forced to resign? Even NY Times investigative journalists recently explained how NAFTA worked against US interests and killed so much of our industry decades ago; almost the opposite of what was intended. Trade needs to be reformed across the board. It's also insulting the way other world leaders are now speaking directly to the American Public and lying to them as if they have our best interest in mind. World leaders are elected to defend the interests of their own people, many times they just look out for their own personal interest, but they are definitely not looking out for American interest. It is up to us. The world stage is a complicated transaction of this for that. That's life. Have you all forgot playing United Nations in high school? We need a leader like this! There is no legitimate reason for the tariffs. I now believe Trumps goal is to annex Canada. At first, I thought it was a joke, but not anymore. Stand with Canada, Ukraine and Mexico!

Its a grand spectacle to see him speak. At just about the time other circumstances are turning an unknown corner Canada,yes Canada has now spoken up about something credible and concerning. When you ALREADY have tariffs in place against the US you cannot claim Trump is starting a trade war. You started it. Now we have a POTUS with the sand to stand up for us not the world. I used to think that the idea that Trump is a Russian asset was just a conspiracy theory.
