Thank you, Canada! As an American, I am appalled at the hellmouth this administration that I did not vote for has dragged my country into. Nothing I see suggests to me that the people we've entrusted with enforcing our laws and our constitution will come through for us against this coup that has broken with democracy and simple decency. I love Canada. Trudeau is just doing what he has to do. I harbor no ill will for Canada or the tariffs they will impose on us. I’m a Canadian and no fan of Prime Minister Trudeau. It’s unfortunate the best speech he ever gave was after he resigned as Prime Minister. What he has said in this speech is absolutely true, despite the fact, I think Trump is doing some good things for the USA. This Terrif war with your neighbour is stupid. Unfortunately for us in Canada our Prime Minister has not given us the tools and freedom to grow economically and prosper the way we should have. Canadians should be living like Kings, but unfortunately are living paycheque to paycheque because of the stranglehold that our Prime Minister has put on businesses and its citizens. Now Canada has very little leverage, I believe to fight this Terrif war. Canada has become a pure Cradic nightmare, like the previous administration in the United States were overtaxed over regulated and spend money like drunken sailors on stupid things that don’t help us grow and prosper.

Imagine if Trudeau announced that he would be pausing the carbon tax on the Canadian people to help offset some of the costs imposed on us by the United States. Do I respect that he is standing up for Canadians...Yes! Is Donald foolish in creating a trade dispute between his closest friends and Allies...Yes! Who's going to suffer....everyone! Turn off the lights in America! It can be done….Canada provides electricity to most of northern America. Every crisis in America has been helped by Canadians. Ok I need some help understanding this. If it’s a dumb idea for the US then why isn’t it a dumb idea for Canada too? As I understand it, the US tariffs mean things imported from Canada get a few slapped on top and that is paid by Americans, to discourage them from buying Canadians things. Why wouldn’t Canada continue importing US things as before and not put extra fees on top, so they don’t have to find new suppliers and cause disruption? Then it is just America punching itself in the face not both of them.

I’m am Ukrainian Canadian and over the last few days I see how the new US government’s policy ruining everything we all believe in so dearly: democracy, friendship, helping shoulder to those who needs support against the bloody dictators, and firing thousands of people without cause who provided cybersecurity, guarded fairness of your elections… all being flashed down the toilet. And I watch it being replaced with bulling those who is bleeding, stabbing the friends and neighbors, singing praise to the war criminals charged for crimes against humanity with unlawful deportation and transfer of 20,000 Ukrainian children into russia. Children?! And I want to ask you a question: will you be a silent bystander watching the world plummet into the hatred, redivisions of borders and the rule of heartless convicted “deal makers”? I think I know who he made the deal with... And to those who voted for him: do you still believe this will lead you and your country to greatness?? One single fact that both Moscow and Beijing celebrate watching what’s happening should raise your eyebrows and question your decision to bring this man into power. Instead of making America great again the fight for saving America just began. God help you and all of us!

As a Canadian I’m still not clear on how counter tariffs help Canadians? Won’t this just make things more expensive for us? Shouldn’t we just realign our allies for imports/exports? Can someone help me out here? Don’t tell me it’s just because we need to respond in kind so not to be ‘bullied’. You’ll need to do better than that. Yes this move does look like it could be connected to Putin. If Canada financially struggle then they can't help if needed with the war in Ukraine which is a plus for Putin.
