I understand I don't need an LMIA for my PR application because I was exempt on an open work permit and I've worked with my employer for over a year. Is this true? Should I submit my application without an LMIA? Secondly, once I am in the express entry pool, I can apply to PNP and update my express entry profile once I receive the PNP right?

Sounds like you're a immigrant yourself, there is like no racism at all, it's more like if you're a immigrant or your someone of a different culture you associate people having a problem with how you're doing things as if it's to do with your race and not your culture. When you relocate to a new country you are supposed to adopt the new culture. A Canadian finds it insulting for immigrants to come to a country and not try to integrate and be part of it. It's ignorant to come to another country and not respect their way and how they do things. Whether you like it or not there is a Canadian way and you need to do it when you come here. You do not come here and act like you do in your country you came from it's not the same thing. You definitely don't come to Canada and preach that there's racism it's not in our vocabulary you need to get it through your head. As well stereotypes will be created because there are stereotypes with certain races that come to a country thinking they continue acting as they do in their country in the new country they move to. It's stereotypical and it's expected and should be expected if people coming to a country not respecting that country's values. Nobody wants people going to their country acting like they do in the country they came from. And if the Immigrant can't get used to how things work here than they don't belong in the country they need to go to the country that is a home for them. My wife was prescribed something by her doctor. She went to her pharmacist to fill the prescription. I agree that it is boring, cold, expensive, high tax high services, I mean people didn’t work for a year and got paid plenty for nothing. Taxes are incremental based on income as they should be. Coming from a major Latin American city, you have no idea what it is to live under fear of assault or harm at any moment, having corrupt politicians, police, and people in general. You are privileged having been born here because it is much easier to make a living, with good laws, you should go to places where people drink on the streets and pee and shit everywhere. I’m sure there are better places in the world but you will never feel like at home, and each place will have it’s own difficulties. I don’t think we all need to live in the same place but don’t believe that you are able to move to any place in the world if you weren’t Canadian.

After speaking with countless immigrants in my area over the 12 years in Halifax, I have met so many perfectly qualified people even from the UK with English who couldn't work in their field without more credentials. Many I know left and are leaving. Plus, we need more doctors yet they make it so hard for newcomers. I can agree with these comments if your not American, growing up we had all that interaction with family, friends and neighbors. Life n times have changed in America due to gun violence, especially in large cities. Socializing is different in every state in America and in every country. I can understand how if your not accustomed to our ways of life even today, that you would prefer your ways of living back in your hometown and your Country. If you live in a big City in America and moved there from a smaller town in America, you will be feeling some loneliness, that's normal to us in America. If your American then you adjust to making n meeting new people, that hasn't been so easy with the pandemic for anyone. To compare our homes in one community from another or even from another country, is just criticism. We don't have a specific way of living, as far as our homes are constructed. This is how as American's we have always lived, small homes, large homes, big cities, small towns. Since the pandemic we do find ourselves spending more time inside due to no fault of our own. We do have different ways of living but so do other countries which we do enjoy when we visit. If you want to learn more about America and our lifestyles and history, you should do that. Every Country has it's government rules n law's and we try to abide by them, that's what makes our Country n Our Nation Great, that's also why many people come here to visit or work and study. Loneliness can be anywhere, depending on the person you are and reaching out to make new friends or just acquaintances is important. To me, the problem is threefold. a) Toronto and Ontario in general - and perhaps the whole of Canada - are accepting way more immigrants than they have quality jobs for. If you need taxi drivers and plumbers, maybe this experience should be valued way higher than education as part of the existing immigration programs (which is not the case). At least then potential immigrants know this before they come and get stuck in low-paying or relatively OK-paying but repetitive and demoralizing jobs with debts and mortgages that become a trap preventing them from leaving. It's also partially on immigrants themselves who come to Toronto to only find out there's 100 people competing for one spot and that you need to be exceptional - or connected through your ethnic network - to work regular white-collar jobs. b) The official bipartisan policy of non-integration. The naive expectation that having people live in ethnic enclaves will somehow make the overall culture richer is not what happens: instead, people tend to stick to their own communities and the common culture thus gets eroded and limited to economic and financial matters. This makes some cities feel like one large business with everyone networking 24/7 instead of socializing normally. And arguably, having the right culture / social life is what motivates already successful people move in the first place. So when they come and they find out there's nothing but money talk and hustling, they leave (if they're smart). Quebec is doing better in that regard, but then Quebec is not really Canada and it's been pressured to cave in to the same money-centred, uncultured and disconnected society by the feds for decades now. The States is smarter in that it actually makes sure to integrate its immigrants (and let's be honest, many immigrants like being part of a new culture if it fits them) c) Treating real estate as an investment and not as a basic necessity (as Japan or some Nordic countries do, for example). That coupled with a lot of Asian money being laundered in Canada through immigration channels and private equity firms buying whole apartment blocks for rental purposes has led to the highest housing price increase in all of the developed world in the past 20 years or so. The median price of a condo in Toronto is higher than in New York despite the massive gap in salaries and the fact that New York is one of the most expensive cities in the world to begin with. Some draconian measures are needed here to prevent foreign - or even out-of-province ownership -, second property ownership and corporate ownership for renting purposes.

I took my Mother home out of a senior home and cancelled home care as they never showed up on time. Would they leave there parent in a urine soaked brief for 5 hours as that is how late they were. I had to quit my job to take care of her. I myself am disabled with a spinal injure. The worst part of “Home Care workers” is that they wanted me to call in and cancel so they got paid. This statement gave from the Home Care nurse in charge of these immigrants working here. Seven of my friends, who are educated health care workers, which they themselves paid for, not paid my our government. They can’t get a job. The last job I applied for and they ask you status I put that I am a Canadian refugee in my own country. \nPretty sad when on Remembrance Day you have these woke individuals begging for money to help refugees. They should be ashamed of themselves for this disgusting action as this is a time to remember the men and women who fought for our freedom. Trudeau is a total embarrassment to all Canadians. He brings in more refugees rather than helping Veterans and homeless Canadians.

Dental work in Cuba , I have been to Cuba it is dirty , a person that I know had to come back to Canada they went to a Cuban dentist and ended up with an infection . Canada is what you make of it. You can arrive rich and end up poor and you can arrive poor and end up rich. In between that, you can have a great life that balances your needs. I’ve seen immigrants succeed simply because they see the opportunity in front of them . They worked hard in their own counties to stay just above the poverty line ,but when they apply that same effort here it pays off ten times greater. I feel that compared to a lot of immigrants, natural born Canadians come across as spoiled and a little lazy…we are. We haven’t had to struggle the same way someone from a poorer country might have. I’ve talked to people who’ve worked ten to twelve hours a day just to stay afloat. If you did that here you could make plenty of money to live and have some left over. As far as owning a house goes,yes it’s expensive . I feel that homeownership in any country is relatively expensive. Here is a tip; use that soaring home prices to your advantage. Houses are expensive but you can make a lot of money buying and selling. I recommend putting together a buyers group and share the house for a few years, then sell at a profit, buy a bigger house or two smaller houses.try to buy the worst house in the best neighbourhood and fix it up slowly . That house could double in value in five or six years in the Toronto market. This is nothing new of course ,the people from India and China seem to do this a lot here ,it drives up prices and profits. On the downside to this ,you are now part of the problem. As the housing prices are driven up the non wealthy can no longer afford to own a house . They are at the mercy of high rents with no rewards of ownership. They are caught in a cycle of hard work and (relative)poverty. This could also be you if you can’t keep up the house payments and are forced to rent.\nHow well you speak English is important but your native language is also useful here because Canada is half immigrants . As a Canadian that speaks only english (Irish descent)I have to say to all newcomers that I’m very impressed that you have learned a new language and that you may even speak more than two! Don’t be embarrassed about your abilities . I find that in my experience , Canadians do not look down on people just because they don’t know English. In fact ,I’ve known people that have lived here for decades and still know very little English. They are comfortable in their communities and they function just fine. Learn as much English as suits your needs and be proud of any gains you make.\nOutside of Toronto are other cities that you might consider when looking at southern Ontario.From my experience,most are generally the same, just not as big . There are large immigrant communities in London Ontario, Hamilton and just outside of Toronto where housing is just a little bit less expensive but the commute to work is probably longer. This is just my opinion but in the small towns there are less people of colour , (which is what people of no colour call everyone else . I wonder if I’m called a person of no colour in some other culture ? LoL ). That might make it harder for you to feel integrated ,if that’s what you want. I’m not saying that people from other cultures can’t make it in a small town , I’m just saying that it’s definitely not Toronto . Here, people of any nationality can feel like they have a place where they can belong . It seems that no matter where you are from ,there is a community already here that’s set up restaurants and stores and clothing shops and newcomer support systems. And if your from Portugal or China or India or Africa or the Middle East, there are large groups of your kin here that have established roots for generations and you probably know this already.\nToronto means meeting place and that becomes evident quickly. I was born here and it’s one of the things I love the most about my city. I’m not going to say that there isn’t systemic racism here ,the people of no colour still kind of keep the top position , but as we become a minority in a decade or so ,I hope that will shift to a broader spectrum. It’s certainly happening already. One good thing is that the police department tries to hire people of colour so that racialism may play a smaller role. We’re getting used to seeing our politicians more and more reflect their constituents.\nI have to talk about the weather. Because I’m from here I’m used to the extremes of minus thirty and plus thirty . Eventually you get used to it (somewhat). Dressing in the right clothes is important. Summer is easy , but winter is different. It’s trying to kill you. Spend the most that you can afford on winter cloths . If you can afford a quality parka you should get one. The hood can be drawn around the face and stay out of the wind.\nIf not ,think of layers with a outer layer that blocks the wind. We have things called long Johns that are basically full length thick cotton or nylon pants that go on under your pants and a pair of extra thick socks. Buy your boots to fit your thick socks. Try to get the best boots you can afford ,it’s something that you might spend a little extra for but never regret.\nAll in all we are a fairly organized and peaceful society. Most people are friendly and will give you a chance . We have a good social safety net here and you don’t have to be homeless or starving if you don’t want to. There are people and organizations set up to help ,that truly try to get people back on their feet. It’s a good investment that pays off in ways that matter for the quality of life in a big city. I’m not putting my American neighbours down when I say they do things differently. They have their ways ,we have ours. This is just something that we do because we’re trying to learn how to help those that society has discarded or can’t find their place. Sure we have one or two areas where the homeless have pitched tents and we have some resources for them if they want. Unfortunately The mayor recently forced a small camp to move from a very visible place to more scattered locations. There were social workers involved as well as protesters trying to protect them. I didn’t like that happening and I want to see even more resources dedicated to them ,but on the other hand ,we are trying to avoid something like what happens on the streets when it’s just ignored. When I see YouTube videos of the streets of Philadelphia I’m extremely saddened. I thank the lucky stars that I was born in Toronto Canada.\nFor all it’s pollution and expense and crowds ,I think it’s a great place to do almost anything your heart desires . For every ugly building there is a beautiful park ,for every honked horn there is a birds call , for every cold and dark day there is beautiful sunny one around the corner.

I agree with all the points, but this situation is not only in Canada but everywhere. I will start from my home country India, Since graduation I was working as a part time teacher and I deadly love that profession. To qualify myself I did so many courses, internships, attended workshops, completed my B.Ed and M.Ed but everything went vain when I started searching a job. The amount of hardwork I did was not at all recognizable, salaries were so low but still I worked thinking may be later I will get an opportunity but to a disappointment it never happen. Later, I moved to UAE thinking maybe here atleast I will get what I expected, struggled for 5 months to get a job luckily I was on a family visa. I lowered my expectations, ready to work on the lowest salary but still I did no job. Finally I decided to go back to my home country but was still applying for the jobs thinking to not loose hope till the date of my flight and believe me the next day I got a call and got selected the same day with an average package not the lowest but still I was happy. So I think difficulties are everywhere it depends on how you are dealing with them and mostly being positive is the main key for success. Even I am deciding to immigrate Canada, have many friends their who are happy with their lives but it doesn't mean I should keep my hopes high but the best thing I can do is accepting whatever is coming to me and being grateful of whatever I have. (BTW teachers are underrated everywhere)

Ladies what a great and informative video. I am currently in NYC and have been for the past 9 years. I am also doing research on the best countries to move to as an American with several years of work experience. Definitely NOT interested in having a survival job. You guys just explained NYC in this video. NYC is very international so it can be very overwhelming and many service workers are international but had careers in their own country. a lot can be said about your narrative. you failed to mention the age of immigration. That alone is THE single most important factor on the out come of the exercise . anyone over 40 should not immigrate. second the education and skill set you bring will be a major factor in the out come. Third there is systemic racism after a certain level which one can feel in very job. i strongly believe one should come to Canada, get top quality education and skill, work with top quality people/organizations which should not be more than 5-6 years, then go back home. the long term price of immigration is huge. This country needs hands to work and pay taxes so that their show should go on. I don't care how it started but if you did just your job a server you get just the hourly. This idea that tipping is standard is basically rewarding bad behavior.. something I refuse to.\n\nIv had the odd waitress get snarky and if the food was high quality, while the service was garbage. Iv gone directly to kitchen staff and given them a tip cutting the server out completely normally they only give 10% of there total tips to the kitchen and I don't know any one server that claim more that 35% of there tips come tax season.\n. ohh I should mention prior to covid lockdowns a decent sever at an average bar takes home an average of $200 a night on top of their hourly wage so with the standard of 15 per h that's 120 + 200 that is 320 in a 8 hour shit that $40.00 and rough hour after 37 since I don't know a single one paying the proper taxes. Okay. A lot of people here have no clue how the immigration system works both in the US and in Canada. “He should just have come here legally”. Well, most of the time a legal path to emigrating to the US/Canada just does not exist, and its getting more and more impossible to be granted asylum. In the US you can’t just apply for a work visa, you can’t just apply for a green card. You got to be eligible to apply for it. For a work visa you need a job offer first, you need proof of income and most of the time the employer will have to prove they couldn’t find an American to take the position. To get a green card you either have to get married to an American, invest at least $500,000 or try applying for asylum (which is almost impossible to get nowadays). ALSO to apply for asylum you need to be either inside the US or at a US port of entry. Try to be less “patriotic” and more empathetic. People flee their countries because of war, violence, cartels, gangs, terrorism, etc. They are desperate and want to protect their families and have a better life. If you were in their shoes and staying in your home country put your family in great harm you would have done the same thing. People need to stop judging, stop being selfish and start leading with empathy.

Psychology student here. In the interest of accurate information, I would like to point out some flaws I find with some of the studies in this documentary and question the conclusions reached. I understand that CBC Marketplace are not personality psychologists and therefore cannot be expected to produce the same quality of work as a scientist. However, I think it is worthwhile to think critically about the information in the media that we consume. I am also open to anyone who wants to engage in debating the contents of this documentary.\n\n\nThe following are some notes I took while watching the documentary outlining the individual hypotheses of the studies I think are flawed and descriptions of their respective accompanying errors. \n\n\nThere are three possible research questions, and thereby dependent variables, being answered by the apartment hunting studies.\n1. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \n \n2. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man between Toronto, Montreal, Regina, and Victoria, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could total apartments visited be a confounding variable? (4 in Toronto, 3 in Montreal, Regina, and Victoria) \nb. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \nc. They only showed the black man apartment hunting in some of the trials. I am considering him out of the study for consistency purposes. The first-nations man is the only one who got unfair treatment in the footage of apartment hunting. \n \n3. Possible hypothesis: If male landlords/agents are more discriminatory than female landlords/agents, then the white man and the first-nations man will get different treatment at different Canadian apartments in equally diverse cities. \na. Don’t know all the information about the genders of the landlords/agents, not all the footage is shown, but the ones where they get ripped off are male. The others shown are female. The remaining interactions are not shown.\n\n\nThere are also some factors that may have influenced the racial bias survey and, in my estimation, rendered it scientifically unreliable.\n\n\n1. The bias survey and accompanying tests at the CBC attributed the differences between the studies to unconscious racism. What if it was just due to familiarity with certain racial groups over others? \na. The black participants had no bias between European-American and African Americans, supposedly indicating no racism, while the white and first-nations participants did, supposedly indicating racism. Is it possible that another interpretation of this result is that bias is a function of familiarity: that we are comfortable with the majority demographic in the geographical location we live in, as well as our own kind. Therefore, the black guys are less biased against black people due to being both black and living in a white majority demographic? \nb. The participants took the survey knowing the objectives of the researchers was to study racial discrimination. They might have influenced the answers they gave \nc. Whether the participants agreed with identity politics or not was a confounding factor that was not controlled . You can only be racially unbiased biased if you think that racial identity is a means of accurately viewing the world. People who do not believe in the existence of identity politics may answer the questions quite differently, which could be a different reason for the results.\nd. I took the study myself. The words that participants were required to match were a mix of adjectives and nouns. It is known within psychology that nouns have higher levels of imagery. This was not properly controlled and therefore is another confounding variable. \n \nAll the other studies looked fine to me. I welcome any discussion on my observations.

Moving to Vancouver was a great experience tbh, I'm of nigerian heritage but was born in Finchley, North London...\nCanadians are friendly and extremely welcoming ( Coming from the UK i found this so off-putting ) lol. Ironically its non-white Canadians i had funny experiences with.... from dating to renting its weird\n\n\nAsians under 27 always asking some crazy questions ( Are you an NBA player ) lol it's cute at first but after a while when little koreans walk up to me talking about ( You look like will smith ) it makes you think... To be fair these are not inherent negatives, But asian canadians alone did treat me weird i found, Indian girls i met all wanted to be with me but where also very ashamed to say so or let their family know, but thats a cultural thing so i understood.\n\n\n Of all the demographics White canadian and native men where the most welcoming and open to me, in my experience.. Needless to say, i did what she said and It worked the asian lady asked me to come get the keys later that day. I feel bad for his innocent children to have to go through this. You want to live in another country, you need to follow the law like every else. You learn the language, get the same I.D. We all have to have , and be treated the same as if any American were to illegally cross boarders! What we have to go through just to have identification here should be no different for anyone else! I hate that at my work that we have a 5 foot rule; if a customer is within sight in 5 feet of you, you are to ask them if they need help with anything. Whether or not we suspect them of stealing. We don't discriminate racially, we do this with every person who walks into the store. Which is ridiculous because our store is very small and we have anywhere between 3 and 6 employees on the floor at any given time. So, inevitably, every customer is offered help many many times in their visit. I am always worried that a person of colour will think I'm profiling them, when I'm really not. I genuinely just want to know if they're finding everything they need or have any questions. If we were to racially profile based on the people who have stolen from us in the past, we'd be going after every white person who walks in the store. In my 3 years working there we have had only white people steal from us. So sick of the race issue, we're all humans. The amount of melanin in our skin should not matter.
