im a turkish immigrant, moved to canada with my family 1998, it was a totally new world, amazing country, freedom, amazing economy, basically fun to live, i had best times of my life, however last year left canada for thailand. thailand is cheap fun to live and has amazing night life. Canada has become so expensive. I am a nurse, and I was having a hard time finding quality work. Moving to the USA was the best decision of my life.

When I think about my time in Canada, it's bittersweet. I moved there for my undergraduate studies and spent 5 great years soaking up the Canadian culture. After graduating from McGill University, I had a tough time finding a job. Fortunately, I had the support of my boyfriend and didn't struggle with housing, especially in more affordable Montreal.\n\nWe moved to Australia a few months ago, and wow, what a change! I do miss my Canadian friends, but I can't complain about not having to tip for a take-out coffee here! As well as not paying an astronomical amount for asking for alternative milk!

When I came to Canada as student 10 years ago I \n- never planned to work part time when I was in school. I only made the move when I had enough money to live and thrive without off campus jump\n- I am SHOCKED when people say they aren’t prepared. Where is google buddy. \n- I was planned enough to not take up any low skilled jobs. Today I earn in 6 digits. \n- As immigrants we need to also accept Canadian values and not bring our crazy practices from back home. Grow up buddies.

For people who complain about Canada and wanna move back think twice, thrice and n more number of times.\nLife is expensive here and it's cheap nowhere. Taxes are high but the benefits are worth it. In my country, I gave up 30% of my salary purely for my children's school and bus fare, which is torally free of cost here.\n\nI was well versed with my local language and had a specialist dentist degree but still no job, whereas here even a mere DDS (undergraduate dentist) with poor English mints money.\n\nWhen i was jobless this country bore with me 70% of my family's total expenditure thru benefits and schooled plus comfortably yet freely transported my child which none of our home countries ever did (even Govt schools in my country charge a minimal fee and pupils' standard is deplorable).\nSo, yes, Canada is not a bed of roses to start with, but we never came from a bed of roses ?\n\nAnd one final note to people praising the US - ATLEAST I CAN VISIT A SHOPPING MALL IN CANADA AT PEACE THAT I WONT BE SHOT AT ?

Canada is so broken now. I came here in 2010, it was amazing back then. Now, every single day I regret not moving out of Canada earlier and not changing my career on time. There is no living standard now and its about surviving now. Everything I am earning is just going towards bills and tickets. The cops are everywhere giving fines for smallest of mistakes to make sure refugees and asylum seekers get paid almost $2000 every month. Also, if you are making above $90K household wise, you are done, you cannot get so many benefits from the government. Basically, now working in Canada means paying for lifestyle of lazy people.

Me and my family moved to Canada ?? 8 years ago. Today we have our own house, brand new car and some commodities. It has been tough to say the least. There are now quite a few news stories in Canada of immigrants leaving the country - some back home and others to the USA and other places. Many just get a Canadian passport and then leave. There are public health care and pensions, so it can be an asset and also a convenient travel document to have. A lot of Canadian university graduates have a very hard time finding work in their fields and a lot of them look to the US for a better future. Both immigration and unemployment in Canada are much higher that in the US - so more people are chasing fewer jobs that often pay less and are taxed more than in the USA. Opportunities are generally a lot fewer in Canada than the US, and the business environment is not as favourable, and taxes significantly higher. You would be getting some of the entrepreneurs from Canada moving to the US for more favourable conditions as well to launch a business and also now a lot more rich investor types, so-called high net worth individuals wanting to relocate, because they just raised the capital gains tax in Canada. Capital gains is also triggered on inheritance in Canada with a deemed sale of property and assets, so rich people would prefer the American system and want to be residents there for tax purposes and have their assets grow in value in the US compared to Canada. There are very large numbers of foreign students and other categories of immigrants which may have as their goal going to the US after getting a temporary visa to Canada which is easy to get - maybe something like half a million to a million people in those categories depending on the year, plus around another half million regular immigrants and refugees now. The Trudeau administration has increased immigration to record numbers. It has been steadily going up over the years for several decades since 1990. Because of family re-unification it can have a snowball effect and could significantly exceed 1 million per year. A lot of the sending countries have much larger populations than Canada, so there are a lot more that can be potentially sent to Canada in the future. About 1/4 of the population of Canada has been added in the past few decades. Add to that visitors and temporary visas - that is a lot of people potentially moving to the US. Before the 1990s Canadians visiting the US were not required to have a passport and a drivers' license or birth certificate was adequate. Now a passport is required. It is impossible to effectively control the long Canada-US border, so there could be some unified policies in that area agreed on between Canada and the USA on immigration and refugees. Canada currently has a very open immigration policy with the government actively seeking out more immigration beyond its current processing capacity and trying to take rejected immigrants from other countries. The Canadian government, especially in recent years under Trudeau is immigration hungry. It might be the only country in the world doing that. What some news reports are now saying is that some immigrants are actually leaving, since they find it so difficult in Canada and some are worse off than they were in the countries they came from, which were considered to be less developed than Canada. \nWashington currently has more immigration controls and administrative competencies than Ottawa, so US pressure and influence is a faster way to get reforms into the system than waiting for local politicians to do anything, which is unlikely. Canada is seen by some as a backdoor into the US. Biden's immigration policies could be seen as very conservative in Canada compared to Trudeau's. It used to be in the news about how refugees were trying to get to Canada and walking across the border in Quebec and out west from the US earlier, but now there are more news stories of immigrants leaving Canada trying to go the other way, probably due to high costs and unemployment because the government took in more people than it could absorb into the economy. They have the idea that immigration drives GDP growth so that they can borrow and spend more, expand the civil service, etc. without making any cutbacks or efficiencies, supposedly without the Debt to GDP ratio getting worse, just by bringing in more people as if that would drive the economy. A lot depends on who you bring in as well. Are they going to go on welfare, are they going to increase crime, will they somehow contribute to society, are they a net tax benefit or cost in terms of government services, will they invest money, will they start a business and create jobs for others ? Those issues do not factor into government decision making in Canada for the most part. Ontario Premier Doug Ford did say there were too many foreign students. It is bad planning not to consider those factors since there are other costs that grow with those policies as well, and infrastructure has to be expanded. I think that the real immigration numbers to Canada are not transparent or made public, nor are the costs involved, if anyone even knows what they are. Nor is the impact on crime. You can guess from what the reports are in other countries. The Fraser Institute has made some estimates on the net costs of immigration to the government budget a few years ago, which were very high and which by now have increased - the cost equivalent of several new aircraft carriers each year. They are big numbers which are not publicized, but it amounts to the fact that immigration is subsidized by the taxpayers in Canada and it is not paying for our pensions as an ageing society as has been claimed. There is less money for education, health care and pensions per person, and those social benefits will probably have to be reduced over time. Social programs can only be delivered to the extent that the government has money. The bigger social system a county has, the more such immigration policies are going to cost. Trudeau has been expanding various social programs as well, so higher taxes and debt are likely with that approach. Then more productive people and companies will want to leave Canada and go to the US. Probably the government does not know what the actual numbers and costs are and doesn't actively keep track of that information beyond what is required. Probably nobody knows what the true immigration figures and their associated costs are in Canada, and hardly anyone has even studied those issues. If they can just walk across the US border and get papers so easily making an asylum claim, it is not surprising, since it would take them longer to get a regular visa and work permit if they did it legally. You could call that a loophole in the US immigration system which is being exploited. The US is better governed in general and has a better system in many ways, but I am not sure if it is the same on that. People have arrived on boats and have not been sent back. At least in the US you have more open information about those issues. In Canada it is hard to find out anything about it. Deportations from Canada are very few. \nOn other issues in Canada when voting in federal elections you have to show a government issued photo ID like a drivers' license or passport to vote and bring a card that was mailed out to eligible voters that gets updated addresses when a person files their taxes. I have never heard of mail-in ballots in Canada, but there are remote areas of the country in the far north who may have special system for voting. It is easier to get a Canadian citizenship than US and many more citizenships are handed out in Canada each year in proportion to the population than in the US. Canadian might be one of the easiest citizenships to get in the world. The official line now is that it is a country of immigrants. Based on current trends, will very little opposition to it in the parliament and most MPs supporting it, future immigration to Canada could increase to several million per year because of the rapid growth of population in the world, and the momentum already growing of immigration to Canada, so it may change significantly in the future. Historically around the world you can see many examples that country names, borders, flags and languages change over time with population changes, so it might not be called Canada anymore in 50-100 years. For example, Bulgaria used to be called Thrace which had been a powerful kingdom in antiquity and had a different language which is barely known about anymore. Over the past 2,000 years it has gone through a number of changes and had various regimes governing it, has been independent and also part of several different empires. Canada has only been a country for a short time in comparison and has been been going through significant changes. Trudeau has said that Canada is a post-national country. Canada is also going through a period of critical self-examination and deconstruction-revisionism. A lot of what had been viewed as positive from its history now is seen more critically, with re-naming and removing historical figures now seen as negative.\nDiscussing immigration policy critically is considered by many to be taboo in Canada, unless a person is saying good things about it in general. You can hear people say that the government isn't processing enough people, for example, but not often that there are too many or that it costs a lot of money. The trend of migration from Canada to the US would only increase much more in the future as it is going currently, and its role as a stepping stone to migration to the US could increase. The way this would be seen by many in Canada is that they are losing valuable people to the USA whom they consider assets, since a lot of officials have been trying to bring in more people into the country, but not everyone wants to stay in Canada nowadays because of a lack of jobs and opportunities. Canada is quite laissez-faire about migration, with Toronto being a sanctuary city as well.

The ratio of men to women is also insane. I have noticed there is way more uneducated men coming in and a lot of them are not culturally accustomed to Canada when it comes to how to behave. The amount of times I’ve seen them in groups hanging around the playgrounds or joking about kidnapping / r@pe, following women, its crazy. Or even posting ads for rooms to rent but as a male requesting only females. \n\nWe are moving out of a city we love because they are driving up rent prices and taking jobs. \n\nI’m not against immigrants or different cultures being here but there needs to be some sort of better application process and smaller number of them coming in at a time.

People who live in Canada for mote than 10 years their stories are different. They settled everything during that time and live happily. However, these people feel the pain of the country's condition but they are in good shape. Unlike people who moved recently, its very hard and not worth to settle in this country. USA is slightly better in some situations but all over its depends on person's situation and time. \n\nMoving out because someone is going, its not a good approach. Do your own research and if its not worth it then don't go out. There might be other countries which offer better options.

Went to Canada in 2005 first. Things were so different. Was there just for a year before moving to California for about 9 years. Now back in India and love it here. Glad I enjoyed the good days in Canada and USA when it was really good times there. Even Many parts of Uaa are like this now. UK too is bad choice. I worked for a Canadian school/institute as their admissions advisor for India. But when things were not looking good for their job prospects I honestly told them not to go or wait to get in a better US university. Ofcourse this ethical mindset was causing trouble with my work profile and targets, so I quit. Atleast I won't feel guilty of misguiding hopeful students who were ready to take education loan by keeping their homes or ancestral lands as mortgage. I will advise the new generation to choose any country for education after doing all research, not just by the glossy picture they portray.. or best to stay in India and help our economy grow.. create jobs here. Better to live a life king size here than doing labour work in other countries. Better to be a part of growing India than being a secondary citizen somewhere else. Apna desh apna hota hai.???

My friend who lived in canada for 14 years. His wife get pregnant and they could not get appointment to see doctor untill 8 to 9 weeks waiting. One time they went for emergency and waiting time was 43 hours. Seriously, Canada have poorest healthcare systen. He clearly said that he did biggest mistake to moved in canada 14 years back. He finally planning to move out this december and leave canada parmenantaly.

What might happen is that all the Canadians leave and Canada ends up a state of India or worse yet a sikh nation. I live downtown and i see the new ones all the time and my heart sinks and they move around in big groups. Whos lettin in all these clowns and who keeps voting in Trudeau cuz the immigrants i know do not like trudeau but they are not allowed to vote and i know plenty and these guys have their PR or on work visa.

I have been in Canada since 2015, I always felt it was best place to be in. I got my citizenship in 2021. Things went downhill so fast, now I’m thinking to move back to India. Taxes are insane, cost of living has gone up so much you can barely afford a decent meal. Bigger cities is filled with uneducated morons from all over world, drug problems, healthcare is a joke - they planned for a million immigrants without thinking it will burden existing healthcare with no doctors and enough nurses. Neurologist appointment is 3 years waiting time - it’s not the same Canada it was 10 years ago.

Some facts are true but honestly its not that bad.. people do qualify for mortgages with 80k income as well.. may be a smaller house.. and the point where they mention we will pay debt for the rest of our life think of the time when our parents took loan to build houses in india and they paid a debt as well. It is because any first generation will have a struggle in any new place or country.since we were born in families where house was not a problem in india we think its easy. May be just move to a different city like move to Delhi from punjab and buy a home there. Can a youg guy in his 30’s take a loan from bank in india and make those big EMi’s in india which is about 30 to 50k a month in india.? We lived 10 years in canada..my wife got health issue due to allergies..however the Doctors in canada couldn't diagnose it properly n no treatment was given...gradually we tried going to emergency and it 6hrs of waitinng time and after that they simply did only blood test , then said everything is good.....but they did nt find what the issue is...we got frustrated for 3 months and my wife health was ruined in 3 months, finally we took decision to come back to india for treatment , on landing day only we went to Hyd Care hospitAl ..all tests done, found the issue.. got treatment in 1 day...alternatively we took Ayurvedic treatment..my wife is doing fine now....those 3 months we saw hell..my wife went almost into deppression....now i moved my family to India...

Everything that's being said in this video is so true....my elder sister lived in canada from 2012 to 2022 and she has witnessed declining of that country....health-care is big issue....housing has become expensive.....too much of inflation....she had to travel to india in order to get her knee surgery done as waiting time was 120 weeks something....finally she moved back despite having PR and living happily in Mumbai eversince

Settled really well but since last few years we’ve noticed a lot of crime drugs and Canada became culturally insignificant place to live. Lately Khalistani movement have become more frequent on the streets. The schools are focusing more on LGBTQ and sex education and there is not much other education provided in the schools Finally we decided to move back to India after a lot of discussion with parents and friends and we moved back to India last June. After spending a month in India (Ahmedabad, Gujarat) I feel so secured for my family and kids.\n\nMe and my wife are pharmacists, we have witnessed heath care very closely. we’ve seen a lot of patients died due to not getting heart surgeries on time . Knee replacement has become almost impossible due to a long wait times and patients are badly suffering with pain. Some hospitals had to close down on weekends as no doctors are available, there are no enough beds so patients are being treated on hallways, The wait times in Emergency Departments is so long…\n\nYou should have talked about schools, education policies are not so good till 10th standard they are only focusing on arts, music, drawings, basic maths, sex and LGBTQ. The sex education is compulsory from 5th standard (It was optional before)

Been in Canada 15+ years. Stay back in india if you are considering a move here. Life is better there 100%. \nOnly come if you are getting a good IT job that keeps you for 3-4 years and you limit your time to that to come and learn then go back after getting Passport. \nEducation is inferior here, Healthcare is non existent, political divisiveness governs all things, it lacks culture and color, it's cold, expensive, and dead and quiet overall.\nIndia is live and vibrant, yes with its own issues, but still more hospitable than here.\nYou fall behind financially because of taxes and also mentally becuase of overall slow pace and complacency in people/jobs with very little competition becuase of the oligarchs controlling all things.

most newcomers to any country struggle especially since most are not bringing in wads of cash to start a business but literally scraping in using life savings just to get here - however once here with residential status a national health care and level of income security for unemployment benefits is an added bonus which you won't get in every country regardless of residency status but refugees and others come in with no money at all as well as problems in some cases with language barriers, but as bad as everyone thinks it is the grass is not greener on the other side just because you're paying lower taxes but privatising infrastructure only makes things more expensive even when you're not taxed.... and Canada is a huge country with very limited number of tax payers such a small market would double costs for private business too - and just cos things may be cheaper you may find you don't fit as well as you thought..... and also the more you move the less time you have to settle and grow into the space you find yourself now....I've lived in 3 very different countries so I understand how difficult it is.... and how some places regardless of cost just fit better than others.... I love Toronto... but would not want to live in Vancouver or Texas for very different reasons... and don't judge a city by people who don't know how privileged they are to live in Toronto or anywhere in Canada really they should try living in India or Russia or even South Africa... places may be cheap but the lifestyle isn't worth much as a result of being failed states - even USA is falling apart road by road bridge by bridge.....of course there's hope for all of them eventually.... but if you don't like it it's probably best you leave.... if you don't want Canada why would Canada want you.... your just bringing the nation into disrepute

Good, as they should. Also, thanks to all the amazing politicians we have running our nation. Our country isn't what it used to be. Those were the golden times. Everything's been turned upside down all for votebank politics. This is utterly pathetic. No matter which party is elected, issues related to immigration are never going to be addressed. It's a free for all. I don't understand how people given PRs in a province that first gives them a chance to emigrate to Canada start moving into big cities like Toronto and Vancouver.

Vancouver real-estate is essentially a money laundering operation for rich foreigners looking to stash their money somewhere. Protections were put in place a little to late back in 2016 with the foreign buyers tax. But honestly most of these foreigners can either be exempt from this tax with their citizenship loop hole (anchor baby) Or honestly they just pay the fine since they can afford it and just need to get their money out of the country they are coming from. Its quite dystopian because building more homes like the government keeps promising isn't going to solve the problem either. This is because its just going to add more to the volume of housing that the foreigners can buy up from the locals and adding more fuel to the problem. Immigrations Canada is lying to new comers. To top it off, BC just recently passed a law in 2024 where you can no longer build single family residences in the lower mainland area. WHERE are the families going to go then? Can anyone even afford a family anymore? Vancouverites like myself who were diligent and saved every penny are walking away from mortgages in droves because who wants to lock into a 30 year term amortization period where at rate plus prime your looking at 5.5%-7% where the bank makes more than double in interest from you. Over the course of 30 years you still lose because even if your property appreciates past double. Capital Gains will take into effect. Your loosing money no matter what! It truly is a nightmare designed to enslave you financially. This is simply wealth creation suicide. Came from immigrant parents in the 1990s, I slaved for 10 years during my twenties, didn't come from wealth, didn't party, didn't have fun, studied hard, and started a business and I still cant break into the Vancouver market. So I ended up just barely squeaking into the market in Abbotsford. Vancouverites as a whole are screwed. Time to pack up and move to Alberta I suppose. I will also preface by saying that most of BC is empty and that it would make sense to built outside of the Vancouver area as Vancouver has now basically become fiscally unlivable. It might make sense for the next government that come into power to decide to invest in building in other towns and cities around BC to incentivize Canadians to move.

We recently moved from Switzerland to BC Canada and to be honest, we somehow regret it because it feels like it's a big downgrade. According to the news we broke 40 Million residents in Canada in the new year. They just announced that the Canadian population is already at 41 million as of last week. How can we absorb this many people. I would say the majority are from India. A lot of these new residents are amazing. But hear me out......For more than 70 years Canada has accepted diverse immigrants from around the world. These immigrants have always had challenges with acceptance and integration as they bought homes and had families and raised children to be Canadians. But these immigrants are economic migrants. They don't want to be Canadians like they used to. They want the PR, and the citizenship. But they want to work and move all that money out of Canada back to India. Then when they retire, they themselves will dump all their Canadian assets and move to India where cost of living and home ownership is exceedingly less expensive. Even their federal government pension plan money will move out of the country. I'll be totally truthful...MY perception of these economic migrants is that THEY HATE US. In India they are educated, come from Middle class and upper middleclass families. They want the PR and Citizenship so they can eventually pull their entire family from India over to Canada. But they have to Work at Burger king or Tim Hortons when they arrive. And the HATE and resent Canadians for it. \n Canada allows people to keep their foreign passports and citizenship. There are 300,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Hong Kong, There are 450,000 people with Canadian citizenship living in Lebanon with a War about to expand across the border. I came from France back in 2015 whith my familly when Harper was still prime minister at the time , really I'd say things have been really great , my family and I have worked hard to get to where we are today and have always wanted to give back to our community here but I am disgusted to see in 2024 what Trudeau has done to the country and to see that immigration is no longer as prestigious as it used to be. Unlike some people we have today, I had to wait 3 years with my family before receiving approval to move to Canada (after so many exams, appointments and waiting times). I did my middle school here until college and I'm currently still looking for work in correctional and when I see that people arrive here afterwards without being permanent residents, who are literally flooding spots at colleges/university and also jobs that are normally open for young canadians in their 15-16 (When I was in high school, my first job was at a McDonald's, and without exception, everyone there was Canadian. Today, when I go back to the same McDonald's for a cheeseburger every now and then, the entire staff is nothing but Indians) .As a person with an immigrant background, I'm the first one to say that there's a very big problem in Canada, and that current immigration, mainly from India, is no longer for economic reasons but to reunite families.(They do not, and will never, assimilate into Canadian culture.)Now that I've grown up in Canada for almost half my life, I'm already thinking about either returning to France or start over somewhere else if nothing changes.\n\nThe Trudeau government, uncontrolled immigration, dangerous idelogies from extreme far left idea, rising unemployment, and economic misery getting worse every day , gradually pushes me away from the country I love, Oh Canada.

I think there is not much to do in Canada apart from snow and forests. I think in the past only prisoners were sent there?\nBut I heard this country pay you very well if you move in there, because they cannot find people that want go there actually. They are forced to pay workers 5 times the price versus other countries.

I lived in vegas for a very short time, it was planned to be living there but we went back to Canada. I am dual citizen either way. I will say that i like what that robert bigalow was doing with the budget suites. I stayed there temporarily. It would be so awesome for canada to do this for the housing crisis. As a hindi speaking Indian I.T. professional, I don't understand why Punjabis, Gujaratis, and Tamil Indians are always dying to move to Canada? I lived in Canada and didn't find Canada all that great. I'd say America is a far better country than Canada. Dated a chick in Toronto who was from Romania. She didn’t even get her Canadian citizenship yet. Only having the residency of Canada. I tried to get her to come to America so many times and try to show her that things aren’t as bad as what you’ve probably heard in Romania/ Canada. I even was willing to move over her parents. Yes, please stop moving to our over saturated economy. Canadas economy is not ready to sustain such a large number of immigrants. When you have an extra 451,000 people flooding in per year that require jobs in a very sparsely populated country you’re going to run into housing and job shortages, which increase demands, increasing prices and therefore increasing homeless because people can’t afford living and they can’t get a job because a requirement for being an immigrant is full time employment.

I lived in Canada for 14 years . Thankfully I have finally moved out . I don’t regret my decision I can see a doctor when I need it and the police do their job . I miss the country from time to time since I spent most of my adult life there but I’m better off where I am now . I have a stable job and can afford a place to live.

I’m one of those new immigrants, originally from China. I’d like to share my point of view on this subject. For immigrants, sometimes the number one reason to move to another country is the harshness of their home country. In my case, China is not a pleasant place to live - everywhere is overcrowded, housing is insanely expensive, and job opportunities are mostly concentrated on big cities. So, if a young person like myself stayed in China, my only option to make a living is to join the rat race with another million people, work 60 hours a week, all for a 2-bedroom apartment. The minimum wage in China is the equivalent of $4 Canada dollars per hour. I don’t earn the minimum wage, but this should tell you how underpaid workers are over there. I’m ok with working hard and I have worked hard my entire life, got two degrees before 25 while studying as a non-English speaker, but I can’t bear the thought of not being fairly compensated for my work. In a freer and more transparent society, at least worker’s rights are protected. I could have chosen other countries to migrate to, but Canada seemed to have the fastest processing time and highest chance of accepting at the time, so I took the opportunity. I’m sorry for the Canadians who got caught up in a poorly managed immigration system. All I am saying is, if you are in my shoes, you would rather take this chance to move here - this could be the one of a lifetime window of opportunity.
