I love living in Canada. Best country in the world in my opinion and I travel a lot so I have a base to make that statement. There is a segment in any society who wakes up every morning angry, negative, and pessimistic, the grievance crowd. Well they are all hanging out here, and no matter where they are every day is ground hog day wake up angry, negative and pessimistic. Must be exhausting to live that way.

Here in Australian we have similar problems with migrants ,and they come mostly from Asia the problem is they unfortunately create mono cultures in many city suburbs,where they speak only their languages, and live like they were still in their native countries,and dictate to the rest of us what we can and cannot eat,in the suburb I live we cannot buy pork meat from the butchers. ,because they’re owned by muslims, they make little or no effort to assimilate,I think calling it multicultural is a wrong way to describe it ,A ??more accurate term would be multimonocultures ?

Smh ??‍♂️! Regeneration is the church where all the addicts go to get their last meal! It's hopeless for them ?! I know that area very well and something needs to be done about it! Those people need to be told about somewhere else not just that area! They're taking all the jobs in that place ?! No one is able to get work if you're not Indian! All the Tim Hortons, fast-food and factories, all Indian! They work for less which is what makes it hard for people who lived here for their whole life to be paid accordingly! Plus they drive up the prices of homes ? in the area with all the buying and reselling! They don't buy to live they buy to create slum houses! Now they expect normal Canadians to live like them! No one better not talk to me about living like that ?! It wouldn't end well!

All help support in name of human grounds must be done by appointed goverment so they are hold acocuntabble instead of finding 1000's of NGO around world, only goverment to goverment funds support must be allowed.

I can tell you why I'm leaving...mainly for a far better life. This country ain't worth the effort. Housing and taxes are ridiculous and the economy is failing, besides our dollar having no buying power. I reject enslavement because I've worked hard enough to live in a country where housing is 1/3 the cost, food is affordable and high quality, great weather, great social life, and much more fulfilling overall. I don't know why anyone would buy into the lie of a Canadian dream...that ship sailed way back! ?

The worst part of this mass student fraud immigration scam is that it is essentially creating a class of indentured servants in Canada. Where i live, wealthy indians buy a franchise, they then get permits for foreign workers in india, who they CHARGE under the table of to 40k (their families life savings) for the permit to come work in their franchise. They also rent to for or 5 of them ONE ROOM to share, rent being deducted from their pay. They are then exploited and told if they complain they will be deported with no money and shame their families back home...its messed up and it's 100% happening in every canadian city. If you notice the indian worker at the fast food joint isnt too happy, it may be because they are a literal slave. Very progressive!

Brampton was nice place to live back in the day. Now it is a shithole, infested with crime, violence and everything else. Toronto has been well upon its way there for more than a decade . I guess cultural enrichment and diversity struck again. \n\nThis what happens when a country no longer controls its borders and has no say as to who comes in and how many. Canadians are living those end results and consequences in real time. The thing is that too many of them voted for this and are too passive, apathetic or spineless to say or do anything. Which isn’t necessarily all that different from the rest of Western countries.\n\nPeople who don’t care about Canada, Canadian culture, values etc. Canada has just become a port of convenience, where people, like in this case from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc., land, and are more interested in “what can you give me”, “ what can you do for me”, no forethought of hey, maybe this is a two-way street where something is also expected from me to give back to the country and society that gave me an opportunity. If this is allowed to continue it will only get worse.

In Australia here government are bringing hundreds of thousands of new immigrants to Australia.\nWith no provision where these new immigrants will live.\nAnd that put pressure on existing house ?? prices.\n\nThe government were the sole problem creating hardship for people.

That one lady said it best if we immigrate to a foreign country we would have to adapt to their culture. People should do it here. I have no issues with immigration or immigrants. Have your church’s or mosques and practice your beliefs but don’t expect your new host country to bend to your wishes or beliefs, the former Australian Prime Minister said it best “you chose to come here we didn’t ask you come. the country is predominantly Christian if you don’t like it, go back to where you came from or find somewhere else to to live.”

I was born and raised in Canada, never thought of nor considered wanting to be in another country. That was until 2019 and beyond, with the pandemic happening, freedom rallies, government that runs the country, and the people that live here (I understand that no matter where I go, there will always be naive dumb people but the must be somewhere in the world with less per capita)

Where will these immigrants get jobs? Where will they live? How many immigrants will go on welfare? \nOur economy is slow right now. Letting in more immigrants is really going to slow the economy. \nTrudeau is a trust fund baby. He has never had to worry about money or housing or food. He has always had it good. Hence he does not think about monetary policy or other things. He is likely preoccupied now with making plans on how to get re-elected. \nTrudeau has divided Canada with his carbon tax. Some people pay the full tax, some people pay less tax and some people pay no tax. What a mess Trudeau is making of Canada! He has no clue on what to do.

Go back to your iwn country. Sharia law is not a law in Britain. Brutush law. I wouldnt listen. Just try, i would be fight back. There are no muslim areas. Just Britain. You can have a million muslims. But no matter where they live, its Britain. Screw your sharia rules. Its not lae.

I've lived here my whole life! I've never liked it, and it's only got worse. When I went to Japan I was treated with more kindness, and respect more than Canada! I'm a recording artist, and there are no opportunities to succeed where as America and Japan have more potential for the music industry where as Canada is dead when it comes to the music business! Add in the fact my main source of income is disability from traumatic abuse. It's next to impossible to live, and manage any financial situation here unless you rich already!

FYI Vancouver is the 2nd city in the world where the most languages are spoken. More than 170. I lived in Vancouver for 30 years and my grandparents from the late 1930's until they died. All in all, Vancouver was part of my life for over 50 years. You can not compare Van with TO. Vancouver is very multiculteral with not alot of segregation depending on where in Van you are. TO is much larger. No mountains. No oceans. No big evergreen forests or close by trails, ect. I liked the people I met in TO but would never live there again. Van NO ice storms. But yes, Van rains much. It is West Coast after all. Victoria has many more annual sunlight hours. Van is land locked, surrounded by ocean. Most of those from TO speak negatively about BC in general. We would ask them why they are here (VCR) then. I left 12 years ago as Van is now ruined; nothing like it used to be.

This lack of access to health care is a new thing. I agree with your assessment. It now seems lonelier in Toronto. \n\nCanada used to be different because anyone with a good job could afford at least a condo, but life became unaffordable not just for immigrants, but for everyone unless you are in your 50s-60s and own a home. \n\nI have friends working double jobs supporting family back home in other countries, but for some of them the family back home sound like they are doing better than them and own a home. It’s like they are sacrificing their life to be in poverty or full of hardships and their families get to go out for dinners and drinks with friends. Not them. Not true for everyone, but for some yes and I worry about their own retirement because retirement in Canada without lots of savings means you might be homeless or forced to live with family even if it’s not your preference. \n\n without investments and savings, it will be hard to beat inflation. Getting into debt and getting bad credit can mean not getting an apartment. \n\nThe birth rate is going down because it is expensive to have kids and income isn’t enough to match with living costs. Getting help from government is really not something everyone gets access too. One person might get housing support, 10 others may get nothing. Different governments offer different things. Programs end and change often. \n\nIn Canada definitely bargain and shop around for good phone plans. one idea is to get a pay as you go until “Black Friday” then every year or two when your good offer expires there will be many others. It’s the time with the best deals saving almost half. For instance, I have 50 gigs for $25 for two years from a large provider. Telephone companies are the one place where people must bargain and even ask for better deals as a must.\n\nThe people you see living in big houses, will have kids that can’t afford the same. This is because prices keep rising. The system protects the very rich, but will also drain the middle class often within 1-2 generations. Do not link your business to your personal finance, or creditors can take your home. Some not knowing this lose everything and rich people know better. \n\nPeople live until they are very old, so inheritance is pretty much meaningless to rely on, so no matter what your parents have you must hustle in life. \n\nI do think Canada can become what we want over time. Citizens need to fight the trend of great community spaces, restaurants and bars going out of business and dumb corporations move in with bad boring restaurants. Like a McDonald’s where maybe a popular cultural hang out was. \n\nPart of the problem is a lack of mixed income housing areas, so it’s hard to stay living where you grew up. Artists and musicians help make a city great, but many cannot afford to live here.\n\nFamilies and communities staying together means more support for those with young kids and older relatives when they need help. Yet how is this possible in a city that is always pushing out lower income people when wealthier people desire the area. \n\nIn Toronto, every time you move you have to take what is available and that might mean moving an hour away from everyone you know. This weakens communities. Plus, if you live too far from your work you will have no time to socialize for most the week due to travel time. \n\nI think those who grew up in Toronto do have a certain culture of acceptance with others from many cultures, because your friends at school were from all over. But with new migrants sometimes it isn’t until the second generation that their social circles get diverse. This can be isolating and it’s even isolating as those from Toronto eventually leave dreaming of staying in one spot and not forced to move constantly when a landlord investor sells every house you move into. \n\n\nToronto really needs to protect affordability of housing for at least some housing in every section so that people can save money if they live in the city, and not have to leave their communities and be far from their friends and family. \n\notherwise eventually people get sick of the hustle and it’s too tiring to travel 1+ hrs each way to visit someone during Monday to Friday. \n\n20 years ago any professional could at least buy a condo. Not today. There is too much competition now and investors are allowed to buy up all the most affordable housing that once was a pathway to owning a home. \n\nRich policy makers got greedy and destroyed canada and hopefully diversity in leadership will help make Canada better. But they perhaps people knew to Canada can reject this lonely structure and help us rebuild Toronto into an amazing place. \n\nWe need to make sure everyone can afford housing with 30% of their income. I think that will help

Until 2020 (pandemic), most lifelong Canadians would have proudly & quickly said Canada is a great place. For multiple generations (young & old). It still is in many ways. But like all countries, a bunch of things have made life more difficult lately. \n \nDuring the COVID lockdowns, many people went wild wanting to buy a house (urban & rural). Increasing demand and rising prices. Not long after, inflation caused mortgage rates especially to rise. Rent costs soared too. People interested in working in hospitals declined. Less doctors etc.. \n \nSimultaneously in Canada, the number of people coming by air, land and boat to claim asylum skyrocketed. For example, in 2023 alone, in just one region (Central Canada) around 400 people arrived per day (on average). Ditto for other populated provinces. Also the number of international students SKYROCKETED too. In 2023, averaging around 2,000 per day across Canada. Years 2021 and 2022 had high #s too. \n \nThe majority trying to migrate to Canada recently have been from South Asia. And it's become extremely obvious to Canadians. Even those that are very used to much diversity & many cultures. Plus neighborhoods now know that international students are using schooling as a 'back door' ticket to come to Canada for permanent residency. No one says it in public amongst strangers, but everyone knows because they've witnessed the extreme PR frenzy firsthand by now. To many Canadians it has felt like a tidal wave that has reached all cities and small towns, with a post secondary school. This extreme situation never existed prior to 4 years ago.\n \nHospitals have been hit with many wanting free healthcare. Less doctors/nurses etc., means greater waiting times. Plus a VERY SEVERE HOUSING CRISIS has occurred in many western countries including in Canada. In ways not seen in people's lifetimes. And if you do find a place to live its quite expensive. Including small basement rooms. \n \nNow westerners want the money greedy agents (pseudo smugglers) in other countries to stop marketing & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … being easy (to get). And for any greedy people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're hurting students. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). \n \nNot all players across the board have acted honestly over the years, i.e. contract marriages (IELTS spouse), anchor babies, fraud, false asylum claims. Canada has asked the India government to prevent “ghost consulting”. The new PRIVATE (non-public) colleges are being investigated (including looking for strong oversea ties). \n \nCanadians are meeting students who told Canada they have enough $, but it turns out they borrowed it (some borrowed it for the application process only). Canadian food banks and other CHARITY services have been recklessly advertised on YouTube (by India students in Indian language). Many transit services have launched stricter rules, i.e. lost monthly bus passes registered in your name are now never replaced (unlike before). \n \nThen this year throw in all the Palestinian vs Israeli angry protests happening regularly in cities. Plus the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortion mostly happening in Ontario and British Columbia. Plus the Canadian government also recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Hate crimes have gone from rare to occasional (primarily South Asians against South Asians). \n \nCanadians are so so so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful (due to all of the above). And all are praying it doesn't turn into great anger (like in the USA). \n \nCanadians want multi-culturism to succeed … and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with Canada Immigration's recent changes (reductions & investigations). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the most upset (by all of this).

I live in Toronto this is so crazy. Everything is full no where for anyone to go.

If I was Prime Minister. I would Ban the immigrant Visa program for the next 10 years. I would deport anyone who has overstayed there welcome (those with expired visas) or are here (illegally) and now (not documented) \n\nThat alone would take many out of the shelters, homes, rentals, streets that should not be in the Country anymore. Leaving the resources and the people who work and volunteer for those resources to help the Canadian people (which would be the prime reason for this) Canadians first ! \n\nI would cut the Carbon Tax. Lower the Property Tax. Put a cap on all Strata fees. Lower the deficit. \n\nBuild more Hospitals and treatment centers. Put a ban on drugs and safe injections (as we know there is no such thing) \n\nMake it mandatory for those in need due to drug and mental issues (that have been diagnosed with such) to go to treatment centers (while building more centre's and hiring qualified professionals workers) to stop the crisis. \n\nChange laws on crimes and the time and penalty behind them. Doubling and tripling the time served and raising bail fees by 50% to keep folks that have criminal pasts off the streets <---- for first time offenders. \n\nFor those that have multiple offenses. Quadruple the jail times and put bail amounts 100% more then what they are now. \n\nGive those that kill, ra*e, torture, (and things along that nature (the death penalty) \n\nI would remove the mandate for Electric Vehicles for Canada. Where only 1 vehicle per manufacturer would have to be Electric. So if somebody wants it. It's there but the majority would be. Gas / Diesel etc. \n\nI would build more housing / schools / retirement homes / hospitals / recreation centre's / Library and walk in Clinics. \n\nI would write a law that the roads in Canada must be fixed properly. Not just patched. \n\nI would raise the taxes on Multi Million and Billion Corporations and those that make $400.000 or more to pay a higher tax. While those that make less than $400.000 get taxed less. \n\nI would Lower the provincial taxes by 2% effective immediately and the Minimum wage across all provinces would be $17.75 an hour for full time workers (over 32 hours per week) with .25 cent yearly increases until 2030 to be reassessed. \n\nI would give Tax cuts to those who want to open businesses and build and sell Canadian Products to make sure Canadian Goods are affordable to make. Still have a profit to slow down overseas production creating more Canadian jobs for Canadian People. \n\nEvery Worker that works 24 hours or more weekly is getting Benefits making it mandatory for all types of business owners to make benefits available to the workers and ensuring the plan covers a minimum of 50% throughout the entire year. \n\nI would raise the pension to those who have worked 25+ years in Canada and remain in Canada as a retiree for a minimum of 6 months of the year 5% \n\nShrinkflation will stop. With major corporations getting fined if they don't smarten up and change the way the make and package goods. \n\nI would put a cap on Car insurance for those that have never been in an accident before and lowering the monthly cost by 10% \n\nCondo sizes would have to increase the square footages by a minimum of 10% of the national average to make sure that there is enough room and peaceful environment for those that live in those spaces. \n\nI would ban that you would have to pay additional for parking at every Rental property including lockers, that the property owners purchased during pre construction as well as lower the public parking costs nation wide in parking garages by 20% and cap it. \n\nI would Lower transit costs nation wide by 20% and cap it. \n\nI would bring back texts books and paper to schools so kids read more. Write more. Understand more. Learn more for those in grade 8 and under. \n\nI would ban every Pride event in Canada and charge people fines if they hang rainbow colored Canadian flags anywhere on any property including ban clothing with those colors on the Canadian Flags immediately. Failure to do so would also Ban same sex marriage the following year on the same date that the first ban was made if Failure to comply. \n\nI would ban any book or literature for kids that is LGQTB written. \n\n& that is just the beginning.

Canada, where we are told to go green, while they tear down millions of trees. Where we pay taxes on used items that other people paid taxes on already, In BC, where we pay the highest booze prices, where the working man struggles, while Counceller's and politicians buy $200 wine, on our money. Where heritage houses are torn down, where we are becoming a minority, where land and older homes are disappearing for million-dollar homes with a small patch of grass. Surrey B.C. has become little India. Wildlife murdered through development; no wildlife assessments being done anymore. B.C. the province of monopoly, high car insurance. Where government attacks on the homeless instead of helping. I see more and more homeless and drug usage. More litter in the streets. Canada the socialist country. Canada with laws that protects immorality. Say one bad thing go to jail. Canadian government, they freeze peoples bank accounts. Canada has political prisoners, Tamara Lich (Trucker Convoy). Canada where they sell horses to be slaughtered in other countries, Canada, where dog meat is legal. Canada soon to be another China. Canada one of the most expensive places to live in the world!

The amount of trillions of dollars that you are spending to oppress, subjugate,force and annihilate your fellow people of the book, people of the holy Quran ie Muslims, will still not bring you to your desired objectives....why because your ideology is based on hatred and biased. It is based on things utterly against nature and God....against the teaching of all holy prophets. If you would think the same and like the same for others as you would like for yourself, all the worlds issues would get solved. Remember how would it feel if you were subjected to the hatred, inequality and injustice that you are doing to others? How would you feel if your children are massacred the way you are killing today,everyday? Please make this world a beautiful place to live....Palistinians gave you refuge from tyranny and oppression hundreds of years ago and you are killing the same who once protected you. Bloodshed, hatred and injustice is never a solution to problems. If USA, Israel and other countries together, make a truce that we will never spend anything that harms humanity and will work to support everything that changes life standards and makes life beautiful on earth, the amount of trillion dollars that we spend to kill others...will be enough to feed and clothe and educate and bring happiness to global population...the 8.5 billion people on earth. There should be no borders and no man made restrictions on humans. One global peace and justice system should prevail where everyone is free to travel and live...the law breakers and criminals should be dealt with by a global police force. Each single human being should be protected, loved,taken care of and valued as a human...all are children of Adam and Eve...all deserve to be peaceful,happy and free to practice their own religion. Please stop politics of hatred and bloodshed. The greed for oil, gas, valuable energy resources will eventually destroy our mother earth.....a total destruction for all. We were not sent for such evil things by Allah to this earth.

I was born and raised here. I am doing my exit plan as I cannot afford to live here as young-adult living on my own. The government knew exactly what they were doing when they allowed 9 million people to come here in a short amount of time. How can you provide billions for foreign aid but can't provide basic necessities to your own citizens? I have cut EVERYTHING extra out of my life and even while working a full-time job I cannot survive in my own country. Canada is a country for the elite, cliche style immigrants, and for the ultra wealthy who pass down intergeneration wealth. A failed health care system that provides little to no services at which you pay out of pocket to get access with private health care providers. You can't depend on transit as it is the mercy of the corrupt transportation/commissioners aka unions and the cost of gas is out of this world. I AM SO LUCKY I went to university and graduated when I did because the same degree would have cost 15k-20k more...food is super expensive...renting an apartment is seen as a form of luxury....you have to know someone to get basic things done. What a shameful society...a society that treats immigrants with upmost respect only to turn around looking the other way when it comes to homelessness...the housing crises...lack of employment oppts, gosh I can go on. My brother was lucky enough to move to Dubai and cash in on his savings by investing it into his properties where he pays 0 tax on his salary from his job.

I am a Mexican living in Mexico, I have visited Canada on several occasions and I think it is an excellent place to live. The part I don't understand about this report is: if people are leaving Canada, why is the cost of housing still high? In my opinion, the people who are now leaving Canada realized too late that they cannot afford the standard of living in a country like Canada. The same would have happened if they had emigrated to England, France, the United States or Germany. The phenomenon has more to do with the value of work than with Canada. In the last two decades the value of unskilled work has plummeted, no one can live in a moderately developed country with an unskilled job, to make matters worse, now white collar jobs have also begun to disappear. Society is simply transformed again and the effects of this transformation begin to be noticed first in those countries where life is more expensive.

If these people have no where to live, and can't find jobs to match their skills, why are they allowed to immigrate in the first place? People who already live here can't find jobs or housing. Should we be emigrating to accomodate immigrants? Canada used to be it's own country, and a beautiful place to live and it has gone down the drain. It's disgraceful.

Perhaps I will not name the most popular destination for relocation, but I suggest coming to Russia, there are many positive reasons for this (I take Moscow as an example):\n1) Affordable housing with reasonable prices. The price for a one-room apartment in Moscow, for an apartment with a good renovation will cost you about $500 Plus utility bills with the Internet will be 50%. (The most surprising thing for foreigners is that in winter you can wear a T-shirt and shorts in apartments, and sometimes it will be hot), my cost of heating in a three-room apartment is $35 per month for 95 sq.m.\nDo you want a house? Please! House 435 sq.m. 3 floors for $100,000.\nAre you a young family? Get a preferential mortgage. Got a baby? Get money! A second one appeared. Get even more! Third child? Children's camps, travel card, free school meals, as well as a lot of benefits.\n2) Developed infrastructure, accessible public transport ($30 pass for all types of transport in Moscow and the nearest Moscow region), unlimited travel pass. 783 parks in Moscow, numerous shopping centers, countless child development centers; in winter you can ski and snowboard in these same parks. In general, you will definitely find something to keep yourself busy.\n3) Affordable medicine. Russian citizenship can be obtained after 5 years of permanent residence, BUT foreign citizens have the right to obtain a medical policy for themselves after obtaining a residence permit. The price comes out to be approximately 30-60%, depending on what risk group you are in. After obtaining citizenship, all medicine is free, seriously, a foreigner I know from Australia asked me about this: “What do you mean it’s free?” All this is included in taxes, and the cost is peanuts compared to yours. The level of medicine is high, this is a separate topic for discussion, I don’t know why, but our medical centers are compared with India, this is not so. The current clinics look like Cyberpunk 2077, seriously. In the regions, unfortunately, it is completely different. I worked in the mines of Northern Ontario have had two wives and six children payed high child support and spousal support. But just before I was ready to retire I had no more responsibilities and I got to keep my pension. I brought a house twenty years ago in Newfoundland where I am from and put it in my Mother's name. I am now retired with a payed for home which I heat with a wood cook stove, electric base boards but never need them and have solar panels and wind turbines but I am still hooked up to the grid but my bill is 40 dollars.I don't have internet or Netflix only a cell phone with a 100 gigabytes download.I run my tv off solar power that charges golf cart batteries also have a generator to charge the battery bank .I download off of YouTube and other places to a 1 terabyte hard drive that run thru my laptop and have that backuped . I have a ham radio. 250 gallon water tank just in case the village I live in the water goes out. I have a water flush toilet and a compost toilet. My property has apple trees and very productive raised beds to grow food, I also fish and hunt small game but I buy beef and pork that is free range and grass fed from a local butcher. There are many ATV trails around here, we have a gas station and small grocery store which I try to buy as much as possible from to support local employment. I have a side by side ATV with a nice back box , insurance and gas cost nothing. I used to have a truck but got rid of it because I didn't need it to get around plus I enjoy the ride in the side by side. The only draw back is to many people drink and drive around here and young people on drugs who steal.. I have pension and benefits and traveled for five years before I came back here. I get restless for excitement but remember it's a time to be quiet. Don't crave others company and I am pretty healthy, the only stress I have is to figure out what I am going to do that day. Let me say it, u didn't do ur research before moving abroad, abroad life is not for lazy ppl who don't want to work on their own. Didn't u know how was the life abroad wen u have ur relatives there. And the positions u r saying are voluntary for parents, it's not a job,it's called lunch duty. You didn't try to find how life, society is there. Who asked u to hire a basement, looks like that u weren't financially ok therefore u had to hire a basement. Ppl have nice houses there. I am not Muslim but Canada is still a great country. A Muslim country will be a huge change and it does depend on the country. I lived in Morocco for 2 years and you are judged by your money. Really snobby people. They hate the poor and there are lots of poor people. Cost of Living has also increased. Lovely climate. No job opportunities for young people. I worked in Dubai for 6 months. All bling and only the 20 % have any proper say. Spent a holiday in Oman. Woman still kept back. Also might get caught up in Middle East conflict. Countries like Kuwait/Saudi etc very strict after freedom of Canada. Albania probably would not be strict enough for you. 60% percent Muslim. Had a holiday there about 10 yrs ago. I’m not sure what is meant by “making friends” exactly. In my opinion, finding people you can be open with and trust takes years, no matter where you live on this planet. So, for what it’s worth, I thought Calgarians to be easygoing, Montrealers to be outgoing but click-ish, and people in Ottawa kind of dull (at a social group level). I’ve only spent a couple of weeks in Vancouver as a traveler so I can’t really judge but my sister and a friend who both studied and worked in Vancouver - and who are both outgoing people- found it difficult to crack through social circles in Vancouver. They basically thought that Vancouverites are a little elitist/snobby.

The western liberal democracy provides everything with freedom of choice and that is not something that many orthodox muslim families want - they not only want Islamic values and lifestyle, they want others around them to live these too. This is incompatible and it is excellent that this family is choosing to be where they will truly be happy. this needs courage and conviction. I was a gay kid who ran away to Toronto in 1982, age 17. Minimum wage was $4/hr and a bachelor at Church and Charles was $350, a one bedroom was $400 - $425. I had a relatively successful career as a pianist/entertainer and teacher at the Y. I was never able to purchase, but rented as the real estate prices only lept and bounded as interest rates on savings declined. I can no longer afford to live in TO, but bought a 100 acre farm in Parry Sound District by cutting a cheque. I have no community... and my cohort as all approaching 60... but the Toronto of the 80's and 90's no longer exists. The discos are gone, the kids today have no appreciation of ACT or Casey House or the hell we went through. But, the virus is controlled... I am rambling, but the city is no longer a place where young disenfranchised can go to be free to exist and be themselves. I worry about the kids of today who will never have enough money to leave home and go to where life can happen. And don't tell me that a cell phone is a replacement for a physical, real existence!!

I have been in US for 20 years and can understand the experience that you are sharing. Frankly, countries like US and Canada are not for people who can’t do some basic things on their own. \nPeople leave their families and comfort of their home and come to these countries either to earn money, eventually have a good quality life or to provide a good quality education for their kids. If you don’t have a reason good enough to make that move and keep the option of running back home on facing little hardship then there is no way you can live in these countries. Forget about going and living in other countries you can’t even go and live in another state within India. Do you think it’s easy for a North Indian to go and live in South (or vice versa) where they encounter language and culture barriers? \nYou were in much much better situation as you already had PR and didn’t have to go through stress of handling uncertainty on your visa situation based on job.\nTrust me it takes few years for you to get adjusted to new environment, culture, people, food etc. But, as you spend more and more time in these countries you get more accustomed to way of living here and then you become so comfortable with it that you don’t want to go back at all.\nDon’t want to judge anyone but I guess in your case at your age with family already settled in India you didn’t have a solid enough reason to get out of your comfort zone and give time to get used to such big transition in your life

I have no idea where these people live in Canada. Having said that, some of the comments are so cruel. These people feel unsafe and want to move to a Muslim Majority country. They do not want to live in Canada which is a country where LGBTQ rights are equal to religious rights. So fine, let them go. No need to be mean to them.

Inflation has hit worldwide. Prices surged after COVID with no signs of going down and now we are at a point that we've been anchored to these prices. Sometimes I dissuade myself from the occasional treat. I thought Popeye's was halal in Canada. While I now live in a state with 100,000+ Muslim population, I wish there were a lot more halal eatery options. This is a stark contrast from where I was living in Long Island, New York, where there were close to 30 halal eateries in a 3-mile radius. New York City has now permitted the azaan to be broadcasted over loudspeaker for every week jumu'ah and during Ramazan every maghrib as well. Even with all the halal options and large Muslim neighborhoods, NYC has its own challenges. A designated shoes-off place of worship for all faiths in establishments would be nice, be it malls, superstores, or airports.

Very interesting video, all was well explained. But the situation it's the same here in Europe, and maybe is even worse, in Italy you die of hunger! Salary is so LOW and never changed in more than 20 years, and rent of houses is crazy! It's insanely high and with your salary you can't pay the rent (even if you are a doctor, nurse etc..) you don't have money to buy an house and if you pay a rent you can't spend money on anything else. People here live thanks to their parents savings (who has this luck). The situation is very bad, young people can't find a job because there are no jobs available, it's really hard to live. Cities are dirty and degraded. In public health care you have to wait months and years for a visit, you are forced to go private and pay a lot of money. So I think the situation is serious everywhere. If you know a place where you are paid well and there are no such problems let me know.

As a Canadian, born and raised, I am much more proud to be a Canadian than if I were to be a U.S. or U.K. citizen, given the way they are regarded in most of the word. I have travelled Europe extensively, Central America, as well as parts of SE Asia. \n\nCanada is indeed expensive and has become moreso because we too easily accept the rising prices, just so we can feel good being a Canadian. Tipping culture is ridiculous, even for bad service, many feel the need to tip 15% because of fear of being regarded as a cheapskate or avoiding offending the service provider. Companies should be paying their staff a better wage where 20%+ tips are not expected for every restaurant, cafe or delivery service. We're helping corporations make more profit by subsidizing their staffing expense. This isn't the case in most of the world. \n\nMy eyes were opened when I saw how you can live an equally good life at a third or less of the cost and I have grown open to the idea of living elsewhere once I have enough money to retire early (I'm talking around 55) and enjoy life without feeling cash-strapped. World class private medical care can be found for prices that are unbelievable and without the multiple appointments and wait times.\n\nI will always be a Canadian first, but there is room for a second citizenship or a backup plan should living in Canada become an impossible place to live or retire, unless you begin with a financial advantage. I have lived in many different countries as a Muslim. I have found the perfect balance of Islam, freedom in my day to day life to do things, finding halal, masjids 10-15mins within where I live with programs for my kids and social/educational events. I homeschool my kids and the laws for it are very easy. I absolutely abhor the government though and your no. 1 reason would be mine to leave. However as I explore other options I don’t see options for Muslim country that is easy to naturalize into. \n\nI have joined groups to make future changes through congress and government and trying to learn how I can help with these efforts. I try to imagine what would happen if all the Muslims left these colonizing countries. Boy do they need us yet make us feel like we are powerless.
