I don't think the average viewer knows why the US is doing this. They're trying to combat illegal immigration and fentanyl as well as Mexican compliance with the drug cartels.\n\nThe reason tariffs are being used is because America is in a very powerful position when it comes to trade. The american economy doesn't rely on trade like Canada (67%), Mexico (73%) and China (37%). American trade accounts for only 24% of its massive GDP. if you removed all trade from america, it would still have larger economical output than china, mexico and canada COMBINED. yes. Combined. \n\nFurthermore, Canadian trade with america account for almost 80% of all trade in canada. A 25% increase would be absolutely devastating to canada. In america its about 13% so a 25% increase would cost more but it wont have any significant impact.\n\nNo doubt this tarrif war will cause far more problems for canada mexico and china than america. By a LOT. \n\nI dont think america is being selfish either. China does nothing to protect america from sending precursor chemicals to america to manufacture fentanyl. Canada facilitates illegal immigration and fentanyl into america with no accountability. And mexico is illegal immigrants by the MILLIONS and is literally working with the drug cartels. There is in fact no actual housing shortage in the USA whatsoever. The problem is that that wealthy individuals have strong incentives to park excess capital in real estate and landlords have strong incentives to maintain asset values through cash flow potential (appraised through $/sq.ft rent revenues). What ends up happening in both cases is that you end up with lots of empty houses sitting collecting dust artificially gaining value due to scarcity, and with rentals, you end up with perpetually inflated rents and vacancy rates that are as high as a landlord can tolerate just to maintain the appearance of value to the lenders. Often these owners will borrow more money and use an apartment that might be 40% vacant as the collateral for the lender and go buy another building and so on. What people don't penalize is the fact that that 40% vacant building with 60% rented out at above fair value gets treated on the balance sheet to the bank as if its 90% rented out from an asset value perspective thereby setting the asset price artificially high. Simple legislation of the tax code can fix this issue and unlock lots of sidelined housing. All we have to do is progressively tax 2nd 3rd 4th ect. homes higher and higher rates that essentially cancel out the asset gains, and do something similar for vacant units in a apartment building. \nIts just at the core a case of the rich hoarding something that has been made artificially rare. On top of all of this, because of how valuable properties have become, there are now many interests that capitalize on the entire process of building new housing that make it ever more expensive. Our taxes are funding numerous regulators that stymie new development, while the developers have to then hire numerous attorneys and planners to pitch a project and litigate it through the cities to get approvals. This can take over 10 years in a major city. All this contributes to the ridiculous costs of building these days.

so let's pose a question to all those who seem to just hate the LGBTQIA+ community for whatever their reasons are....if someone who happens to be transgender saves your life, saves the life of one of their team members or perhaps leads an OP to a successful outcome, would you say that they were unqualified after the fact ? would you say that now as the regulations are being changed that they were never qualified to have performed those duties in the past ?? I have Indian friends who support these rejections, as they themselves admit that Indian people often lack discipline and proper manners when travelling abroad. They criticise India for its poor reputation, blaming the behaviour of its citizens. They understand why some countries no longer want to accept more Indians, as they do not want to import poor behaviour or unhygienic practices that conflict with local social norms. The reality is that the Western world is changing and, at last, becoming less politically correct. The next country likely to face scrutiny will be Pakistan, due to the violence associated with its citizens. You may call us racist, xenophobic, or worse, but Westerners no longer care. We want cleanliness, security, and respectful social behaviour in our communities. If you don't want to adhere to these norms and values, then FUCK OFF!

If the task is for the most powerful, most cohesive, most advanced and most feared military - they you don't just have an obligation to arm them as well as you can, you have to look to everything that impacts morale and how the military budget it spent. The efficacy and morale of the military as a whole is the priority as far as setting policy goes. People with flat feet can't join and there's an argument to be made that they're better suited to serve.

I have a lot of sympathy for these people, especially considering many gave up everything they had to pay smugglers to get this far while our government was effectively letting everyone in while offering additional incentives such as money and temporary housing.
