As a US citizen, I appreciate my Canadian friends and neighbors!! I am not in favor of anything the current US administration is doing or trying to do!!

Thank you to everyone from all over the world in support of Canada standing up to Trump. As a Canadian born in N. Ireland who loves the US, and have many friends there, i am emotional reading all these comments especially the us folks, it gives me hope. Im to old and broke down to be in on the front lines, but i will limp my way to fight for this country. We are not for sale.\nELBOWS UP\nPeace from Toronto

I am a Canadian and I love America and the American people. I hope we can put this behind us sooner rather than later there is no need for any tension between us. We always have each other‘s back. With that said, I would like to see Canada step up to certain obligations, including with NATO, but as far as a trade work goes, this is not good.

I did not vote for Trump but I am a shame that Trump is president. Trump purposely destroying Biden’s “Build Back Better” he aligned with Putin. Trump staff Is part of Project 2025. These are the people who wanted a tax break, on the backs of the American people. Prime Minister Trudeau is not our enemy and I accept what he is forced for the Canadian people. We need to vote wisely to end Trump’s dictatorship and there will be 3 seats up in Congress in April.

As a Canadian I am embarrassed at our Prime Minister doing the WRONG thing to prevent this trade war. 10 years of throwing our economy down the drain so he could make money off his fentanyl mega labs. Rebel news did a full investigation of Trudeau's ties to cartels. He's a lying POS and by far NOT a person with any moral fiber.

As a Canadian, even though I have disagreements with our Prime Minister, he is OUR Prime Minister, and I am glad he is so clearly and strongly saying to the US government and US citizens that we are done playing around. We will pull together, as a country, and come out of this stronger. We are willing to take on short-temp pain to work towards finding new markets and diversifying our trade relationships. The Canadian economy is in a stronger position to survive and recover from a trade war than the US. The US Government in general has destroyed one of the most successful and positive economic and social partnerships in the world and neither Canadians, nor the rest of the world are going to forgive and forget.

I am an American and love my country and its people. But TRUMP and Musk and Vance are villains ?! They must be defeated. And they will be stopped. We need to stick close to our neighbors and our friends in the world. Putin is not a friend. I hope our Canadian brothers know we real Americans want cooperation and friendship, not a trade war.

We do not need any Canadian products. Tariffs will work, we have natural resources gas, oil, minerals. do not need you. Critical minerals. that's a joke. We have all the fertilizer we need. So I am not sure what he is talking about. Its time to bring the auto makers home, Its time to bring all our jobs back home. The canadians are tired of him as well and he is out in October and the conservative party will win just like in the US. People are tired of the left agenda.

You have threatened our democratically elected government, natural resources, economy and personal freedom. By electing “that person” as your leader and aligning with authoritarian dictatorships like Russia, you have threatened not only Canada and Ukraine but world peace. You have threatened your own economic and personal freedom. Prime Minister Trudeau spoke succinctly in a comprehensible way to let you, the american people, know the seriousness of your choice. If you understand what you have done and realize the implications, then peacefully protest (if that is still allowed with your evolving fascist/populist/authoritarian government). Contact your local, state/territorial and federal government officials. You can let your governors, senators and representatives know that you do not agree with the government’s actions and the subsequent hardship it will impose not only on the world but on you, your family and neighbours. Make change happen in a peaceful, non violent manner, while you still can. We didn’t ask for nor want this absurdly unnecessary confrontation but when attacked, we will fight our old friends and historic allies. Elbows up Canada!

As a Canadian, I am not a fan of Trudeau, but he spoke well and thoughtfully today.

Prime Minister, I have not voted for you three times. I have not really agreed with your policies since you came to power. I have even thought that you did not know when to make a 'dignified departure. And now today when you have literally five days left before you step off the dais for good, I listen to you and am proud. As an American in California who had a family cottage in beautiful Ontario for 12 years and was welcomed by so many Canadian friends I am appalled by the American president who is a traitor. The Canadian paid for it however it was my one and only sale there. So how is that fair for me? How is that fair to us?

I am Canadian, and I want to speak to the USA, as a concerned citizen who valued the relationship that we once had between our two countries: please realize that we do NOT want to declare this as any form of “attack”, that these are solely defensive measures against your current administration’s lack of respect towards us as a people and as a country. \n\nPlease rest assured that we KNOW that not all of you voted for Trump, that there are those of you who realize what your current president is truly doing and do not support it. I am a Canadian living in the states and, Living very good off of what I get from the states for I have not worked in 27 years because of an injury. The U.S.A. has been better to me than the country I am a citizen of Canada. All my life my very large family in Canada come here to the states and goes home with the bumper or trailer hitch hitting the ground for it would be overloaded with products from the states because it cost so much less here.

Alberta, Canada: I just returned from shopping and I am happy to say that I managed to spend CAD $450 on groceries without spending a single cent on American products! I buy a lot of organic items and many of them come from California. But putting in the time today at the store and reading labels, I realized that there is a Canadian/Mexican/European equivalent for everything I need ; )

I see a lot of traitors in here in the comment section praising Trudeau and siding with Canada. I am neither American nor Canadian but in times like this you should stand with your fellow countryman.

I am a Canadian with close family in the U.S. Unfortunately even if the tariffs are reversed and the rhetoric tones down I don't see Canadians trusting the U.S. again anytime soon. A fundamental connection has been broken.

Even though we as Americans might disagree with President Trump, we have to stand firm on some things here, the way PM Trudeau came on here and reversed this tariffs on the US after all we done with this is still an attack on us, we have to think broader and wider, I am a 22 year retired Navy vet and seen how these countries treat us and we have been taken advantage of, it’s time we stand firm. As a Canadian I am embarrassed, ashamed and fearful! Everything that this idiot spews forth is just pure drama. All President Trump wanted was for Canada to take care of the drug problem that has killed so many. Maybe he should discuss the constant duty fees and border crossing fees for anything shipped from Canada to the USA that have been constantly rising for years; fees that his very own government sets. Maybe he should talk about Canada demanding that anyone that sells anything foodwise to anyone in Canada from the USA has to have a special Safe Food For Canadians Food License or the goods being shipped will be rejected at the US owners cost, seized by the border and held in storage at the US owners cost, and destroyed and billed to the US owner. A license that no one actually needs considering other legal and ethical controls are in place to prevent unsafe foods from crossing the border, but Canada reserves the right to make us pay for one or we suffer consequences. Maybe he should discuss how they left their borders open to migrants, making it much easier for criminal migrants to get into the US. Maybe he should understand that the US has always been bleeding money to Canada on a trade level for about half a century with it getting much worse in the last decade because Canada's government are greedy. Before any of you come at me, keep in mind I work in the food ingredient industry as an order processing, logistics and customs & border crossing and have done so for 15 years. These tariffs were a long time coming and if any of you are on the inside of trade in the manner I am, then you know what I'm saying is true. The US is constantly paying additional tariffs by way of duty fees, customs fees, certain applied taxes (like there is literally a blueberry tax to ship US grown blueberries into Canada to prevent US blueberries from taking over the Canadian blueberry market). The blueberry tax is about 25cents per lb. which drives the price per lb. up for the seller and buyer. You wanna know why Food costs so much? All of the above with a huge side helping of GREED.
