It props up the economy numbers with population. So the numbers look good on paper but eventually just like printing money it has inflated the cost of everything. A smaller contracting economy for fewer people is still a nice play to live. What is the goal? Canada was 27 million in the 90's to 2000, then it was boom 33 million to 38 in the last ten years. Whats the goal 200 million people ? I thought 30 was great, now its like may24 weekend busy every weekend.

Now we are 4.5million family residences in arrears in a country that only has about 14.5million residences. So the idiot, Trudeau thinks if he tosses a little stimulus money around, which he borrowed and which taxpayers now have to pay interest on, that every 3 households in Canada will be able to kick in enough money to build an extra house, while also paying their mortgage. Canada has the highest population in its history now yet our gdp is declining.Milllions of immigrants yet our economy is dying.Its been 54 years of multicultralusm where's the part where we are supposed to see the big payoff??? If immigrants can make a country wealthy why didnt they do that back in their own country? I moved to Canada as a child with my parents 41 years ago. It isn't just inflation and cost of living that is the problem. It's the dramatically increasing racism and discrimination, even against people who have been living in this country longer than the racists discriminating against them. Seriously? This is not the Canada that I came to as a child, grew up in, or have lived and worked in for many decades. I made the mistake of working around the world for a short time and picking up an accent that wasn't even mine originally. I had a Canadian accent before finishing elementary school. To come back to be asked to go home or 'we don't want your sort here' is not just simple racism, but hatred that makes me regret ever having agreed to taking on Canadian citizenship. My kids and grandchildren have Canadian accents and were Canadians from birth. But should they leave and return to the same crap??? What disgusts me more is that the PM dares to include immigrants with refugees, under the banner that 30% of the population are immigrants. Under the law, refugees are temporary migrants and usually nothing more. To bundle immigrants who came to Canada through legal means of applications, brought hundreds of millions dollars into Canada with them of their own hard-earned money from their own countries, to have it taxed out of them, and their families deliberately put into poverty so Canada can fulfil its 19th century-PM Macdonald immigration policy of, and I quote from a Canadian federal government website, quoting PM Macdonald directly, about breeding out the Indigeneous people, is beyond sick! The refugees get a free ride at the expense of hard-working Canadians, 90% of whom came from immigrant stock! What happens when Trudeau says these deceitful lies about legal immigrants is that the racism and discrimination increases dramatically. I have been left in agony in hospital due to evil racist Canadians who thought that my accent meant that I had just flown in yesterday and what right did I have to be there? Police refused to charge a neighbor whose son was threatening the life of my grandchild because the neighbor works for the CRA! Other people have the same complaints. Democracy? What democracy, oh, and please spare us Mr. Trudeau the claim to be a constitutional monarchy, when most don't want the monarchy as a head of state for Canada! I have been honored to have known, still know, and will know in the future, many good, hard-working, caring and decent Canadians, but Mr. Trudeau, can you explain to me, how many of those were actually of immigrant stock and how many have forgotten where their families came from? Canada used to be a good country, but when a person has to keep explaining where they got their job experience from and if they have any Canadian experience for every time that they look for a job in their lifetime in Canada, something is very wrong with Canada. Most jobs in Canada are blue collar and very few are white collar, yet Canada still continues to deceive the world into believing otherwise. Canada is a great vast and beautiful land, but only a small percentage of it has any infrastructure, roads, or homes sufficient to house what is a decreasing fraction of society. Refugees take preference over immigrants and citizens alike. The lie about the homeless is getting bigger. Most homeless Canadians today are veterans, elderly, disabled, mentally ill, poor, and professionals and trades people, yet Canada brings in countless professionals, claiming that their education and experience will get them into the professions that they are coming from. It's all a scam! Canadian education is not the best and yet people with better educations and job experience are being forced to spend all their money to go back to university or college to get jobs that they rarely will be hired for. Canada is not short of doctors, just short of professionals who hire professionals without using discrimination, hatred and racism for their HR kit! Many taxi drivers are doctors, engineers, and so on. So, please stop lying to the world and tell the truth. And no doubt this entry will be taken down because it offends a Canadian who doesn't want the world to know the truth.

The homeless population is 99% made up of people born in Canada. Immigrants are working two jobs, some outperforming the ones born here. A lot of them doing jobs “Canadians” don’t want to do. The housing crisis has more to do with the restrictive zoning laws that make it hard to build new housing, which benefits the few billionaires who own the few construction companies allowed to operate. Blaming immigration is simply being intellectually lazy.

I came here as an international student, back then you could only get your PR if you studied at an accredited university, not a career college. Back then skilled workers were required, and that is how you were able to get a PR. Canada has changed so much, multicultural has left and more and more there are two cultures dominating. I came here because I use to visit for our annual holidays then decide I liked the culture and wanted to study here. The landscape has shifted , Canadians will soon be the minority and that is not the Canada I want to be paying taxes in. \nThere are always protesters waving foreign flags demanding that the government help their families, love ones in another country, meanwhile Canadians here are loosing their homes , can't afford food, basic life necessities and living in tents. Charity should start at home first.\nResponsible tax payers cannot afford to have kids, why because the taxes we pay are too high, if we're struggling to survive why would we subject a child into this world to experience the same. However, there are millions of dollars in incentives for people who never paid in to come to Canada with their extended family members who are dependent on government support, that we the taxpayers have to finance. The aging population could be address if the affordability could be address for citizens living here and PAYING taxes. If the government wants to bring in aging populations who never worked in Canada, their families should be funding their living here including healthcare, not taxpayers. Invest in your people first , help Canadians become more skilled to fill positions that there are shortages, lower taxes to allow Canadians to have said families and replenish the population , these are the people who would always put Canada first.

I may receive a lot of criticism for my opinion, but I feel compelled to share my experience as a resident and worker in this country. I immigrated to Canada from Ukraine in 2022 and have since been living and working in Winnipeg. This country has offered me numerous opportunities, even though I do not hold high-ranking positions. My wife and I are able to save a bit of money for unforeseen expenses. Just when I started to feel settled and thought that things were going quite well, I encountered numerous videos claiming the opposite, particularly highlighting the scarcity of affordable housing. \n \nDespite the prevalence of such content, my personal experience differs. I pay $725 for housing with a salary of $2.3K, which I find to be a reasonable balance. Some might say I was fortunate, but affordable housing ranging from $800 to $1000 is readily available in Winnipeg, and this is just one city's example; there are many other cities across Canada. \nFrom my perspective, the issue of housing affordability is overstated and not solely attributable to the country's policies. Such scenarios can occur in any nation if half the population desires to reside within 4% of its land area (namely, Toronto and its vicinity), leading inevitably to soaring prices – that's simply economics. \n \nIt's not my place to dictate how Canadians should live, but it appears to me that the crux of the problem lies in the uneven distribution of the population. As the second-largest country globally, Canada can comfortably accommodate 40 million people or even significantly more. However, this necessitates a collective understanding that concentrating the population in a single city may not be the most prudent approach.

Canada is awesome, of course it's not perfect, but it's a fabulous place to live (if you can find affordable housing)! Our healthcare is phenomenal and maybe even too good. Medicine is intervening where it shouldn't and probably extending lives that shouldn't be extended. We have an aging population because our birth rate is low. But people need to take responsibility for their health. Most of the inflammatory diseases we all suffer from are preventable and our clinics are congested with people with very minor ailments who likely wouldn't be there if they were paying out of pocket for the visit. Gay marriage is legal, we eliminated the penny, we finally banned single use plastics, we don't throw money at space exploration or on our military, one year maternity leave, the Canadian Pension, the old age pension- so many government programs, everyone has access to free healthcare and it took a little too long, but we have MAID, we'll help you die if you're sick so you don't need to suffer. And where I live, we legislated out daylight saving time back in the 70's cuz it's stupid.

It's not a housing bubble. A bubble is when investors overvalue a commodity. Even taking into account speculative property purchases, housing isn't overvalued in Canada. It is where it is because that is where the market has found the balance between the high demand and the low supply. There simply isn't enough housing being built to accommodate a million more people a year. We need to build more lower and middle-class housing. As a student of both history and architecture, I can tell you we've been here before and we dealt with it, and we can again. This situation is both a result of many factors that could and couldn't be centrally controlled. Things that couldn't be controlled: Covid and a spike in retirement rates, an aging population, low profit margins for builders, and inflation (that last one is not so easy for a central bank to control as many people seem to think it is). Factors that could be controlled: Zoning laws and bylaws, linking immigration to the amount of housing available and being built, government greed for foreign money to balance their books, short-sighted politicians of all stripes, underfunding of post-secondary education, and lack of government incentives to make building worthwhile for contractors. I've probably missed some things, but the point is that this is not an intractable predicament, and good leadership, good ideas and the will to make things happen can get us out of it.

When I migrated to Canada 30 years ago, this was a different country. This country could integrate foreigners without causing problems for the native people here. It was a moderate number of between 200 to 300 thousand for a population of 30 million The problem is that Canada has more people over 65 years old than young people, subtracting the number of born about 320 vs 220 who die every year, there would be no population growth that could pay for the retirements of the retired people and immigration in the correct numbers was something positive for the economy the problem is a broken immigration system too many without infrastructure and let me tell you a lot of them arrive and in less than a year they leave I think that Canada should not receive anyone anymore for the next 20 years until it fixes houses crisis

Toronto isn't the homeless capital of Canada. It has the highest population, so it has the most unhoused people, but on a per capita basis, it's almost certainly on par or behind smaller towns of 500k to 1M people.\n\nThis is also an issue that has many causes and a few of those causes are related to global issues, not domestic.

Population will always cause problems , Canada does not have the infrastructure to accommodate this many immigrants. Trudeau is a loser and he has single handily put Canada into a total crisis. Mass immigration is part of the Trudeau liberal agenda, the large influx of cheap labor will decrease wages and this in turn will lower the standard of living for all Canadians. India is one of the few countries in the world which has a huge surplus population that can supply Canada with an endless amount of cheap labor. The Trudueau liberals have no interest in the well being of Canadians, they only serve the interests of corporations.

Canada does not have a shortage of people for labour; Canada has a shortage of educated people who can perform. Our education systems are an abject failure that have produced a generation of citizens who are not prepared to work. Our students understand their LGBTQs but can barely comprehend ABC123s or what a T4 is, much less write them down. Our shortages are knowledge and skill, not population.

Why has canada embarked on this path of mass immigration ? And why USA did the same ? And why Europe did the same before us ? I am almost out of words. It make no sens. There is only one reason why a country need to have the biggest population and it is WAR. Wars have always been won by the country or regrouping of countries that had the biggest population.

The man interviewed at the end is why our son left the country for Europe after graduating from Queens. Canadians are addicted to immigration to stay relevant in a way not seen in other countries. Here in Halifax the changes are both stunning and alienating as the premier seeks to double the province's population by 2060. My family and I immigrated from the U.S. 20 years ago, and I doubt any of us will remain here much longer. Living in Canada has made me realize how Canadian I am not. I actually stand for something. Canada's future is mass immigration and digging things out of the ground and selling them to China and the US.

It has been obvious for a while now that immigration of any kind is no longer beneficial to Canada or in many cases for the immigrant. Housing is out of control expensive and the health care system has deteriorated to alarming levels as there are not enough doctors or nurses or beds to handle the preseent population. Now the prices for food, fuel and most other things have become increasingly expensive and with inflation and interest rates being a concern the issues are pressing from every direction. To be blunt, we do not need any more people entering the country for a few years until more housing can be built, more hospitals can be built, more doctors and nurses hired and inflation and interest rates brought under control. There is evidence that the economy is going to join the party as far as things to worry about and available jobs could lessen, not a good thing.

This has nothing to do with immigrants, China, the US, Japan, etc. have a higher population than Canada and are smaller in size. Complaining about issues won't solve them but just makes it worse. Out of my own experiences, I believe the Canadian policy makers should step up on major issues. \nReal estate, health, evaluating skilled immigrants, monopolism, and inflation. \nThey can't blame 1.5 million newcomers for problems of 38 million people.

Canada is short 5.8 million homes. CMHC and builder's association latest number were around 3 million, but that low number was assuming a population of 38 million people. Canada has almost 41 million people.\nIf Canada can build it's way out of this mess, there are 100s of thousands of construction jobs available. The demand for housing is there, the government just needs to get out of the way. All the municipal, provincial and federal red tape is leaving Canada a quagmire for builders.\nCanada could be booming with all that demand. You have to see what happened around the world,without going too far , the USA have a big problem with homelessness, 100 times more than Canada , obviously Canada is only 10% of the American population, our system in the hospital are treated in accordance to the grade of injuries the more severe are look after before your broken arm, over someone hurt in a car accident , so the attention goes to the more serious issues, but still you get care regardless how long you been waiting , unlike the USA sent you home if you don’t have health insurance,credit card , or cash to look after your problem , they will direct you to the emergency were you can wait for hours behind dozens of people waiting to see a doctor, some people had died waiting to see a doctor, our system is not perfect but nobody will let you died because you have no insurance ,money , or credit card , \nWhy people are leaving the country , is because the cost of living has skyrocketing to the point of no return , if you can only work to pay your rent and eat poorly, but with no possibility to save for the future it’s a wasting time to stick around ,and the people coming to Canada will find our system is not perfect and the image of Canada is tannish , but only people with highly educated will find they pathway to a high standards of living if you can make over 90.000 dollars and 180.000 for working couples in high demand

Canada's Student population doubled in 3 years and Canada went from 7th highest Foreign Student Population per capita to 2nd, so the Canadian Student housing situation worsened quickly. So the Trudeau Government put a cap on Foreign Students and offered low interest loans to Universities to immediately expand Student housing. Canada has seen NO drop in citizen applications and still refuses far more applications then it approves. So with even Canada's low birth rate still combined with immigration Canada's population is the fastest growing per capita of Western Democracies at an annual population increase of over 1 million people a year. So the Headline about Citizen applications which had nothing to do with the story of Foreign Students.\nAlso I want to add they stated that the gentleman had set up a business to bring home students from Canada when in the interview he stated that Canada was only one of the Countries but stating it the true way is less dramatic and doesnt fit their Narrative. Yes. Canada is not like what used to be as a good country to immigrate to in mid or late 1970s. Unfortunately, job opportunities, salary, wages have not kept us with high cost of living in cities like Toronto and Vancouver. Also, road infrastruture have not kept 12:12 up with population growth. People should do research, check out more before immigrating to Canada these days. If you are moving to Canada for peace and political stability, then yes. Otherwise, think twice! Also, the requirement for Canadian employers to ask for Canadian experience has existed since at least the 70s. But it is absurd and stupid for employers to ask job applicants for Canadian experience since the world is highly interconnected through internet these days. Provided you are working in western world or English speaking countries, job functions and management styles are basically very similar whether it is high tech industry, banking, investment companies etc.

Funny thing, Halifax is bursting at the seams with new arrivals. It’s expected to double in size in the next decade. There’s another ethnic grocery store opening every week. Our population has grown by 10 million people in 20 years, largely due to immigration. Toronto is bursting at the seams and is the most polyglot city on the planet. I have noticed a lot of these whiny videos by immigrants who say it’s no good to move here. I think they are not telling the truth about the tsunami of immigration going on here in Canada right now. Trouble is, there’s not enough housing for the 40 million people here right now. There’s not enough doctors, nurses, hospitals, social services/workers to service our present population. Still, the government flaps its gums about wanting 100 million people here by 2100. If that’s true, southern Ontario will look like Tokyo. There has to be a reevaluation of putting the majority of new arrivals in the GTA. If people want to move here, they should be willing to go to smaller cities and towns across the country.

Canada is a country that is built on middle class where a large part of the population are within the same earning range. There are positives to this, less crime, there is not a huge disparity between rich and poor which makes for a more sane environment don’t get me wrong, we still have our crime rate. Now you can see that the professional programs are limited compared to other countries in the universities and highly competitive so that you don’t have so many professionals with high earning power thereby creating a huge disparity. On the other hand, these high earners don’t get a tax return, get any govt cheque, their kids don’t get huge amounts for OSAP instead, they get billed to pay back the govt and that’s how those of you complaining now where able to get govt cheques when you just relocated, support low income homes and newly landed immigrants. There’s free health, good Ammenities, snow is cleared, the roads are salted and de iced, free Education, govt loans and school loans that’s where your tax money goes to. Everyone has an accent that’s your identity why will you feel somehow or intimidated when you are told you have an accent that’s being timid say yes I have an accent it’s African or Caribbean etc. About racism it’s rare never experienced it that’s not saying it doesn’t happen but am gonna call you out if it’s obvious I have been profiled. Yes the weather is harsh did you not look at your map before relocating ?? In all most of these complaints are individual experiences so I won’t invalidate it but don’t trash what you gained from. Retraining and certification is a must especially when you are coming from a certain country and it’s not a bad idea. Am in healthcare and retraining is a must if you didn’t school here cos it’s entirely different talk about work ethics, equipments, software, differentiation in policies, health laws and malpractice laws.\nLook at the brighter side of life and stop complaining migration has its pros and cons position yourself in a place to have a good life, go back to school, get certified, keep retraining and adding value to your certificate.

Canada has unlimited immigration. total open door, so we are completely overwhelmed and unable to cope with unfettered population growth, without the infrastructure to handle it. we are in decline and on a path towards a very poor standard of living.

The US has more employment opportunities NOT because of population size. It has more opportunities because of industrial diversification. Canada is very much a natural resource centered economy, rather than being more vertically integrated. Take a look at the 10 richest Canadian families to get an appreciation of that. Couple this natural resource dependence with Trudeau’s attack on the petroleum industry, and you can see why jobs are drying up.

Inflation has hit worldwide. Prices surged after COVID with no signs of going down and now we are at a point that we've been anchored to these prices. Sometimes I dissuade myself from the occasional treat. I thought Popeye's was halal in Canada. While I now live in a state with 100,000+ Muslim population, I wish there were a lot more halal eatery options. This is a stark contrast from where I was living in Long Island, New York, where there were close to 30 halal eateries in a 3-mile radius. New York City has now permitted the azaan to be broadcasted over loudspeaker for every week jumu'ah and during Ramazan every maghrib as well. Even with all the halal options and large Muslim neighborhoods, NYC has its own challenges. A designated shoes-off place of worship for all faiths in establishments would be nice, be it malls, superstores, or airports.

One of the problems that perennially gimps our economic development is our low population relative to Canada's geographical size. This means that there are fewer people available to contribute to economic growth, particularly in vital sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture and services. As a result, it can hinder trade, transportation, and overall connectivity within the country.\n\nAdditionally, a smaller population means a smaller local market. Domestic demand for goods and services may not be as robust as what we would find in our neighbor to the south, which can limit growth opportunities for businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises. This can discourage investment and innovation, as companies may find it difficult to achieve the economies of scale needed to compete globally.\n\nThen you have the shortage of skilled labor in certain sectors. With fewer people available, finding qualified professionals, particularly in specialized fields, can become challenging. This can lead to a brain drain, where talent and expertise emigrate to other countries - again, like the United States - depriving Canada of vital skills and knowledge.\n\nFinally, our low population has a negative impact upon the government's revenue base, limiting the amount of revenue generated through taxation. This can constrain government spending on infrastructure (particularly in the energy sector - when was the last time we built a nuclear power station?), public services (e.g. health care), and social programs, which are crucial for economic development and societal well-being.

Consider moving to Kosovo-it is a majority Muslim population that is western oriented but also traditional in a cultural sense (not necessarily a religious sense). Although it is majority Muslim, there are secular Muslims as well as Catholics and Orthodox Christians who live in peace. You can hear the call to prayer five times a day and see observant Muslims without it being all consuming like somewhere in the Middle East. Since you are from Canada, you might find it a little suffocating to move to some place like Saudi Arabia, even if you are observant Muslims. Finally Kosovo has a very cheap cost of living, many people speak English, and you can be on the beaches of Greece within a few hours drive. Probably not on your radar so just a thought.

Canada is not one place - 2 nd biggest country in the world in area, with 13 totally different province's, one area code in the GTA has more population then Western Canada, so one cant paint a single brush stroke to talk about Canada. At present time the whole world is going through changes, look at USA - globalization is changing, look at England dropping out of EU. One cant just say Canada like its one place, Quebec, BC and Alberta have nothing in common, three different countries not one. Different issue's , cultures and languages. Even our first Nations have different cultures, the Haida are not the Mohawks. Its the same with each province. Globalization has reached its current course, right now the Chip market is changing, and so is the whole world. Its not just a Canada issue but a global issue

Canada has become a joke in the past few years. The tax collected is wasted on all unproductive stuff. Only a few cities where most of the population is concentrated resulting in a super high cost of living. It's not worth it any more.

We have to bring in hundreds of thousands of temporary foreign workers from Mexico just to be able to harvest. They worked all the time doing every kind of imaginable job in every kind of condition. They built this country with their perseverance and hard work. The immigrants today, are selected on a points-based system, and the idea behind this is that someone with two university degrees, or trained in a profession, even if they don't work in their field in Canada because they're all sorts of barriers to transferring your education, are not very likely to be criminals or antisocial types. Since they have absolutely no training. In most parts of the world you finish high school and you have a trade, or you have some skill to begin working, the kids here know nothing. Nothing. Other than emotional safety, intersectional language, and wokeism. On top of that, the government has brought in every kind of environmental restriction and regulation on account of incredibly loud, but actually small minority of enviro lunatics, who most of the time use these environmentalism as a cover precisely for protecting their high property values in very luxurious and special places around the country, and they oppose logging and all sorts of resource extraction under the guise of environmentalism. But it's actually to preserve their special privileged position often in some wilderness or island, where they might be the only one or a handful of families who got lucky to somehow own a property. Immigration is also putting pressure on the health care system and education system. \n\nNow if there has been a lot of inflation it is partly because the country is rich and many people have lots of money. Yes there are people suffering from the situation but believe, the shopping centres are full of people, the restaurants are full, etc. Life is still very good for those people that have been smart with their money.
