It's kind of unfortunate but I really do believe we need a private group of citizens to go out and start hunting these illegal immigrants in the desert leaving swathes of bodies strewn across the land. The hipocresy of American politics is just too much, on one hand they will give you the idea of resolving the border issue, on the other some work to get money in their pockets by cartels and other criminal organizations worldwide like isis, and on the other killing the economy by not making the illegal immigrants work like Florida. I can't believe you came up with this comparison when Americans are in general much poorer than Canadians. And American cities are collapsing with people looking daily Stores and complaining about business overworking them for a mere survival pay.

As a citizen, I am very tired, and seeing those central Americans, South Americans, Haitians, Cubans, Europeans, Asians, and Middle Easterns come to Mexico to USA. There is no way to get in the US/Canada because you need to have legitimate valid papers. Especially to Central Americans and Venezuelans, they need to follow the laws. My parents came to the USA more than 50 years ago, and with proper documents. And for people who believe and blame Mexicans for taking their jobs. Don't! I know some do not have the legal papers, BUT blame the ones who don't follow the laws!!!!

My father moved to Canada as a five-year-old shortly after WW2… shortly after that, when he was 12, he moved to the US with my grandparents to make more $$.. shortly after that, Vietnam broke out and believe it or not people in the country on work visas, children got drafted…so my father went to beautiful British Columbia where I was born.. and thank God my dad disobeyed American orders or I wouldn’t exist…☝????

These people are demanding without any respect to the American laws... unbelievable! Believe it not the U.S. and other countries are partly to blame for this, with the help of corrupt officials in these South American countries. Mexico has invested 100 million dollars in South America creating jobs and helping small businesses, so people have jobs and don’t have the need to leave their countries. Mexico ask the U.S. to at least match that amount and it refuse. You might argue that that’s not the United States problem, well it’s not Mexico’s either but everybody has to help. Especially when you are going down there opening mines and displacing farmers .

As a fully disabled American citizen with a child that doesn't even get $1,000 a month and there's no available housing at all where I live no waiting list to go on people on SSI disability don't get any extra housing help we're not offered separate housing are put on separate lists and low-income Able Body people or the migrants jumping the Border but I was born and raised here paid taxes and worked until my body literally couldn't anymore but I don't hear anybody bitching and screaming and crying about the fact that my son and I would be on the streets if it hadn't been for one of my family members stepping up and giving his housing after a lifetime restraining order issued during my pregnancy on my son's biological do do with domestic abuse situation. I'm also US citizen that spent time in the Wards in Houston and projects and other cities and if you don't think that we don't have the same gun violence drug trafficking human trafficking gangs take it over cartels taking over neighborhoods and communities than you're freaking lying to yourself and everybody else. The same s*** that's taken over these countries is taking over the inner cities have been for decades and these are the same communities that most of these people will end up in. I am an American. I am looking to relocate to Canada because of the bad experiences I have had as a California Licensed Structural Engineer with 25+ years of experience. This US license is really difficult to obtain because the exam has a 25% pass rate. In California, it is much tougher because of the earthquakes the state experiences.\n\nInstead of being treated with respect for having this Structural Engineer License, I have been treated badly by structural engineering firms in the US. In the US, you can be fired for no reason at all. They use Performance Improvement Plans to lay me off because I am much smarter than the people I work with. Licensed Structural Engineers do not have job security - so expect to work only a few months.\n\nIn the US, you will have a job for 4 months because your boss has decided to hire someone cheaper and give himself a raise. This happened to me at the City and County of Denver.\n\nLicensed Structural Engineers do not have job security at all because employers do not care about their employees. With workplaces like that, the US is not the place to be. American is not the greatest nation when you have morons like Harry Dunn and Lloyd Christmas from the movie Dumb and Dumber running things! Americans are downright stupid! That is why I am considering relocating to Canada.\n\nI started taking structural engineering courses at the University of British Columbia so I could better myself and get some Canadian experience. In the US, this cannot happen because Americans do not believe in bettering your professional career opportunities. In American companies, you can get fired for getting more education. It is really interesting doing these courses because I am learned alot of different engineering skills that they do not teach in the US. Plus I will be getting an award from Canada.

Health Care\nGo visit a country that has a much better health care than Canada, such as China for a cheaper price, you get to travel and fix your health, problem solved. \n4. Technology.\nI think we can all agree that techonology is the reason our societies are fucked up. You can never have enough high tech, you can also never not have tech.\n5. Tax is a bitch in Canada, this one just straight up sucks unless if you're super rich and has a corporation, That means you can easily get around it as well. So don't be a middle class I guess?\n6. Employment sucks here, but it depends on your field, some fields pay pretty well, you just don't get the best of anything in Canada. Toronto however has the most fields meaning you can change your career without moving to another city like you do in any other city around the world.\n7. Housing is a bitch in Canada. \nBut the solution is to move to a smaller city or get a job that you work from home. \n\nIf you're not able to find solutions to these problems, don't come to Canada, leave the country if you're here and move to North Korea or any country that doesn't have captalism. Lives over there are more simple, and stop believing the lies your fake news media tells you. Those countries aren't evil, no country could be as evil as the British, Americans and its allies in 1000 years if they tried. You live on a stolen land called Canada (USA and etc) ran by criminals who are here to enslave you. What did you expect your life would be like?

Why don't you guys move to Africa where you will see abundance of black people, or go to Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Philippines where Asians can feel accommodated, come to Nigeria where you will pay almost 40% if your salary as direct tax and many other indirect taxes and VATs to be paid from your Lilliput salary which doesn't have hope if growing, where your tax is being squandered by the leaders and not a single infrastructure is built, come to Nigeria and come and see super queue at hospitals, schools, banks etc that are not even used by the leaders, even if you school outside Nigeria you don't have automatic employment until you write the exams or your profession in which you have to study for, maybe you ladies should come back to Africa, you better appreciate where God gives you the opportunity to have a meaningful life, 80% if Africans are not even average but far below average yet you are complaining of living a simple average life, are all Americans billionaires, our brains have been destroyed that we believe until we are billionaire before we ate successful or fulfilled, in Nigeria only government gives you one month leave but private organization only gives two weeks in a year and the private organizations are the largest employer of labor in Nigeria. All those reasons are totally invalid, in fact Canada suits my nature

I agree that it is boring, cold, expensive, high tax high services, I mean people didn’t work for a year and got paid plenty for nothing. Taxes are incremental based on income as they should be. Coming from a major Latin American city, you have no idea what it is to live under fear of assault or harm at any moment, having corrupt politicians, police, and people in general. You are privileged having been born here because it is much easier to make a living, with good laws, you should go to places where people drink on the streets and pee and shit everywhere. I’m sure there are better places in the world but you will never feel like at home, and each place will have it’s own difficulties. I don’t think we all need to live in the same place but don’t believe that you are able to move to any place in the world if you weren’t Canadian.

A compelling documentary, thank you. Why is it that black people continue to be so demonised and de-humanised? It is such a shame that follow Asians and even American Natives play such a role in perpetuating racism against African descent people, but I guess they have their issues of identity. Real shame nonetheless, but one thing at the time, we still have a bigger hurdle to overcome.\n \nOf course, it is still not easy to be a black woman, man or child today. Sadly our mothers are still crying for their children being killed or overly punished by the police institution, our kids are still targeted if not simply despised for being beautiful, bright, talented, lively and brilliant beings with deeper skin tonalities, and hair that speaks for us otherwise. It is still dangerous because there is so much hatred across the world against us as we are coming to understand. And hatred is unpredictable. It comes in different ugly shapes. \n\nAfrican descent people are institutionally exposed to a lack of opportunities based on race, leading to the disproportionate poverty levels in our communities, and poverty brings your far closer to crime. That should not be so difficult to calculate. We're faced with higher mortality and disease rates, covid 19 has rubbed that to our eyes, care systems medical world is in less favour and neglect black communities. On a day-to-day, I am so insulted about the security guard that follows me in the shop, it is so disrespectful and embarrassing, that makes me move suspiciously indeed, yet so low and ignorant I don't even want to have to confront the issue. \n\nI agree with the writer who writes about his experience (and shame?) of being a black man in Canada- the same is institutionally reflected in Europe and across the world let's not be naive, we're not welcome but they should know they have no choice. I believe what he really is trying to express is based on the fear of being a black man in a hostile environment, but we should certainly have nothing to be ashamed of. \n\nOn contrary, we should be very proud because we are still here, like any other citizens paying our taxes and playing positive roles in society by major. We have positive role models are everywhere, from the single mother raising her children with force and determination to the black father who teaches at a local school, from the black girl who's achieved top grades to university to the black young man who's been headhunted from the medical school. And all of us who are just trying. \n\nLook closely. This is scary and I’m sure she’s so disgusted and scared why is it that people believe it’s ok to target and attack people because of their race and because they have no interest in them sexually people continue to disrespect and attack Asian Americans because of their race and because of a disease that doesn’t even come from a certain race.

I'm a Dominican and I do not believe in racism but people actions are to blame. I was a security guard and I overwhelmingly caught 49 African American and 2 latinos so as a latino I don't discriminate I just observe the way people act in public..misjudge an individual for the mistakes of others is wrong

Psychology student here. In the interest of accurate information, I would like to point out some flaws I find with some of the studies in this documentary and question the conclusions reached. I understand that CBC Marketplace are not personality psychologists and therefore cannot be expected to produce the same quality of work as a scientist. However, I think it is worthwhile to think critically about the information in the media that we consume. I am also open to anyone who wants to engage in debating the contents of this documentary.\n\n\nThe following are some notes I took while watching the documentary outlining the individual hypotheses of the studies I think are flawed and descriptions of their respective accompanying errors. \n\n\nThere are three possible research questions, and thereby dependent variables, being answered by the apartment hunting studies.\n1. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \n \n2. If there is no discrimination between the white man and the first-nations man between Toronto, Montreal, Regina, and Victoria, then they should get equal treatment, including quotes and availability, when apartment hunting. \na. Could total apartments visited be a confounding variable? (4 in Toronto, 3 in Montreal, Regina, and Victoria) \nb. Could the gender of the landlord be a confounding variable (perhaps men are more discriminatory than women)? \nc. They only showed the black man apartment hunting in some of the trials. I am considering him out of the study for consistency purposes. The first-nations man is the only one who got unfair treatment in the footage of apartment hunting. \n \n3. Possible hypothesis: If male landlords/agents are more discriminatory than female landlords/agents, then the white man and the first-nations man will get different treatment at different Canadian apartments in equally diverse cities. \na. Don’t know all the information about the genders of the landlords/agents, not all the footage is shown, but the ones where they get ripped off are male. The others shown are female. The remaining interactions are not shown.\n\n\nThere are also some factors that may have influenced the racial bias survey and, in my estimation, rendered it scientifically unreliable.\n\n\n1. The bias survey and accompanying tests at the CBC attributed the differences between the studies to unconscious racism. What if it was just due to familiarity with certain racial groups over others? \na. The black participants had no bias between European-American and African Americans, supposedly indicating no racism, while the white and first-nations participants did, supposedly indicating racism. Is it possible that another interpretation of this result is that bias is a function of familiarity: that we are comfortable with the majority demographic in the geographical location we live in, as well as our own kind. Therefore, the black guys are less biased against black people due to being both black and living in a white majority demographic? \nb. The participants took the survey knowing the objectives of the researchers was to study racial discrimination. They might have influenced the answers they gave \nc. Whether the participants agreed with identity politics or not was a confounding factor that was not controlled . You can only be racially unbiased biased if you think that racial identity is a means of accurately viewing the world. People who do not believe in the existence of identity politics may answer the questions quite differently, which could be a different reason for the results.\nd. I took the study myself. The words that participants were required to match were a mix of adjectives and nouns. It is known within psychology that nouns have higher levels of imagery. This was not properly controlled and therefore is another confounding variable. \n \nAll the other studies looked fine to me. I welcome any discussion on my observations.

Many people throughout the world seem to have so many stereotypes about Americans. Whether it is good or bad there typically is some truth in a stereotype. Overall it seems like you are enjoying yourself and no matter what there is no place like home. I would think no matter what your current situation is you still miss Canada as I would miss the United States if I were to move to Canada. \nA couple things you mentioned in the video were not correct and as with anything there may be a little truth in the matter but yet still incorrect.\nThose who do not have health insurance are not charged or taxed $150 monthly. There is a provision in the affordable care act (ACA) that penalizes certain individuals who make above a certain dollar amount. The amount is either $150 or $300 for the entire year. I concur any monetary penalty against anyone for not having health insurance is outrageous. I could be wrong but I believe this aspect of the ACA was never implemented under President Obama and it was indefinitely suspended or revoked by President Trump. I also feel like I need to address your thoughts about the United States all about war. I believe the American people are like most other people and want peace and civility. The government and major defense contractors have differing opinions at times. Of course there is plenty of people who are war hawks but they are in the minority. Most of us are absolutely sick of war. We currently have been at war for almost 19 years. That's six complete world war 2's in their entirety. \nI think you were being awfully generous when you said obesity is on par with the rest of the world!! Unfortunately there is far to many fat people here and the problem is only getting worse because the media says be happy and proud you are fat. Celebrating obesity is absolutely insane and it sends the wrong message to young people. If a close one is fat of course I love them but I also tell them privately that they are a walking heart attack.
