Easy answer: we have housing- we dont have AFFORDABLE housing... blaming the housing crisis on migrants instead of taking responsibility for their failures as politicians who have not kept up on infrastructure and then baiting us against each other so we dont blame the actual problem. This is not the fault of ppl who have had no say in our systems as they just got here, they didnt choose when they're approved to come n work n live in Canada.

Without a LOT of immigration the truth is that western countries like Canada and most European countries would simply collapse in a few decades for the problem of demographic decrease... My european country of 10 million habitants is being literally 'invaded' by a huge influx of immigrants as we speak and to be honest there is no other way to make the country viable in the long term. Honestly as an Immigrant I was definitely lied to by the country of Canada, and tbh this concern is lined with racism to an extent, but there are some valid concern for the most part. \n\nCanadian universities came to me high school, one of the academically successful high schools on my island and tried to take every single high performing student. Honestly immigrantion is an issue for everyone, but it won’t stop until the bigger western countries stop making oppressive laws forcing people out of their country. \n\nThis is not the immigrants problem, Canada is the problem. Also I lived in Toronto, the biggest issue is NOT immigration, the issue is the fact that they are tearing down cultural institutions to build condos. condos are a bigger problem than immigrants. Canada is pricing Canadians out of housing, then blaming immigrants. You guys need to see that for what it is, because a lot of us were lied to, Canada is lying to all of us, its citizens and its immigrants.

I had applied for Canadian immigration 2 years back, have a phd in Economics, hold Post Graduate Diploma in Communication and Visual arts, am from the hills in India. I never got the approval despite having money to pay for all. Then came to know someone with basic school education got the approval for driving cars in Canada. Decided to move to china instead and am happy with the decision.

If Canadians think new govt will solve the problem. They are dead wrong. This is the vicious cycle they can not get out. Their own structure can not support pensions and salaries. They need to bring in new immigrants otherwise the system cycle will collapse. As far as housing is concern. Does Canada have shortage of land ? Its due to policies that new housing is not coming up thus driving prices through the roof. No govt will gonna change that because corporate interests are involved and not house owners wanted their prices to go down. Which happened to be biggest voting block. Thus ordinary young Canadians are feeling the music and they see new students as the enemy. In fact it is the students who go through horrible exploitation ordinary Canadians cannot imagine. Canadians economy is an artificial economy based AND ITS BUBBLE WILL GO POP IF IT STOPS IMMIGRATION. Harsh reality and see if Mr Poilievre gonna change that ??. They are all the same bunch of liars like Trudeau. Don't forget Trudeau was charming prince ones. They all change with Realities.

A Sri Lankan who always gets misidentified as Indian reading the comments here. ? I moved here with the genuine purpose of studying for my LLM, after considering several countries. I was offered a scholarship from my university (a top ranking public university) I know several of my Indian colleagues who came to study & now work in universities & firms. I know educated people who came here from SL, India & other South Asian countries who came to study with the genuine purpose of studying & now pursuing PhDs here & elsewhere. I understand how concerned the whole immigration issue is for Canadians & new commers like us. I’ve always loved to study in Canada & now that I’m here just to see all these negative sides is truly heartbreaking. I was able to secure a decent apartment & decent job (both me & my husband)& so are my friends & colleagues. I love Canada & means no harm. I’d love to use my knowledge & serve developing countries like mine one day. I kindly request anyone reading my comment, please don’t judge. There’re people who came here to study & love to contribute their knowledge & skills to the world. Thank you.

Canada is falling apart, leave before it’s too late

No matter where you live in Canada we are bombarded with American News so we can see all the bad things that happen in the US. Canadian news is designed to be more of an informative format whereas American News is much more sensationalized so we don't always get to see through the crap! I would agree that much of the USA is quite safe but the reality is that anyone wanting to move from Canada to the USA is more likely to find their best opportunities in larger urban centers where all these concerns become far more real.

I escaped Commie-da 17 years ago and moved to Asia. I saw this coming a MILE AWAY.... now is just a joke. If you're wife isn't getting groped on the bus by ...then ur avoiding shit on the streets. I stay in the house when I go an visit. Have no urge to even go to downtown Toronto or anywhere else. Also, $25 for a CHICKEN.. a bloody CHICKEN.. I pay $3 in Indonesia, and you can buy a beautiful new house here in a guarded private estate for $200k and live like a KING on 40k a year. You can rent a house with a pool here for $6k a YEAR in same private estate.. I dont even lock my door or close my garage when I leave., like it USED T OBE in Canada 25 years ago..... Get out before they close the borders again for the next psyop.

All the activity and jobs are concentrated within 3-4 cities in Canada. Majority of these immigrants end up in these cities and with the population exploding the infrastructure/facilities are not able to accommodate this sudden exponential growth... Government needs to develop and improve the Tier2 cities so people spread out...

I travel in various cities across Canada . And I can tell you the amount of refugees staying in hotels where I stayed is staggering. They have breakfast and stuff their bags with extra food for the day. Some told me they stayed in for 2 months and walk to every store , buisnesses, and factories looking for jobs.

The irony is big chunk of the houses built in the US are by Canadian real estate developers. Aren't they not getting the same financial incentives in Canada as they are here?

Why did we keep quiet for the past 2 decades when our government was not increasing incomes, didn't focus on housing supply especially cheaper apartments, but banks and politicians together put 4 times more burden on us when it comes to monthly mortgages or rents and groceries, now suddenly we call immigrants as the problem for everything. How will Canada impress the world if it targets the weakest people in Canada rather than working on the core issues, the poor refugees and immigrants who were welcome with open arms can never influence the powerful think about it dear Canadians ?

The bottom line is, Canada _is_ an immigrant country: we will keep accepting immigrants and international students and refugees and asylum seekers in the years to come, that’s just what Canada is about, but I do believe the government needs to manage the flow in a _smarter_ way - policies and regulations that both fulfill Canada’s labor needs, but also obviously do NOT cause the rest of the population to struggle to literally just survive.
